Please tell me about the passports at Epcot

One other thing, I went with my nephews to get some of the autographs.

Some of the people working the booths were not particularly friendly. The lady at the American Adventure had a zero personality. Keep in mind, it was the 4th of July, and my nephew is an American kid, but she could have said Happy Independence Day or something. I wonder if they can sense a chatty kid and act accordingly.

I will say that the lady in Japan that day was terrific! Her writing, etc. was fascinating and she was very naturally friendly. You could tell she loved kids.

Will other cast members sign autograph books? For example, servers at Epcot restaurants and CMs at Epcot gift shops?

Our older son, who has Down Syndrome, is 18, and he liked getting character autographs on our first WDW vacation. There were quite a few blank pages left in his autograph book, though, so I thought this trip he could also ask CMs to sign his book.

I really want to do this with my DS. I remember when my DD was 8, she didn't seem interested in doing this. I'm hoping to convince him the next time we go.

I'm an adult and I get a passport every time I go to WDW. I love learning a little bit of each language and it's fun to get your passport stamped. :-)

We had DD have all different cast members sign her book and put where they were from. It was cool to map out where they were from when we got home.

If you go over to the DISign board, you will find people who design their own books. You just print them out and take them to Staples or somewhere and have them put into a ring binder. I don't know what the ones from the World look like, but the ones that the people over on the DISign board do are amazing!

where do I find DISign?princess:
....found it

You get alot of stickers per country. So what we did was to order the Passport ahead of our trip, and our 6 year old put them in his book on the plane ride down. Kept him busy for a little while :) Then, it also got him into visiting each country, at least a little more then in the past, to get the book stamped and signed. It's fun!

How do you order the passport ahead of time?

My daughter just collected the masks from all of the countries. It was free, and they just wrote on the mask instead of a book. I didn't even know there was another option. lol

My kids do the masks every time we go. It's great and FREE! Coloring the masks keeps the kids occupied and interested in World Showcase. The cast members will stamp the handle of the mask- I assume it's the same stamp they use for the passports. We have asked cast members to write the kids' names or a particular word in the country's language on th eback of the mask and they always oblige. It's a great souvenier to bring home!

Just want to say that they are no longer handing out the masks. They are now Duffy bears. This annoyed me as we didn't want to do the passport for the 4 year old since we didn't think she'd enjoy it. I told her she could color in the mask. Well, it was a Duffy bear and we all hated it. I should have broke down and got her a passport too but I didn't want to have to redo the countries we'd already done.

So be warned, no masks. Duffy Bears. Unless this was a Flower and Garden show thing and not a permanent thing?

This sounds like soo much fun! What a neat thing the kids can take home!!!!

Adding it to my "list" :goodvibes

We are taking our kids next summer and I want to put goodie baskets together each morning for our kiddo's from the characters/us. I would love to put the Passports in the Epcot basket. How do you order them ahead of time? :confused3

Thanks

I used the passport in conjunction with "Drinks around the World" You can find other threads that talk about that. But I would write down what we ordered (good way to remember if you like something) and then I would have the CM who sold us the beverage to write something in their language - usually a toast or some type of "good health to you" statement. It was a lot of fun and in some counties to took some explaining, but once the CM understood what we were doing they thought it was really cool.

It was a great way to strike up converstations with the CMs. Plus we met a lot of other guests who were doing the same trek. They too thought the passport was a really cool idea.

P.S. my drinks around the world include both non-adult and adult beverages.

Just was on laughingplace.com and their store link (laughingplacestore.com) has the EPCOT passport kit for $14. I remembered seeing someone on this thread was looking to order it so I thought I would share!

FYI, just checked our receipt and the Epcot passport at Mouse Gear was 9.95 plus tax on 4/3/11. This was the passport kit with Epcot button and stickers for each country.

Also, penny press book was $6.95 plus tax.

Yeah, what's up with that, is it really just for kids? That sounds like so much Fun! I LOVE The World Showcase, it's my favorite place in WDW! I'm 30 and I wanna do the passports! haha
Oh well, I guess I'll just stick to collecting drinks from around the world. ;)
It should be for everybody tho, lol
