Plus size robes in the spa?

They have them, but you'll have to ask. Even then, some of the spa employees look at you like you have green horns and fangs! I suspect they don't know where the robes are kept!

The ones who know will say something like, "Just wait here while I get you a special robe."

When my husband I and got our spa treatments at the Grand Californian the lady said that almost exactly "I'll get you a special robe." I almost felt like "You mean you'll get me a parachute?" hahaha

They were very nice about it but I did have to request one because I'm no skinny minnie :)

Enjoy!

I have never asked for a larger robe since I didn't know they were available. If it helps, I am 6'2" and 250 lbs. and have not had any issues with their standard robes, except they can be a little short.

I am 6'3, 270# and broad in the shoulders (I wear a 54 jacket) and when I went for the massage my DW booked for me - they didn't offer (nor did I know they had) a larger robe. I could barely get it on, my shoulders felt like they'd pop out of it, not to mention the length issue.

The robes are tiny, and no one offered me anything larger. I asked if there were larger robes, and the girl gave me a blank look. I ended up wearing my clothes into the massage room or bringing my own robe. Very frustrating, and embarrassing. :sad1:

I went on the Dream 2 weeks ago and they handed me the "generic" robe and I specifically said "will this fit me? Do you have a larger one?" and she said if I didn't want to wear the robe, I could just wear my clothes into the treatment room, which I did.

I don't know if I should have asked for a men's robe or whatever - I was just over it and wore my clothes into the treatment room. I figure, if I'm there to chill out and relax, I'm not going to get stressed out because the robe doesn't fit, yano???? :) :) :)

Btw, after getting my hot stone massage my therapist went off on their weight loss system/supplement stuff that they sell - so be prepared for that.

Yeah, they do a hard sell on add-ons for 'your future benefit' because the detox/etc needs to be done 'for weeks' and one treatment is not enough...

My masseuse tried to upsell me $300 worth of stuff.

Just tell them you have a regimen at home.

I was nervous about the robe situation, and just brought mine from home. It didn't match DHs, but I was comfortable.

Or when you fill out the form before the "treatment," write on in "No sales pitch, please."

If they don't follow your instructions, adjust the tip appropriately (and possibly include a comment on your comment card at the end of the cruise!)

That's a good idea!!!! I'll have to do that. I get really irritated when I say, "no" politely and they keep on with, "are you sure?" or "and this product would be good too...." So, I'm DEFINITELY gonna be writing "no sales pitch, please" on my form! The last thing I want to do is " relax" and have someone try to sell me something.

As for the robe thing, how "short" are they? I mean, I'm a pretty tall girl (over 6') but I'm not large otherwise. Will I feel uncomfortable in a robe that short since I'm tall?

I am 6'3 an while they are short, it wasn't uncomfortably short for me, I just had to be aware how I sat...

I was not offered a larger robe onboard. I was able to close the top comfortably, but the bottom gapped, so I made a skirt of a towel under the robe. This time around I will bring my own robe. Also if you want to hang out in the Rainforest Room I would suggest taking your bathing suit with you.

A bathing suit is required in the rainforest...at least on the Magic.

I'm not small...a size 24ish...and I was not offered a larger robe for the Rainforest room. I decided to use my own bathing suit cover up over my bathing suit. I will say that after I took a shower the towels were more than large enough for me to wrap around me and walk around the dressing room. So even if the robes were a little small you could wrap a towel around you and be covered up comfortably!!

Same for me. I won't do a massage on a Disney cruise again. The person I asked at the front desk told me they didn't have any XL robes. At the prices they charge, you'd think they'd have robes big enough to fit the Pooh size people of the world.

This happened to me as well. It was truly humiliating. She didn't even say I could change in private though she did say I could keep my pants on until I got to the room. I don't like being the big girl in a room of thin people where you get looks. The technition wasn't any better or more sensitive either. When I lay on my back, I have trouble breathing because the weight collapses my airways and my chest falls back into my neck. I'm too embarassed to mention anything and a spa should be versed on this stuff! I won't do it again. :guilty:

And BTW, I did write the corporate that owns that spa and told them of my experience. Including a hard sell when I specifically wrote on my card not to ask me to buy anything. I got no response.

Do they have plus size robes in the spa?

We were on the Wonder a couple of months ago and I asked for a larger robe. I was informed that I should wrap the towel around me and then put on the robe as they did not have anyting larger. I am a 22/24 so I did what they asked..it worked fine as I was just hanging out in the ladies lounge until my service.

Enjoy your time in the spa!

Honestly, there's no excuse for them not having larger robes. They have extra plus size _wet suits_ at Epcot, for Heaven's sake!

I have to agree. It sounds like it happens often enough that they can justify the need for them. This sounds horribly insensitive and very "un-Disneylike" for them to not have these available for their guests. It's even worse that people feel "weird" or "looked down upon" for having asked for one.
