HELP!!

Here's the thing.. originally we were only going to be going for 5 nights... so, we were going to go to the YC water view.

Now that we are going to go 6 nights, we can only afford to do the AKL savannah view..... OR!! We can still go to the YC, or even the BWI, but it has be be a standard view.

So, what would you do? I know the animals out the window are cool, and everyone really only has awesome things to say about AKL... but the african theme isn't totally our thing.

Is a garden view a part of the 'standard view' at YC/BWI??

I've always been one for getting a room with a view. But, I mean, you aren't really in your room for too long anyway right? (retorical question there.. :p ) So... what do you think?!

Room with a great view or best location hotel with a not so great view??

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!!!

I can tell you that I have been in a YC "standard" view and it was bad...it was of the Roof between the hotel and the convention center and it was a HAUL!!! to get to the room..I am sure there are better "standard" views or maybe you could request an upgrade, but I would pic AKL....or go for WL!!! AWESOME!!!!(hehe, but I am bias)

Borrowing from what you said...

"So, what would you do? I know the animals out the window are cool, and everyone really only has awesome things to say about AKL... but the african theme isn't totally our thing."

AKL is beautiful, and there are a couple of great restaurants and the pool area there. However, being in the YC/BC/BW area expands the selection of eateries and other resort activities with night life and recreation. So, if you're not sold on AKL theming, go BW or YC. Can't be too wrong no matter what you decide.

We had a standard view in the BWI a month ago. It was great. I had a view over a quiet garden and we got to watch Illuminations from the Balcony for the 2 nights we were there. The Boardwalk was great, so close to the other resorts there and we walked to MGM once and it is so close to epcot, its almost unbelievable. From standing on the Boardwalk it cant be more than 4-5 minutes to the gate.

I haven't stayed at the AKL

Mike

We did standard view at the BWI and the YC and they were both wonderful!!! :) It just depends on your personal taste... I just don't really like the AKL that much... we went there to check it out and it didn't really appeal to me. I love being near the parks and I love the boats to Epcot and MGM! :earsgirl:

I would stick with YC, especially if you will be using the pool at all. BWI is just as great for the Epcot location. I'm not into the African theming either and have stayed away from AKL for that reason, but I love the Epcot area resorts.

I would say try one of the Epcot area resorts. I have stayed at BC, YC and BWI, all standard view. I have had a varied experience each time. But never a view that was really bad.

But the convenience to Epcot & MGM was wonderful!:)

Here's another vote for the Yacht Club :D !!

We enjoyed our stay at AKL with a savannah view. It is a fabulous resort with alot to offer, but...

The YC can't be beat, in my opinion. Of the WDW resorts we have stayed at (WL, AKL, Poly, YC, and ASMu), it is my most favorite, and we really loved them all.

We stayed there last November in a std view room and it was great. A garden view is in the std view category. We requested a garden view room with a king bed on the lake side of the resort on the fourth floor. All of our requests were met, and even exceeded! We had a king room on the 4th floor overlooking the wedding gazebo, and from the balcony we could see the BWI across the lake. It was just beautiful. The next time we get to go back to WDW, the YC will be my resort of choice!

Good luck with your decision, and have a great trip!

Question, was the King Bed room at Y/C nice? Was the bed the only difference between the King Bed room and a standard room with 2 queen beds (I have heard that the rooms are smaller).

Thanks very much in advance,
Marty

I would do the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I have had a standard view room at the Beach Club, and it was not even halfway pretty. (Not that the resort itself wasn't pretty.) I'm not a real "animal lover," but my savannah view rooms at the AKL have been such incredible experiences that I love this resort. The theming is really spectacular. Of course, it is not nearly as convenient as the YC/BC, but the bus service we encountered was excellent. :)

My vote is for the AKL. If you asked me if I liked African theming I would say no but the AKL is incredible....

Marty,

We haven't stayed in a room with 2 queen beds at the YC, but found the king room quite comfortable, with plenty of room. In addition to the bed there was a desk with a table that slid under it (not really sure how to explain this, but it was nice) and I believe 2 chairs with hard backs, 2 bedside tables, a floor lamp, and upolstered chair with an ottaman. Also the low dresser the TV sat on, as well as a nice taller dresser in the entryway. I think some of the king rooms may have a daybed as well, but I'm not sure.

We stayed there very soon after the redecorating was completed, and it was just lovely. The room was larger than our room at AKL, but not as large as our room at the Poly.

Aside from just falling in love with the resort itself, we really enjoyed the location. I was an MK resort girl, but now I'm an Epcot area resort convert :D !
