I want to first say, I hope this doesn't offend anyone. I have the best intentions in mind, as my nephew is battling this.
Can someone come up w/ an iron on that says "Autism Sucks" (or STINKS)
I'm really up for anything, maybe with the autism puzzle pieces...
My nephew likes Toy Story and Cars. He is 10 years old and has a twin brother that is "normal" He also has a 4.5 yo sister and almost 3 yo brother.
We had make up fireworks in a tiny community in the midwest this past Friday night. Before sunset, we (10 grandkids, and 4 adults) were playing at the park. Well, my nephew is really struggling... still putting NON food items in his mouth (like rocks around the swing area). Wouldn't you know, 4 young boys, started making fun of him. I know those kids are just kids and had no idea our family was all over this playground. My DD 10 started to walk towards them, I though UH OH, so I cut her off walking towards the 11 or 12 year old boys.
I confronted them without yelling at them, but explained he has autism and battles with it everyday, every minute.
So there's the story. My sister is exhausted and embarrassed by his behavior. Not that I want to put him on display... but I want them to have something to iron on a swim bag or attach to their car... Just something to help going out in public.
This is such a devastating disorder. The family, especially twin brother, get really hurt feelings by ignorant people. Heck, twin bro might wear a shirt!
)
Anyway, that's my story. Once again, not looking to hurt anyones feelings.....
