PLEASE WOULD LOVE some positive thoughts on ASMo's.....

I have never stayed here, but booked this hotel for my January trip. It came very highly recommended from a good friend of mine. I would rather save the extra money and stay here and have more spending "fun" money in the parks and for my kids. My girls (age 10 and 6) can't wait to see the HUGE Woody and Buzz!!!!

I am 55 year old and travel several times a year. I often stay at 4 star hotels.
So the deluxe resorts do not have anything special for me.
Staying at the All Stars is like being in the heart of Disney Magic and that is where I want to be.

Here is the map of All Movies.
http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/allstarmovie.JPG
The Fantasia Buildings are the preferred buildings.
The All Star Movie Fantasia pool has Mickey.
All Star Movies has pop up fountains now also.

The buses are wonderful.

Bus rides are shorter from the ALL Stars than POP according to PassPorter.com

All Star Buses------------Pop buses
MK 20 min---------------MK 25 min
Epcot 10 min------------Epcot 20 min
MGM 10 min--------------MGM 15 min
AK 10 min----------------AK 15 min
DTD 15 min---------------DTD 20 min

The All Star resorts have 1960 rooms each.
Pop has 2,880rooms.
That means more people in the pools, food court and in line waiting for the bus at POP.
When phase 2 of POP is built it will be 2 bus stops at POP and the 2 POPs will have the same # of rooms as the 3 All Stars.

Also All Star is closer to the main road to get to parks and thats why bus rides are shorter from there than from POP.

A WORD ABOUT BUS SHARING:

It is usually just our stop and maybe one more on the way to the parks. On the way back sometimes its all 3 but often Sports and Music share and Movies has it's own bus back.

I guess some people who stay at POP see all 3 All Star names on the return sign of our bus stop when they head to the POP bus stop and think All Stars also has 3 stops on the way to the park.
(Even when we stop at another AS resort to load up it has not taken more than 5 minutes and we are on our way!)

I love the All Star Resorts --they can't be beat. I have visited WDW more than a dozen times with the 1st time in Oct. 1971. It was brand new. I've stayed at FW, Disney Inn, a few the of Hotels on hotel Blvd., CBR and the towers at the Contemporary. I got to see the MK from my balcony at the Contemporary and I'm happy I got to experience it once. I just prefer the All Star Resorts.
The theaming is pure Disney.
My last 4 visits have been at The All Stars and this fall when we take dd,dsil, and our grandson age 3 we are staying at the All Stars Music. I thought about AKL and even though we can well afford AKL I just wanted Alex to experience the Disney Magic at the All Stars on his first visit.
Where else can one find Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse at the pool?
Have fun at All Star Movies!

I hate that All-Stars gets a bad rap when it comes to busses. Fine if An All-Star bus has to stop at all 3 All-Stars thats fine. CR shares busses with Poly and GF (not sure if they also share with WL). At least the All-Stars are right next to each other. At All-stars they load up and leave. When taking the DTD bus from Poly we sat at GF for 5 mins (not fun). At the moderates you still have to go to every one of their bus stops.
CBR has 7 busstops within their resort.
CSR has 4
POR has 4
Plus there seems to be more AS Busses than any of the other resorts. I know when we stayed at AKL we saw 5 different AS busses come and go while still waiting for 1 AKL bus to leave MK.

Things I love about All-Stars and Pop.
1. I like that the bar is open til midnite and that its close to the pool area. While DDs (only DD12 is still home, the others have flown the coop) are swimming, I can enjoy a nice cool cocktail. Not sure about Mod but deluxe pool bars usually close around 7-8pm even in summer.
2. That the lobby, food court and busstop is close. We've been staying onsite since '96 I could only afford a value. In '01 They had POR for $99 a night I booked. DDs hated it. They hated that the food court was a 5 min walk. They hated that there were no teenage boys near the pools, only families with toddlers (ok, ok my older girls were 17 and 15 at the time, boys were the only thing on their mind). They begged never to stay Mod again.
3. Food courts. They offer so much of a variety. Plus All-Stars has Mickey Waffle sundaes. Last Sept we stayed Poly GVC (ok I can afford deluxe now but staying value we can go more often. Sept trip is 5th trip this year) and DD12 wanted to go back to All-stars for her sundae.

Ok now the bad part. Yes, sometimes you can hear toilets flushing and your neighbors banging their doors shut. But at Poly I heard my neighbor opening and closing the dresser over and over and over again(bother me because it was 6am in the morning). At CR the people over us were allowing their kids to jump on the bed. Beginning at about 7am (reason this bothered me, we were at MK the night before til 1am) plus kids running in the hallways. Just because you pay more for deluxes doesn't mean they are quieter. I'd rather go Value because if its a bit noisier well least its about $85 a night as oppose to $200 plus.

My older DDs 22 and 20. Even when they go up there with friends they stay Value. My DD know the value of money and they would rather enjoy a water park and other perks then spending so much on a room.

Enjoy you stay you will love ASMo.
