This will be our first stay at CSR. Our fave resort was not an option this time around because there was no availability for the late August discount. So our choices were to save a big chunk of change and go with CSR, or stay with our #1 and not save. Money won out.

Now I know that it will be amazing no matter what, it's Disney. BUT, the hotel experience is also a big part for me. I am reading really mixed reviews about CSR and I don't know too much about it other than what I am reading online. It looks beautiful, but what I am after is real reviews from those of you who have been there.

Have you stayed at CSR before? What did you love? Would you go back? Tell me everything :)

We really loved CSR. We would still stay there but now we are a family of 6 so we do 2 value rooms instead. The rooms at CSR are beautiful. Not Disney like at all, but very relaxing colors and queen size beds. We always stayed in the Casitas section. If you are in the Rancho (?) section, you will have quit a walk to the food court. The walk is do-able but IMO it is too long to just go fill up your mug. We always enjoyed the food court. You will hear a lot of people who love it and an equal amount that hate it. We always thought the food was good. Nice options. The layout is different but it is fine. If you are not on the dining plan, that food court can get pricey fast. We would go back for sure if we could all fit in one room. :)

HATED Coronado the first time we stayed there. Actually didn't like it the second either..

There's good news though. The price is right and the beds are way bigger than the tiny doubles in the value resorts for almost the same price. We stay there now because our kids are so big they no longer can fit in a tiny double ;)

Take heart, your stay will be what you make of it. We stay in the back to avoid having to wait at each bus top ;)

We stayed there a couple of years ago and liked it very much. The room decor was pretty and relaxing. The pool was very nice, and the pool slide was a lot of fun (this coming from someone who LOVES the SAB slide). This resort is really pretty at night, with the building all lit up....definitely worth a stroll. We stayed in the Ranchos section, which is the farthest from El Centro. It didn't bother us in the least, partly because we don't always buy refillable mugs anymore, and we had a car so we could stop there on our way to or from a park if we wanted something. I know this is just luck of the draw, but we also had terrific housekeeping at CSR.

We've stayed at three moderates (POR, POFQ, and CSR), and CSR was my favorite of the three. If I couldn't stay at an Epcot resort, I would go back to CSR.

The beds are ultra comfy, we loved the decor and grounds. We were in Casitas 3 and loved being close to EL Centro. Not sure we would have liked it so much being at the other end of the resort..it is very large and spread out.

I agree with tajz up there. CSR was definitely my family of four's least favorite resort. We got a preferred room but were STILL a 10 minute walk to the lobby. It was so hard to make our way around. 20 minute walk to the pool and on the hot humid August dats, it's not fun. The only up is a good pool and food court, but if you are far why would you schlep there every day?

Thanks for the info everyone, very helpful. We are staying in a standard room, so I am going to have to look at the map of the resort to see all the potential spots we can be placed. And go through he monstrous threads that were sent to me so I can learn all I can about CSR!

Thanks again!

I am staying at CSR for the first time too this November and had the same concerns. This is a budget trip so no deluxe this time.

I booked business class as it wasn't much more $$ (way less than any of our deluxe choices) so this solved the spread out problem as I know we will be in Cabanas 9b.

I realized the places I know I love still get mixed reviews! I hear that Y&B is too stuffy or that WL has a duck problem or bad bus service. In face I myself even used to dislike the Poly as it reminded me of an old Brady Bunch episode and wouldn't have recommended it but I tried it again a few years ago and it's one of my favorites now!

The only resorts overly "Disney" are some of the Value resorts. I find the theming much more subtle in the moderates and deluxe in general. So this really didn't bother me.

I think it looks beautiful, has a great pool and a food court with variety ...

Looking forward to it!!!

We always book a standard room at CSR and request the cabanas section. Cabana 9B is business class (new this year), but the rest are standard and waterview rooms. We like cabana 8A the best - very close to the Dig Site pool and close to the cabanas bus stop. Other favorite standard room requests are casitas 4 and 5 (near the casitas bus stop, fitness center, and lap pool) and ranchos 7B (near the Dig Site and the ranchos quiet pool). Ranchos 6A and 6B are about as far as you can get from the main building, so if you don't want to walk, you might ask not to be there. The front desk CMs are very accommodating if the resort is not full, but you can request a location in advance as well.

Preferred rooms are casitas 1, 2 and 3. Business class is cabana 9B. All other buildings have some standard rooms.

The distance around the lake is not even a mile, and the farthest ranchos building is about a half mile from El Centro. I don't know how it could take anyone 20 minutes to get anywhere at CSR unless you walk very slowly - I can walk around the whole resort in less than 20 minutes.

We have stayed at CSR four or five times and have always had great stays. The rooms are nicely appointed and the beds are among the most comfortable of any resort at Disney (better than Poly, AKL and OKW, as nice as the Boardwalk beds). The rooms have a sliding door in the vanity area so you can have some privacy while getting ready (and not wake the kids if you are traveling with kids).

Bus service has always been excellent for us at CSR. The buses to/from the parks stop first at the casitas (bus stop #2), then ranchos (bus stop #3), then cabanas (stop #4), then the main building (stop #1). Buses to DTD stop first at the main building then go in order around the resort.

CSR has several quick service locations. The Pepper Market is the food court, and people either love it or hate it. It is a bit more expensive than other moderate food courts, but it is a great value on the DDP. You are seated by a server, who gets your drinks and refills, and brings your silverware. PM has several food stations - you order your food, it is made fresh, and you go eat. You pay at the end. There is a 10% service charge at Pepper Market for your server - some people don't like this, but I would rather pay 10% and be seated, have real silverware, have someone get my refills, etc. than try to find a seat with a tray full of food that is getting cold. You can avoid the 10% by getting your food to go - there are several nice tables out by the lake.

CSR also has Cafe Rix, which is the grab n go quick service restaurant. It can get very busy in the mornings. You can refill your mug here. There is also Siesta's at the pool, which offers food, drinks and mug refills (generally from 11-6 daily). The laguna bar is outside and offers sandwiches, pizzas, etc. It is family-friendly. Maya Grill is the table service restaurant - we haven't eaten there in a long time.

Feel free to pop in the CSR thread and ask any questions - there are lots of helpful regulars there! :goodvibes

We have only stayed at CSR once (this past March) and we LOVED it, so much so that the last day of our trip I was playfully whining and asking my DH if we could just move in! We love it so much we are booked to stay there again for Memorial weekend in just 10 days! We were in Ranchos 7b and had zero problems getting around, at all. We are park people so we don't spend tons of time in the resorts but we did walk to El Centro every morning for breakfast and coffee and it wasn't far AT ALL. In fact, we found the short morning walk so relaxing. The grounds are so gorgeous and quiet that all you really hear is the chirping of birds. We really enjoyed it! At that point we would just hop on the bus at stop 1 (which is at the front of the resort) which eliminated the need to walk back. We had a quiet pool right near our room and the Dig Site was equally as close. We mostly had a quick breakfast at Cafe Rix, and our other meals were in the parks. We had a wonderful experience and expect the same this time around. At the end of the day, no place is perfect, it's all about attitude/outlook :)

My family and I stayed there last month and really enjoyed it. I prefer not overly themed resorts but my husband wants more theming. He didn't like POR because it wasn't "Disney" enough. I chose CSR because it seemed to have more theming for him (we are from the south so POR didnt seem different! neither of us have been out west so CSR seemed themed to us) but was also tastefully decorated as it has the convention center. It seemed to be a good compromise for us and we were both happy. We were placed in the Ranchos area, not by choice and were unable to change rooms. We were initially disappointed but the walk to our room wasn't as bad as we thought. The walk in the mornings to get breakfast was about 10 minutes and very peaceful. In the evenings we would just get off at the bus stop near our room. The only downside was that we couldn't just drop in and refill our mugs. Overall though we loved the resort. I actually really liked the setup of pepper market and preferred going there over cafe rix. My boys loved the pool. I would definitely stay there again.

We loved CRS so much we're going back this summer. We truly looked forward to our walks around the property because the grounds are so beautiful...I am someone who likes to 'stop & smell the roses'...so I found CRS to be very relaxing. The rooms are on the small side, with a darker decor than other resorts, but it was a non-issue for us since we spend so little time in the room. The pool, and ginormous hot tub are great, as well as the poolside bar, and snack bar. Over the years we have stayed at many Disney resorts from value to deluxe, and I must say that CRS had THE best bus service out of all of them.

I have stayed there 3x in the last 5 years. Twice for vacation (both times Cabanas)and once for a conference(Casitas). Its a pretty resort, not my favorite mod, but it's very nice, pretty at night, nice rooms, not too themed, very tastful. Hated the PM, loved the pool area. Try to get a room as close as you can to the main building, I wouldnt think it would be fun walking to the food court from Ranchos in the heat of August--especially when one of those surprise August T-storms hit:scared:

have fun!!

We enjoyed our stay there very much. We liked the Pepper Market and pool very much. We also liked the hammocks that could be found around the lake.

I've stayed at CSR twice, with a 3 trip planned for this fall. It is a very pretty resort, and the bus service is great. In part due to the fact that it is a convention resort so you have fewer people using the buses to get to the parks.

As far as the refillable mugs go, you don't have to walk all the way to the front to fill them. You can fill them by the main pool too.:goodvibes

We stayed there last year and liked it. Room was nice, grounds were nice. We were in the preferred Casitas 1 section, would have preferred not to have been "upgraded" to a preferred room. Too far from the Dig site, and really didn't care about being close to the food court. Still had a good time.
