PMS in a Handbasket--Don't be afraid, just bring us food... Part 23

Our food is set in tradition started oh, about 5 years ago! We always order in Chinese food for Christmas Eve. Then we have Cinnamon Rolls for Christmas Morning. An assortment of Cheese and Sausage and nuts and fruit for lunch and Beef Wellington for Dinner. My husband and his father cook the Wellington and an amazing sauce and other things to go with it. I can't even remember what usually goes with it. I guess a green vegetable and maybe some noodles or bread to help sop up the sauce with--otherwise we woud all lick our plates.

That sounds so good! We always do bratwursts on Christmas Eve (I know :confused3 but it's something we do) and a casserole on Christmas morning. Oh, you just reminded me that the kids' Cinnamon rolls won't fit in the oven with the casserole. I hate this oven!
It's Christmas Dinner that I am not sure on...

I do all of that but the exercise part. Well, okay, I push it on the sleeping part too, but not too bad, 11:00 most nights. 15 years ago I was.......hmmm,, 23. Good grief. I don't even know what I did with myself at that age. I can't remember. I know we hardly had any food because we weren't gainfully employed, we were living "in sin", and oh yeah! i broke my arm that year and couldn't afford healthcare, so it had to heal on its own, and I had to pass a physical to work for the post office with a broken arm. :rotfl:

Yeah, I do think I am jollier now, even with the evil internet. ;)

Oh. I was 15.:cloud9: I was just so in love with my boyfriend. I was way jollier.

Hmm, maybe I'm better off going with early March. I do need to check with the teacher to find out when they'll be doing state testing so Jake doesn't miss it.

I also need to plan the California trip for June after school is out (I'll just be bringing Jake and hopefully Alyssa). :yay: We won't be doing much sightseeing, mainly visiting Ron's parents, but we will be going to Disneyland. It's been years since I've been there and I've never gone to CA Adventure.

Ahem. APRIL 18th-ish!
Oh, and I want to go to Disneyland!

We have crackers and cheese and soup for Christmas Eve and Christmas cookies.

Cinnamon rolls Christmas morning.

Ham and the cheese and cream potatoes always for dinner. I'll likely also make broccoli cheese rice, and mint carrots in orange juice. Cranberries of course, and rolls. That may be it. I'll have to thunk on it.

We're March 12-16 Tig.

Fifteen years ago I really was a boring suburban housewife. Ok, maybe not boring, but a lot more busy with 2 little kids and a 3rd on the way before too long after that. We'd just moved to Maryland so were still getting used to a new place. We got a computer when Alyssa was in kindergarten, much to my dismay. I really held off on getting the internet--couldn't see any purpose in having it. :rotfl:

Now, though, I have tons of stuff to keep me busy, but also a lot of free time. Kind of payback for the really hectic years with young kids. :rotfl: And at least I know someone could stop by my house right now and I wouldn't be too embarrassed (as long as they didn't go into my bedroom ;) ). Not that I get to everything on my list, but it's not too bad. I do need to get better at having the kids put their stuff away since kid clutter is the worst problem right now.

Time to read with Jake. :)

I'd love to go in mid April for the weather, but I'm concerned about the crowds. Where are you staying? I'd like to stay at POFQ since Jake would enjoy lots of pool time (the value pools are awfully boring even though I don't mind the rooms, esp for only 2 people). Of course some of that will depend on finances and I'll be happy just to be there no matter where we're staying.

Come to Disneyland! :cool1:

Waaah! I want a trip to plan!

Hi teva!

I have bongos in my brain.

We're at BC. :thumbsup2
Uh, I think it will be really difficult to get the dh to fly to LA to go to Disneyland.:rotfl: I'm good, but I'm not that good.

Hello!

How's everyone?

Hi teva. How's life? Ready for Christmas?

I want to make cookies. What kind sound good? Not chocolate chip since they give me migraines. Maybe peanut butter. Or oatmeal...I could add craisins. I probably shouldn't make any since I don't need the calories, but it sure sounds good.

Lucky you! I'd love to stay at the Boardwalk sometime. Not in the budget right now, though. We did the Segway tour at Fort Wilderness and I'd like to stay there sometime, but only if I can afford the electric cart rental--that place is very spread out.

Oh, I've heard that you are that good, Bomb. ;)

My boys have convinced me that it's ok to play Wii after homework since it's not just a video system, but also exercise. :rotfl:

Had my neuro appt, he wants me on topimax and imitrex. Anyone know about these?

Christmas dinner changes for us all of the time. First off, usually Christmas Eve is our big family dinner when the kids and MIL come over (my mom doesn't celebrate Christmas). This year we are having a honeybaked ham, stuffed potatoes, asparagus and brocolli (the kids aren't asparagus fans). Last year we had loin of lamb with lobster. The year before that Filet Mignon and the adults had Lobster and the kids had crab legs (well so did the adults ;) ).

Usually there are assorted appetizers like a cheese ball, stuffed mushrooms, etc. Cookies for dessert.

Christmas morning I usuall make eggs benedict. Lunch this year will be ham sandwiches. And dinner is usually something simple. I made some kind of pasta dish last year. It's easy cuz I am most likely drinking homemade sangria during the day. ;)

Had my neuro appt, he wants me on topimax and imitrex. Anyone know about these?

Topamax is a preventative which has a high success rate, but didn't help me enough to stay on it. It has some side effects, such as word recall issues and tingling in the hands and/or feet. That didn't bother me, but the word recall was a pain. Also some memory problems. The biggest (and best for me) side effect was a decrease in appetite and weight loss. I ate just until I wasn't hungry (not until I was full), didn't snack hardly at all, and didn't have a sweet tooth.

Imitrex is for when you actually have a migraine. I didn't have much success with that (prefer Maxalt or Axert), but you may. Try it and if it doesn't work you can try something else.

You'll likely increase the Topamax dose every few days to lessen the side effects.

Any other questions?

Hi guys! How is everyone?

Anyone else hate questions that begin with "can I.....?" I swear my 7 year old is incapable of finding something to do that does not need specific permission for. Just play with some freaking Legos already! :headache:

:flower3: :love2: I am ignoring that last part.

What is everyone making for Christmas dinner? I don't know what direction to go this year and my grocery shopping is so limited. :sad2:
Sometimes we do 'dinner' but I don't really like ham and scalloped potatoes and stuff.
Sometimes we just do tapas. I don't know what to do this year. Crap. Plus I don't think I'll get to go grocery shopping right before since we'll be in Garmisch.
For Christmas Eve we do homemade pizza and have bday cake(not for us for Jesus. Sadly, he doesn't get any.;) ) Then Christmas morning, we have potica which is a special rolled bread that I can't feel like it's really Christmas without it and whatever drinks etc. The kids always get a fun semi healthy snack in their stockings so they eat that too. For lunch we have a tray out that has vegies, cheese, crackers, fruit etc that we just snack from. This year I think it is going to also include a Honey Baked Ham because I want one. For dinner, we dont' do much. We stay home all of Christmas from after church on Christmas eve until the end of Christmas day. The weekend after we go to the ILs. Don't know what we would have there.

Christmas Eve we cook my traditional meal (which was always on Christmas Eve growing up)
Potato soup
Rice Soup (yuck! Just cook it for show)
Bean Soup (double yuck! cook it just for show)
Perogies
Kalachi (an unlevened bread stuffed with potatos and cheese)
Ham
Veggies (just for show...no one wastes the room to eat them)

Christmas day we cook DH's traditional meal, with my modifications since I'm cooking it
Roast Beast
Cream Cheese Mashed Potatos
Filling (don't ask, I make his mother bring it from PA)
Creamed Corn
Pearl Onion Gravy
Peas
Biscuts

Christmas morning I usually eat leftover ham and kalachi.

I have the best pumkin cookie recipe! Of course it's at home....

OK...time to hit the road. Talk to you beautiful women later (and Frog and Conc too, of course)

Jake tried that yesterday, so I had him clean up the stuff that he'd left out in the family room. I told him that if he still needed help figuring out something to do after doing that to come back and I'd figure out something else for him to do. He didn't ever come back asking, for some reason. :rotfl:

Today he's been the most helpful little guy. Throwing away my garbage  , asking me how my day was, etc. I'm not sure what happened to my usual Jake, but I really am enjoying this one. More than likely he wanted on my good side so I'd agree to Wii, but it was sure nice having such a pleasant little boy around. :)

Time to order pizza, our normal Monday evening dinner (can't beat $5 large pizzas at Jerry's).

Hi :wave2: I made it home alive! Shug is really a fabulous driver! She didn't scare me once--which is more than she can say about me :car:

We had a nice time, well other than me at the dentist. Small infection in my back gums that had to have antibiotics inserted or something. Still quite sore. Do me a favor-- Go floss your teeth. That was really a miserable appointment.

But after we had lunch and IHOP was slower than molassas in Jan. No problems cause we were just talking and talking. Hard to believe, I know.

I am happy to report that Shug seems to be doing just great! She has found something that I completely forgot existed--A LIFE! Apparently if you actually walk away from these keyboards and screens and spend time with your animals and the humans in your life and read books and and go out and exercise and get to sleep on time and all that other stuff we used to do about 15 years ago before high speed internet came along, it is good for you and rather fulfilling. It can even make you, dare I say it? JOLLY!

I have decided to just take her word it! :surfweb: :rotfl2:

Oh, and on the way home I asked her take me through the drive through at Starbucks so I could get a Venti Peppermint Mocha. So I am feeling really Jolly! Well a bit shaky from the caffeine, but definitely jolly!

I'm an excellent driver. And I made it home with 3 minutes to Wapner :teeth:

The only problem with having a life and being jolly is when your husband catches you smiling at him for the first time in months he thinks it's because you wanna go to the Home Depot in Pa :sad2:

Now that is a good thought..:rolleyes1

Hello!

How's everyone?
Hello.. I just got back from Mousefest. FL was 80 degrees.. what a shock to the system to be back in snow and 20's..

Had my neuro appt, he wants me on topimax and imitrex. Anyone know about these?

I don't know anything about those.. but good luck:grouphug:

Tigger&Belle.. :wave2: it was good to see you again.. next time if we trade cell phone numbers we could even arrange to meet..

That's a good idea! :rotfl: Krista and I did exchange cell numbers, so was able to arrange meeting her. Yes, the temperature change is a shock and I didn't even come back to real cold temps. I really am turning into more of a warm weather person. Think I could get DH to expand his job search to the Orlando area? ;)

Robin, when is your spring vacation? I want to make sure that you're going to be around when I bring Jake--I know that he'd enjoy meeting your kids. And of course I'd want to see you again. But you'd better go see your local friend before that time. :rotfl2:

Time to order that pizza and do a bit of damage control on the kitchen.

right now...I'd rather be facing YOUR Home Depot in Pa then MY Home Depot in PA.:lmao: Of course I only say that since I have to be at work shortly, and DH isn't even home.:rolleyes1

:rotfl2: I love you.

Summer clothes are so hard to find.:sad2: I KNOW none of my peeps have anything older than 3 years of age that they'd wear, so you must have done a lot of shopping these last couple of summers. (please, just agree with me and let me live in my own world. LIE TO ME. thanx.)

Does this include underwear? :confused3 :rotfl:
