Please take my Pirates / Safari Poll

Do POTC and KS tell stories from the beginning to end?

  • Pirates of the Carribean tells a story from beginning to end

  • Kilamonjaro Safari tells a story from beginning to end

  • Both 1 and 2 are true (e.g., both POTC and KS tell a story)

  • Neither 1 or 2 are true (e.g., POTC or KS do NOT tell a story)

  • They both tell a story, but POTC does a better job STORY TELLING

  • They both tell a story, but KS does a better job STORY TELLING

This poll involves the attractions Pirates of the Carribean and Kilamonjaro Safaris. Please take a moment to reflect on the question of story in each ride - if you answer that one or both had a story, could you please take just a moment and briefly sum up the story and post it for us? Thanks so much-

DR

Come on folks - this has turned into a very important issue for us - help us out and vote!

Thanks,

Melissa

I would love to do the poll but I don't understand what you are asking. I don't think either one has a specific story. A story has a beginning, a middle and an end. It usually is coupled with a "moral" or logical result of specific actions.

I do, however, believe that they are classified as experiences. I mean what story is Pirates telling. "It's good to be a pirate"? Safari has a sub story having to do with "illegal hunting" but it really is a very small part of the overall experience.

So add the option of "Neither one has a story but it sure is a fun experience" and I will have something to post.

Oops, is my face red. I didn't notice the fourth option. Sorry!! I shall now respond, humbly!!

Actually, thanks a lot for taking the moment to write the post - now anyone who reads what you said would know that you thought both were fun, just didn't tell a story - I think that is important info and I appreciated reading your post!!

I don't find that KS really tells much of a story. The Big Red/Little Red thing seems kind of thrown in there at the end. Pirates on the other hand shows the destruction brought on by the pirates on this Caribbean town. In the end some of them get "their own" when they are rotting in the jail cell while the dog holds the key to their escape:)

d-r, Sorry,

This is off topic but....have you all posted the 2003 pics of your around the world tour. I would like to see them but I'll need your website address.

i cannot post to your poll because i have not been on POTC.

I have been on KS however, and would agree that there are some elements of a story involved.

carene:)

I agree with goofyernmost and voted #4.
I know that most Disney attractions attempt to have a theme or story connected with them and these two do have a very (very) general story/theme. So they're more than just a "ride".
But neither seems to tell a story in any traditional sense--I mean, the first time I went on each ride, I don't recall ever thinking '"Boy. What a great story that was!!"
Both for me are a total experience kind of thing, and both are among my Disney favorites. The "story" is completely secondary to the total experience.

Disneygeek-

I need to get them up....there was this silly problem of taking the pictures with Melissa's camera instead of mine, so they ended up on her laptop instead of mine, and then I went to Japan for a few weeks - I'm back now, I'll try to have them up by the weekend-

THANKS SO MUCH for asking!! That made my day and gave me motivation to put those up!!! THANK YOU.

I don't think either one tells a story.

I never understood PotC until we went to DL and rode PotC there and THEN I got it and fell in love with the ride.

The WDW leaves out the beginning and the end of the DL ride:(

I don't believe either tells a story either. Like Goofyernmost said, there is no real beginning, middle and end. They are both well themed rides but they do kinda leave out the beginning and part of the middle.
