Please Tell Me About Your Cataracts Removal Experience

I just had my right eye done in mid September and my left eye done on Tuesday. I’m so happy I can finally see again and only have to use readers. The prep took longer than the surgery and I only need 1 eye drop a day as all the others were administered intraocularly during surgery. I go back for my 1 week follow up Monday. I’m so thrilled with the results

I'm heading to my cataract consult in about an hour. Please wish me luck and keep your fingers crossed that he says they're ready for removal because I'm sure ready!

That's great @Ning Ning!!! Best wishes.
Thanks, Dan. My first surgery is scheduled for December 10. Goodness, my doctor is a busy man! I'm going to get the Toric lenses and my cost actually made me choke and gulp a little! Medicare would pay for the "regular" lenses, but nothing for the Toric. Oh, well!

Same here. I think my cost is $1,400 per eye. Again, best wishes.

$2,499 + extra for a "surgery kit" which consists of some lubricating drops, glasses and the patch to wear home. Then, I'll also have to pay for the steroid drops as another, separate cost. They're going to drain my bank account! :rotfl2:
Wow, my cataract surgery cost me $275 for each eye. Eye drops another $7 for both. I wasn’t able to get the Toric lenses, they don’t make them strong enough to correct my bad astigmatism.

I wasn’t able to get them either because of my glaucoma. My only cost was the $7 copay for drops.

Yes, Medicare will pay all the costs for basic lenses. If toric is used (I have astigmatism) the costs are not.

Thanks-that explains why I paid extra-it was because I have astigmatism, but mild enough for the toric lenses to work. If my astigmatism had been very bad, the toric lenses wouldn’t help, I don’t think.
