Hi everyone--I have some confusion about the Disneyland/WDW premium pass.

I am currently a WDW passholder. My pass expires in late November.

I am considering going to Disneyland in CA in October, and I believe an upgrade would be cheaper than buying 3 or 4 days worth of day passes.

Is there a way to upgrade to the Premium pass at Disneyland without having to purchase a new annual WDW pass since it's so close to my expiration date?:confused3

Many thanks, in advance! :goodvibes

There's the Disney Premier Pass which is good at both DW and DLR. The cost will be the difference between the DW AP you have and the $850 that the Premier Pass costs. You can upgrade your DW AP to the Premier Pass, but it will retain the expiration date of your current DW AP. As far as I know, you cannot upgrade a DW AP to just a DLR AP.

Thanks! Are all DISboards members with "figment" in their name good at tickets? :)

Now wait. Are you thinking of buying 3 or 4 one-day tickets? If so, YES your upgrade would be cheaper than doing that. ($87 non-hopping, $125 hopping, each)

Otherwise, buying a 3 day hopping ticket is $250, and a 4 day hopping ticket is $275. Is that going to come in higher than changing your WDW AP to a Premier?

Gracious, just checked out the WDW AP prices. I'm used to the DVC prices, so that was a shock! Yeah, it might actually be cheaper to go to a Premier, even for a shorter visit! Wowza.

By the numbers OP is right. WDW non-resident annual passes appear to be $574 or $699 and a premiere pass is $849 making the differences $275 or $150. If OP has the more expensive WDW pass, then they should upgrade without question. If they have the cheaper pass and want 4 days in DL, they may as well upgrade since the cost is even and the AP comes with dining and shopping discounts the OP might take advantage of. Same holds really even if OP wants only three days unless they are sure they won't make up the $25 difference in discounts.

If you are within the 45 day renewal period, call Disney and renew your AP as a Premier pass. Confirm with the CM that your new pass will arrive before you leave, and if not, ask if you can pick it up at the ticket booth. Otherwise you may end up having to pay the $20 replacement fee if the new one doesn't arrive in the mail. Your new pass will be active once you renew, even if your current one hasn't expired yet.
