We are having a problem with people not updating their email addresses etc. We are sending out 1000's of email notifications every day that bounce back to the server and are causing performance problems.

Later tonite everyones preferences will be set to NOT email you if there is a new thread or a new PM that you have subscribed to. You will have to go in and check off that you do want to continue recieving these notifications. If you do set this to yes please be sure you have given us a valid email address.

It's possible you are getting bounce back from old at&t customers. They had the .attbi.com address. When Comcast took over it was changed to .comcast.net.

Maybe you could make those changes and see if that lowers the bounce backs.
 

I have not received email notifications for many, many months. I believe AOL is filtering them out as spam/bulk email. I've contacted AOL to complain about this, because I'm still getting tons of "other" spam------ but they've been no help.

We've solved the problem by turning off the feature- allowing those that use it to reset their own. ATT is not the only offender and we don't have the time or manpower to manually find and change emails for everyone.

AOL is constant source of problem. They have been very aggressive with their filters. Many AOL users have been able to get them to correct the issue by complaining, but they are not always very helpful.

Thanks to those who have checked their email addresses and made appropriate corrections.
 
Can somebody tell me how to check my email address. OOPs....I just figured out how to check. Thanks anyway.

Because of it I reviewed all my choices and changed several things.

I am registered as such and am getting no notifications at all. I am configured to recieve cookies and I used to get notifications.

What's up?
 
I stopped getting them too as of yesterday morning. I went in and made sure that I am 'set' to get them, and I also checked my email address and it is fine.

Is anyone getting notifications?

I'm another aol'er and haven't received them for close to a year now. AOL wouldn't let me get them from my tivo account either. Oh well.
 
I've also gone in and changed my settings to receive e-mail notifications again and haven't gotten one for a few days now.
 
I'm another person with Road Runner (xxx@xx.rr.com), and I too stopped receiving notifications this weekend. I reset my mail options, and I am still not receiving notifications.
 
I have comcast and was getting them fine up until a few day ago. Today I went and changed my user to receive them again, but alas still nada... :( Doc, any tips?

AnnaS - go into User Cp located at the top of the screen and then select Edit Profile. You'll see your email information .
 
Okay, MsMDW I have done that - my email address is there and it is fine. I do notice I have to keep checking bottom of posting/replying to thread (email notification). I am not getting e-mails - I can't believe after months and months of not getting any, I had just solved it about two weeks ago and now I am not getting any again (the first time I had all the replies in my spam folder). Any other things I should be trying? Thanks MsWdw
 
I just went to another screen (not the same one I orginally went to). Let's see what happens this time. I had to change two things.
 
AnnaS - I should have told you this before; sorry! Go back into User Cp, and Edit Options now. Check that you have YES selected for "Email Notification".

There were problems with the board and those notifications were turned off. Make sure you have yours on.

It looks like there is still some sort of problem because I have everything selected and my correct email id is in my profile and I'm not getting any notifications. And from what I'm reading, I'm not alone.
 
Okay - I guess I did everything right so far and I obviously did not get your updated/reply. I hope it gets resolved soon. It is actually boring and frustrating not being able to follow-up on threads. Thanks.
