When my FIL went to have a lung biopsy done a tumor in his lung burst causing his lungs to fill with fluid and he went into cardiac arrest. After they revived him he was on a ventilator and put in a medically induced coma because it was the only thing they could do so they could aspirate(?) his lungs. After a few days the outcome was poor. He was relying on the ventilator to breathe and the decision was to be made. They said once we took him off he would have only a few hours. So we agonizenly made the decision to remove it. Well guess what. He ended up being able to breath on his own, eventually was taken out of the coma and went on to live about another year. The Drs. were astonished. We were astonished.
So even though things may seem bleak there is always hope. So don't give up and don't let her either. I know this must be so hard for you. Its hard to see the ones we love, especially our parents in such a way. We have always seen them as our pillar of strength. But now it is our time to be that pillar for them. I will keep you and your family in my prayers and please do not hesitate to call if you need anything, even if its just to yell and scream at the world. I, and we all, are here for you.
