Was Arkansas put on there as a joke? Cause there is nothing here LOL

No- DH has wanted to go to Crater of Diamonds State Park for awhile (fully understanding that he has about the same chances of winning the lottery as finding a diamond.) We'd probably go to Hot Springs too while there.

I don't know if that is the Ozarks or not.

I had planned on the Canadian side of niagara, although we would need to get passports as we don't have them so there's that. DH loves poker so would probably stop at a casino as well.

I picked Mackinaw Island, of course. :)

I've been there several times, but the last time was for my 40th birthday so it's been "awhile." Probably some things have changed, but there are still no vehicles allowed (except emergency ones like an ambulance and police car), everything is done by horse and carriage or bicycles. If you go, try to spend at least one night on the island. There are several hotels, and bed & breakfast places too. DH and I stayed at the Grand Hotel many years ago, it was awesome. The last time we were there we stayed at a small B&B, the bed was so gosh darned uncomfortable. :( We got up early and went for a bike ride. I am so thankful that bed was uncomfortable. We got to see the island at 5:00 a.m. like we'd never seen it before. It was wonderful! No one downtown except for one street washer. You can bike around the whole island as it's only around 8 miles or so. Lots of restaurants, gift shops, and of course fudge shops downtown. But there is a lot more to see. There is a fort, Arch Rock, take a horse and carriage tour, or go horseback riding. There's a golf course, butterfly house, etc. We got to see the Governor's Mansion one year (inside). It's just a whole different experience to be on the island. Really unique.

You said you'd probably go on your vacation in spring or summer, early spring might be a little chilly. Their busy season is June 15 - Labor Day. The lilacs are beautiful when they are in bloom, and the island has a Lilac Festival in mid-June.

Keep saving and go to Tokyo, but that's not on there...

I picked Charleston, but Mackinaw is a close second. The only place I've been on your list is VA Beach...nothing wrong with it, but Charleston seems full of southern charm and Macinaw sounds like a step back in time.

Actually the expensive trip we are saving for right now is Hawaii, this is just a quick 'I'm sick of the scenery around here' trip.

It's much more fun to go out of the country, IMO.

Okay, well if you go to the diamond good luck:) You can always swing over to Branson there is quite a lot to do there.

I have the travel bug something fierce today and can't decide where to go. Help!

* I reserve the right to have this be a completely non-binding poll. BUT, I'm dying to know what you think!

MACAKNAW rocks!! if you stay in St. Ignace there are SO many things to do in driving distance. Heck I just planned a 5 day vacation there for this summer. I love Mackanaw fudge... So much for my diet. Oh and the bridge at night and the price of the hotel (days inn is only $50 a night and ive stayed there before).

Charleston or Savannah (a fairly short drive to the SW). Similar and extremely charming. Great places.

They are southern and therefore obviously superior. :)

Definitely Mackinac Island!! Everytime we go there, I think about the movie "Somewhere In Time." It's where it's filmed. Love that movie! Anyway.. If you want to experience something different.. You should try this place. The only way to get around the island is either by walking or biking.. or by horse drawn carriage. Just thinking about it makes me what to go back this summer!

oh.. btw... you see our picture at the bottom.. that was taken at Mackinac Island.. = )

I voted Charleston. What I would actually do is split the time between Charleston and Savannah. Virginia Beach was nice but I am not a beach town person. Being from Cleveland Niagara Falls is very close and most people in this part of the country have been there many times. I think it is a one or two day trip tops. If you were to do Niagara and Toronto in a trip that might allow you more to see and do.

I have only been to Mackinac Island on your list. I can't really vote.;)

I want to go to Vegas, DC, or Nova Scotia so I am no help.

I picked Arkansas, because I grew up here and I love it. Depending on which part of the state you want to visit there is a wide variety of things to do. If you choose Crater of Diamonds/Hot Springs there is shopping, horse races, hiking, lake, Magic Springs which is small amusement park. Up here where I live there is lots of shopping, outdoors sports, camping, National Parks, and Razorback games. In Little Rock there is the Clinton Library, the Old Mill, the zoo (which I acutally think is rather lame), and lots of other stuff. I actually haven't been to extreme Southern Arkansas so I'm not sure what all is down there besides farming. Oh, and yes, Branson is right over the border from Northwest AR, but I don't consider Branson all that and a bag of chips. It's nice for a long weekend.
