Please tell me I'm not the only one who does this.

If we are in a hotel room for more than one or two nights we always unpack. I can't stand tripping over suitcases, and the whole room looks cluttered with them lying around. Up goes the shoe organizer. Shirts, slacks, dresses etc are hung in the closet. Foldables and unmentionables go into the drawers, along with those non-clothes items that don't go into the shoe organizer. Laundry bag sits on the floor of the closet.

I refuse to be a germaphobe- we (and our clothes) are just as likely to come in contact with cooties as soon as we step outside the room as when we're inside it. If I saw a drawer that was obviously dirty, then I wouldn't use it. If I really thought my clothes were in danger of being drenched in pathogens, I'd give the drawers a spray with Lysol.

I only hang some things that I don't want too wrinkled....never use any of the drawers! Everything else stays in the suitcase. I bring plastic bags for dirty clothes.

After reading about people using the drawers as a hamper - I'm REALLY glad I don't unpack now! LOL ;)

The only thing we use the drawers for is our dirty clothes... So, uh, no, we wouldn't put our clean clothes in them. ;) Sometimes, we put the dirty clothes back in the suitcase in a laundry bag underneath the clean ones ;)

:) :) :) :) :) hahhaahaha.... Ok people, I use a laundry bag for the clothes. The cooties are controlled inside the laundry bag in the drawer :)

If the bag isn't in the drawer (depending on how long we are staying), it is inside the luggage.

;)

OK that's not as bad as what I was picturing what people were doing :goodvibes

We never unpacked until our trip in July. We stayed for 11 days and there was no way we would keep our suitcases out for us to trip over. So, being the germaphobe I am, I sucked it up and unpacked...BUT, I had individual outfits for everyone in ziploc bags AND Lysol'd the drawer before use.

We are going for 11 days in April as well, but we are doing a split stay, so I think we may keep stuff in the suitcases because it's only 5 nights at each resort...

Sometimes I forget to use all my words to fully explain. ;)

i'm right there w/pp...i wipe out the drawers w/clorox wipes and lysol the closets, floor and drawers. i unpack the suitcases and as i go, the dirty clothes go in plastic bags back into the suitcases so i don't have to pack @ the end of the trip. toiletries and bathroom items are pretty much the only thing we worry about when we're getting ready to leave the hotel.

I NEVER unpack my clothes from my luggage and use the drawers and closets in a hotel. I basically live from the suitcase. Anyone else?

Yep!! Me too! :goodvibes We usually do splits.. so what's the point of unpacking if I'm going to repack again anyway.. It doesn't bother me one bit that our clothes stays in our luggage. It's just easier that way when we are ready to go home. All we have to pack is our toiletries and our shoes and our souvenirs.

I use ziplock bags and packing cubes, so on a longer trip I can put our things into drawers and put away the suitcases.

But there isn't enough Lysol on the planet for me to put my clothes directly into a hotel drawer.

Do y'all go barefoot in a hotel room? The last time I went barefoot in a hotel was at Disney in 96 at one of the All Stars. Our feet were black after one evening... Never again. The hotel didn't even look dirty, but our feet told a diff story. We always carry along a pair of flip flops now ;)

I try not to be a germaphobe, but it's hard. We have started checking mattresses lately for bed bugs and when we come home, our suitcases and clothes stay outside till we can clean / Lysol them. Probably not necessary or even proper procedure, but makes us feel more comfortable.

Actually proper procedure is to def. check your room and mattresses. Also clothes should go straight into the wash when you get home whether they are clean or dirty and suitcases should be cleaned out too (whether by vacuum, steaming, etc) (I know this sounds overboard but this is all per my home pest control company).

I might hang a few things on the hangers to avoid wrinkling, but other than that, we live out of our suitcases too. We did find a use for the dressers on this last trip however - we started putting our dirty clothes in them to keep them separate and out of the way. Worked great!

I hang up my clothes to get the wrinkles out. I've found if you shake them before you hang them up most of the wrinkles will fall out. I pack my clothes with the hangers. The upper part of my suitcase has a hook so that I can pack tops on the hangers and stick them on the hook, they fold in half when the lid is closed. Shorts I just lay out in the suitcase with the hanger on, jeans I fold in half. It makes it easy to just grab them out of the suitcase and straight into the closet. Underwear I leave in bags in my suitcase or throw them into a drawer for a longer stay (in the bag).

We never unpack. When I get there, I transfer all of the clothes to one bag, and I pack the dirty clothes in the empty bag as the week progresses.
