Please tell me your thoughts on Wilderness Lodge

We've only been to WDW twice and have stayed at WL (woodsview) both times and we loved it so much, we're afraid to try anywhere else!:jester:
While I'm planning our next trip, I was tempted by the convenience and attractiveness in a different way of BC. BUT, we're a family who does like having some quiet, down time to counteract the frenetic activity level of the parks. At WL, you can truly, deeply relax amid beautiful surroundings. We've always had very friendly, prompt service across the board there.
We prefer to use a rental car and not wait for Disney transport (aside from the great boat ride to MK and CT for Chef Mickey's!), so I can't comment on transportation.
Good luck!

We've stayed at WL about five times and have loved it. Our last trip (which was last week :( and we didn't want to come back) we were upgraded to the 7th floor. Oddly enough, our room wasn't any larger than the ones we normally get, but we had a great view of the castle. The time before this, we stayed on the 1st floor... I think the room number was 2123 or something like that near the exit to the pool. It was quite large, with the bedroom area separated by two doors. The "living room" area had a couch, coffee table, and chairs. It was plenty large enough for us.

We like taking the boat over because its just more relaxing for us. We've never waited more than 10 minutes either. My wife absolutely adores WL. I love it too, but as for my favorite, I'm continually torn between WL and the BC.

We stayed at WL from May 28-June4 and loved every minute of it. We did not find anything wrong with the trasportation. The grounds are very beautiful, Whispering Canyon is a lot of fun, and the pool is great. My kids spent hours swimming in it and would occasionally jump out of the water to see the geyser erupt. Another thing is the music they play, one song in particular I can't get out of my head.

Thanks for the info Ratpack!! I have found the thread and I've been reading it until my head hurts!! LOL
I just love this board.

We just returned from Wilderness Lodge two weeks ago, and it was WONDERFUL! I had wanted to try a different resort each time, but it'll be hard to go anywhere else for our next trip!

The rooms are comparable in size to those at the moderates, but we didn't feel cramped (even with four people). We did have the bunk beds, which meant that we had more floor space.

Our housekeeper was great. She did her job -- nothing else to say about that.

Transportation was good. We sometimes waited 5-10 minutes, but we would have spent that much time walking out to our car, parking our car, finding a parking space . . . Disney transportation is always quicker when you figure in the "entire driving time." They could have handled Early Entry Day transporation better, but regular transportation was a breeze. Also, remember that the TTC is VERY close to WL -- use this to your advantage when going to another resort!

Wl is a great resort, the rooms are not as large as some of the other deluxe resorts but they are fine.
My son and I stayed there this past December and we really loved it, the theming is so cool! We had no housekeeping issues, room was cleaned every day, plenty of towels etc.
we only had one problem with the transportation....if you leave the MK after Spectro magic, do not take the boat....I had read on these boards to take the resort monrail to the TTC and then take the WL bus from there, did I listen? NO, the line for the boat was not bad when we got there, but the water pageant was passing through and the boats could not leave the dock. We stayed there for nearly 45 minutes. But I considered that a fluke. Otherwise the transportation was fine
.
You will love the WL

I would stay at WL over any of the other WDW resorts. We love it! When those doors at the entrance slide open, the flesh on my arms goes all goosey! It's such a comfortable hotel. The smell coming from Whipering Cnyon Cafe is aromatic. The rooms may be slightly smaller at WL than say the CR, but they have never had a lack of cleanliness. We've stayed at CR and weren't happy with our room. It felt run down to us. So I think it's a matter of personal taste.

We just returned from the Wilderness Lodge. While, I have stayed there before, the rest of my family had not. We have always been a Polynesian family, and to my surprise, my DH and children preferred the Wilderness Lodge!

Service from the time we checked in until we checked out was absolutely fabulous!

Jordyn, the avid pin trader, was looking for Chip and Dale pins. The Cast Members at the mercantile went into the back to see if they had any they could trade her which was really nice.

Mousekeeping left towel animals each day and did really creative things with the stuffed Spiderman that we had gotten from Universal.

My daughter turned 12 while we were there. The CM who checked us in noticed that on our reservation and had a birthday cake sent to our room as well as an autographed picture of Jordyn's favorite characters (chip and dale). What REALLY impressed me, however, was that they also left balloons and a card for my son with an card from Mickey and the Gang stating that they hoped HE was having a magical vacation too. It really made him feel good. If you see Zach while checking in, tell him the Young's said hello :)

I would definitely stay there again!!!
