Pleasure Island alterations?

I remember reading somewhere, that part of the Pleasure Island area at Down Town Disney is being altered to accomodate more resturants.

Does any one know more details of what is being done, and during what timescale this is taking place?

Were back at Disney for first 3 weeks of July 09

Pleasure Island, in it's current format, is being shut down forever next week!

From then i believe it is being turned into a shopping/eating area more like West Side and Marketplace, but i don't know any timescale, sorry

The start of T-Rex is also already taking place, although not entirely sure what it's going to be, be it a restaurant or a ride. The idea is that the nightclub section is going, and the whole place is going to be much more family-friendly, no more over 21s only.

T - Rex is a restaurant that is due to open next month I believe.

I don't know much about what else is planned though.

Hi Yeah the are shutting all the night clubs and making quite a few restaurants, making it all family friendly..

The only two things that are official are a 'Create Your Own T Shirt' store and a hot air balloon will be going up in the marketplace, similar to the one they have in Disneyland Paris.

Nothing else has been announced although it's speculated it will be more chain stores & restaurants that will pay the big bucks to get onto Disney property. Like along the lines of Rainforest Café... Planet Hollywood. The development is going to last quite a long time though so I don't think we can expect anything there in the next two years.

And to say according to the announcement made none of the shops in that area (including Harly Davidson) are closing!

Another vote for the Cheesecake factory , or PF Changs or Krispy Kremes (all of which are down at the Mall at Millenia but still too far away)

15 minutes is a long time when you need a Krispy Kreme fix and when your DH knows what a trip to the Mall means - shopping

Closure of PI commences 27th September 2008 not sure how long it will be closed for could be a while but most things in DTD will still be open hopefully. No doubt once the refurb is done they'll give us a re-opening date on the official website.

Its just the clubs that are closing and they wont be reopening! The area itself is being redone into a family friendly area with more shops and restaurants

We're really going to miss the Adventurer's Club.
