I just changed my dates from Thanksgiving week to Labor Day week for free dining and save a ton on money!!!:cool1:When I was booking the lady told me it will be busy b/c of everyone taking advantage of free dining and labor day, but will it be busier than Thanksgiving week? Now I am second guessing my decision????

We were there last year and arrived the day after labor day. The crowds were VERY minimal. We also traveled to the world during Thanksgiving week and there is NO comparison. The crowds will be less during the week. On the weekend of labor day it may be crowded, but as the week moves on the crowds will be much lower. No worries!!! Have a GREAT trip!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

You DID NOT make a mistake. We've gone the 2nd week of Sept (free dining period) for the past 5 years. While it's gotten slightly busier due to the free dining, we still end up walking onto most rides and never wait longer than 10 minutes. Most schools start BEFORE Labor Day so a lot of kiddos will be in school and parents can't/won't take them out right at the beginning of the year!

It will be WAYYYY hotter than in November though so make sure to plan for that. It's downright tropical and you will need to take a break midday due to the heat and humidity.

I think you made a great decision switching. We always go the first two weeks in Sept.

I was there the weekend of Labor Day last year and it was dead. The restaurants filled up quickly though because of free dining. It was hot though. It was a lot better then the 2nd week of December, i havent' been during Thanksgiving. Most schools are back in session during Labor day...

We went thanksgiving last year and hope to go back this year. Iti s still HOT here labor day, so I can only imagine what Disney will be. It is not my idea of a vaction to go treking around a theme park dripping sweat so we will not be going unless the average temp is low 80's to mid 70's. For me, no amount of money saved is worth enduring that kind of heat outside all day when I am supposed to be having fun. Free dining would not mean much b/c none of us would want to eat anything that wasn't frozen.

It is hotter but no way near the crowds for Thanksgiving week. You made an excellent decision

I also think that you did the right thing!!:thumbsup2 My Sister will be there at the same time as you. We come down on the 19th, and I can't wait. Stop worrying about it. It's going to be great! :goodvibes

Thanks everyone, I'm feeling better about my decision now!!!:thumbsup2 I'm not too worried about the heat, we live in the south and are used to it and we went in June 2008 and it wasn't that bad. Honestly, I was a little worried about the cooler weather in November in the mornings b/c I have osteo arthritis and fibro mialga, so the cold can ruin a day for me in a heart beat, but we deal pretty well with the heat, so I think we'll be good on that note!!! Thanks again everyone!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait!!!!!!!!!

I have been second guessing on this issue as well. I wanted to go during free dining the weekend after Labor Day instead of 2nd wk of November. But after thinking about it last night and today. I decided that I didn't like the temp's in Sept and that I was afraid we wouldn't have that great of options for meals because everybody doing free dining. So for now we have decided to go in Nov as planned. Although it would have been nice to have saved some cash for spending money.

For all those going during free dining Good luck and have fun.

We are going to get there the Sunday (Labor Day being Monday), what park would you suggest for the Sunday and the Monday, those will probably be the busiest days while we are there??? What would you suggest?
TIA

Nope, you've made a good choice. We like September. Last year we went Aug 31- Sept 6th. Crowds were really low, except for the Magic Kingdom on Labor Day. That I would avoid. Other than that you should have a really nice time.

This year we need to go earlier because we need a big ol break and can't wait until September.

I would skip MK those two days. There might be a MNSSHP on the 6th though so double check that if you want to go to the party.

On the Sunday we have always done Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Sudios. Mon. Epcot. I would def. stay away from the Magic Kingdom those two days if possible.

Thanks, we are arriving on the Sunday probably around 10 or 11am and were thinking of doing Epcot World Showcase, dinner @ Le Cellier's and on Monday Animal Kingdom first party of the day and DTD in the evening, dinner @ T-Rex, would this be a good idea? It looks like we're just swapping the 2 days, should we be okay with this?
TIA
