I confess I've never stayed in Concierge, so I don't know if this is OK. I was thinking, for one of my solo trips, of spending 2-3 days in DAKV concierge, without going anywhere. I'd just sit in the concierge lounge all day, reading a good book, and when I'm hungry, I'll just eat what's offered in the concierge lounge. Would that be seen as "mooching"-just hanging around the lounge eating all day? Or is it OK to do? Any other concierge 101 lessons for me?

It's absolutely ok. It's there for you as a concierge guest. The sugar cookies are my son's favorite. However, food is not available all the time. Find out when they are serving and just show up and enjoy. There is no need to spend all day in the lounge. I would compare it to sitting by the front desk all day. There are much nicer areas in AKL to read a book.

You could just read in your room or around the grounds and come back for a snack whenever you feel like :thumbsup2

I don't think you will actually want to stay in the lounge all day but what you suggest is perfectly OK.

100% FINE! Enjoy every minute of it, it is wonderful to do, a real treat. I have loved quiet time on concierge levels. Make another post when you are enjoying it...you never know some of us could be there doing the exact same thing or home wishing we were!pixiedust:

That is definitely okay! When we stayed in the concierge section, we did not sit in the lounge all day, but we did slightly plan our schedule around eating our meals. You want to make sure to get your money's worth.

There are more comfortable places to sit around all day long. I'd sit in the room and head over to the lounge if I got thirsty for some lemonade or needed a cookie.

Just don't head over to the lounge in your pajamas or your bathing suit unless you have a cover up on. And no bare feet, please.

Oh - don't ruin my early morning fun watching all the guys in their jammies getting their morning coffee. LOL That's part of the fun of staying conceirge.
:rotfl:

As others stated, you'll probably be happier enjoying other spaces around the AKL rather than hanging out in the lounge all day. For one thing, there isn't a great deal of seating and it can get busy at times. In addition, the cartoons played were on a very short cycle during our one stay there. I thought I'd go nuts and we weren't in the lounge that much.

But if you choose to do so, you can certainly stay there. We have a couple stays there coming up and I hope to enjoy the lounge in short doses.

That's what I did last August! It was so blasted hot outside, that I was only comfortable indoors( I am dealing with "power surges"), and there were several other women there, too!:rotfl:
They had food all day when I was there, and the woman who cleaned up brought stuff out for those of us who were there. I never ate anywhere but concierge in the 3 days we stayed there, and I was quite comfortable, thank you very much! I felt like I was on vacation!:rotfl2:

We stayed two nights at Grand Floridian also, the last day we lounged around after checking our bags for at least two hours (tail end of the morning service and during the afternoon chips/cookies so they were cleaning around us and such) before it was time to get on ME. No one batted an eyelash =)

Yes, whatever you do, please get dressed before heading to the lounge. And footwear is not optional.

Have fun!

LOL. Simba'sMom said nothing about going to the lounge in her jammies, folks.:goodvibes Are we going to tell her to wash her face and brush her teeth too.:rotfl:

Seriously, what you're planning is appropriate but I bet you'll want to try some other spots as well. There are so many neat nooks and crannies to enjoy at AKL.

Cruelladeville, that's funny! Also that was very nice service on the part of the CM.

Heaven's no, Simba'sMom is much too classy for that. But if she is spending lots of time in the lounge, she can come back with reports of "two men came down in pj bottoms, bare feet, unshaven and picked through the pastries" or "an entire family came directly from the pool dripping all over my book...";)

Yep, I've seen stuff like that but thankfully rarely. A couple wandering a lounge in robes, pajamas and bare feet early one morning. Another time a young women in clingy, lowslung sleep pants. Don't know what they were thinking.

Oh and a guy wearing clothes that must have cost a fortune who used the fruit tongs to pop fruit in his mouth.:scared1:

But since Simba's Mom is such a classy lady, I didn't think she deserved any admonishments.:goodvibes

that is not a pretty picture.
No, me in a bathing suit is definitely not the prettiest picture in the world, so I won't. I'm assuming Crocs and my lime green Mickey Heads will be OK. And thanks for the compliments! Now I'll just keep my fingers crossed for a concierge studio 10/26-10/28 (not like I had this all planned out or anything).

Did I hear "wine"? Is that part of the perks along with the cookies and snacks or do you pay extra for alcoholic bevs? Sorry for my lack of knowledge. Spent all my money on my education and just now am starting to make enough to enjoy the sweet life...

Oh, Now I will be afraid to eat anything!:scared1: I never even thought about going to the Lounge in PJ's. I don't go the mail box without Make up!

If it makes you feel any better, the bowl was promptly replaced with fresh fruit.

I love the makeup to retrieve the mail.:goodvibes A true Southern girl, right?:thumbsup2
