That having kids is different than babysitting others. After one hour with my 4 y/o nephew, I want to claw my eyes out! And I don't mean this as a joke...seriously, I really hope it's not the same when they are your own!:worried:

DH feels that way every evening...at least a little. I think that it takes building a tolerance to the noise, etc. No, FTR, I do not feel that way each and every hour of each and every day!;) I hope you all find your rhythm soon!

It's definitely better having your own. I love my dd to pieces but I can't stand anyone else's kids. :p

ummmmm well,
they usually behave better for others.
:p

that didn't help, did it?

It may not be different for everyone, but it sure is different for me. I don't particularly like to be around other people's children, but I sure love being with mine!

It is much different. I never liked babysitting before I had kids either, but I love spending time with my kids. I even quit my job to be a SAHM to spend more time with them. I still would rather watch my kids than someone elses.

I usually have no trouble with children. What happened?

It is different. There are things I enjoy or will at least tolerate in regards to DD that I don't have the patience for with other peoples children (family included). I think because of that I don't expect people to find DD enchanting and am pleasantly surprise if they do.

It's worse.

You can't send them home. ;)
Oh so true..... :sunny: :sunny:

Really, it is different when they are your own, because you overlook some of the minor stuff, because they're yours. But, I will tell you, there are some days that I would like to run away from home!!!

Oh, its nothing in particular that's stressing me. He's just hyper, excitable, wants attention, wants to ask a billion questions, wants to show you everything and make you watch every second, throws stuff at you, doesn't listen....

Sounds terrible, but it's really normal 4-year old stuff and he's testing the limits. He's going through his terrible 2's...3rd year running. ;)

whenever mine really start to get on my nerves I tell them "if you don't settle down right now I am going to rip your arms off and beat you over the head with the bloody stumps!!" This usually gets them laughing so hard they forget to annoy me. LOL.

Yes, it is much different when it's your own, much better! I was never a kid person. Then I had one and everything completely changed! My mom is always shocked when she sees me interact with my kids and tells me so! :D I've gotten better with other people's kids with age, lol.

Oh- it will be very different when it's your own kids - because they won't be rude, ill-mannered, undisciplined, disrespectful, hyperactive, loud, obnoxious..... oh, wait a minute - that's what I believed *before* I had my own.

Seriously, though, I think it's MUCH better when it's your own kids- you alread unconditionally love them even when they're being monsters!:p

When you have your own baby, you fall deeply in love with him or her. There's a reason God made them so cute. You love your own child so much that you tolerate their "childish" behavior very well.

Depends on how you raise them I think... we always expected our kids to behave & by some miracle so far, they have... DS's school is the same way, they EXPECT the kids to behave & overwhelmingly they do (unless there's an underlying condition of course)... It's really weird isn't it?
