We are planning our first DLR visit for next summer. DH is able to take his vacation any time from June 11- July 10. I can't figure out when is the best time to go during that time period. :confused3

I first thought that the week of June 11 would be best. Then I began reading about school field trips and grad nights. Would it be better to wait another week or two? We plan to stay at the GC for 5 nights.

Is the Electrical Parade even running at DCA in June? I really want DD to see that. She loves the music.

Please, any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!! :goodvibes

I am not sure I can give you an exact answer. Here are some things I would watch out for:

1. Grad nights in early to mid-June

2. Blackout dates for AP holders - see http://www.mouseplanet.com/misc.php?pg=blackout. In 2006 the week of June 26 was especially bad for crowds as AP holders were trying to sqeeze in one last visit before the summer blackout kicked in. In addition, the POTC ride re-opened on June 25 and that also caused a lot of AP holders to squeeze in.

Similarly, the Finding Nemo submarine ride is scheduled to re-open in June or maybe July after 3 years of being down. If it happens in June, the AP holders will again fill the parks before the blackout.

3. If you care to be able to ride the Nemo sub ride, go later (July) rather than earlier (June)

4. July 4 is of course a crowded time. It will fall on a Wednesday in 2007 and since it is not a three-day weekend it might not be that bad.

If it were me and I wanted 5 days, I would be inclined to go on June 11-15 or July 2-6 and just expect that July 4 itself will be more crowded. I would definitely avoid the week of June 25. The week of June 18 may or may not be better than the week of July 4. However, after July 1 DLR usually expands park hours so you will have more hours to enjoy the parks.

The DEP is under constant rumors that it is going away from DCA. I think they kept it around mainly because of the 50th. You might get lucky, but I would not get my hopes up.

Do you mean that it will no longer be shown? Or that it is being moved? I've never seen it, so was disappointed that it would not be showing during our late September stay. I'll be seriously disappointed if I'll NEVER get to see it. :(

I did not realize that. Too bad. It was a great parade that I enjoyed so much as a child. Thanks for the advice. :)

We were at Disneyland June 7th, 9th & 10th this year and it was a perfect time to go. We had great weather and low crowds, plus extended hours. The Electrical Parade was running when we were there. There was one grad night the week we were that, but we did not visit the park on that day. I definetly reccomend early June as a great time to go!

I would recommend early to early mid June. We've usually never had a problem with Grad nights and such during that time, and that's when we usually go. The weather is also nice, and not too hot! This year we went in July, it was just too hot, and not something we plan on doing again!

I know the EP was running when we were there in June of '05. But like others have said, who knows what it will be like next year.

We went to Disneyland for the first time this summer during the same time period you plan on going. We were there for two Grad nights and the parks were not crowded at all during those days. I think Grad nights keep the locals away. Many guests at our resort (DLH) planned activities outside of the DLR parks for that day. As for the school groups, we did run into quite a few on some days, but the lines were not bad. Most school groups were gone by the late afternoon. I would go again during that time period. Of course, I'm used to the crazy, crowded, humid summers of WDW. :)

There were rumors last year that it would be moved to DL Tokyo, I believe, for an indefinite period. But they kept it for 2006. Who knows what will happen?

I am looking at my 1996 MSEP "farewell Season" popcorn bucket :) . We made a special trip from Boise to see the parade One last times" before it "Glowed away forever" ! Funny that 10 years later it is going away again!

The really funny thing is after it left DL in 1996, it went to WDW where we were able to see it twice again! Then it came back to DCA, and we saw it two more times!
