Really, I kinda like itBLT is a metal monstrosity. A true eyesore.
Yup, take it anyway you choose, but Riviera and BLT…. No.

I like the Disney Springs name
I liked it when it was called Lake Buena Vista market place….. never really liked the downtown name….
The ace And queen of heart are similar and have very little in common….
If you don’t think CA and Florida are even remotely similar, I think it only goes to further my point.
Perhaps I just spend way too many days in hotels for business - lived in one for 7 months. BLT is just too sterile and business like, for me. To be fair, after 31 years. I've stayed at BWV for one night, Saratoga (HATED) for a week, and was moved once this year to Poly Concierge and l loved that but the rest of the incalculable number of days, it's been at OKW.If you read a couple of the posts that point out that every resort has it's detractors you'll recognize that BLT is just one of those. My family (and I) love it. Last stay was there in late Oct/Nov last year. It's getting to be on the long end of refurb time - should have been getting it's 1st full refurb this year. It has had a soft goods refurb though since opening. Our room was in very good condition.
Basically - take any hate such and such resort, and actually any love such and such resort worth a grain of salt. They are all opinions and differences of what we are looking for in a resort.
On Riviera you really did not dig deep enough as it has more detraction points for some than just the pool.
Hilton Diamond for lifePerhaps I just spend way too many days in hotels for business - lived in one for 7 months. BLT is just too sterile and business like, for me. To be fair, after 31 years. Wait - so you haven't stayed at BLT but are declaring it too sterile and business like?Perhaps I just spend way too many days in hotels for business - lived in one for 7 months. Just how many boxes do you have that need to be checked ?Wait - so you haven't stayed at BLT but are declaring it too sterile and business like?
I've never lived in one for 7 months (thank goodness!) but have also done a fair amount of business travel. Never once did I go to bed with fireworks out the windows over a castle then wake up to ferry boats, monorails and train whistles while staying at them. haha
It's the problem of "future type" theming that they've always had with the CR. After the horrendous color wheel blob they had at the CR in the early 2000's I'm really fine with where BLT has been. I'm on vacation and can enjoy different decors than I have in my home. BLT was the one that when I saw it I said if that is DVC it might finally get me to buy. And what did I do before it went on sale? Bought VWL resale. Can you get a more opposite design/decor?
Honestly though I don't hate any DVC resort. Pluses and minuses to every single one as DVC has yet to check all the boxes at any one of them.
Dining, good pools that accommodate the resort needs, quiet rooms. Thoughtful layouts are nice. It's a real tough list, eh? Just basic hotel amenities that are somewhat commensurate for the price charged.Just how many boxes do you have that need to be checked ?
Yea we can just agree to disagreeDining, good pools that accommodate the resort needs, quiet rooms. Thoughtful layouts are nice. It's a real tough list, eh? Just basic hotel amenities that are somewhat commensurate for the price charged.
The pools tend to be the most common failures at Disney IMO. A few locations its the dining options. Aulani is the best DVC resort when considering all of those things but they had some major changes during the 1st couple of years to get there.
Excellent location, almost as good as BC/BW imo.It is a great resort regardless of what part of the property it is located on
I would consider Poly an "almost" Epcot resort just like Riviera. Both are excellent locations IMO.I consider Poly an Epcot resort, what with its easy access to the Epcot monorail. But only to Future World (or whatever they're calling it these days). I consider World Showcase (and that entrance) a separate park, since they're so far from each other.
I wouldn't know what I was disagreeing with as I was quoting someone else when you asked your question.Yea we can just agree to disagree
But we DO have an actual beach, with water and waves right next to the sand that you can actually go in and not just look at (and pretty much zero sharks or jelly fish and absolutely no gators). You could also go skiing/snowboarding one day if you get up early enough, or stay late enough.I wouldn't even call them similar. MK, yes. But does CA have Epcot, AK, Studios, Blizzard Beach or Typhoon lagoon, Disney Springs (dumbest name change ever and kind of offensive), or all the resorts? No, it does not. One is a 2 day trip; the other is at least a week.
I'm not dissing CA. Just the people that confuse the two after being told multiple times. But we DO have an actual beach, with water and waves right next to the sand that you can actually go in and not just look at (and pretty much zero sharks or jelly fish and absolutely no gators). I prefer Downtown Disney or Shopping plaza to Disney "Springs". It has a worldwide connotation that I'd rather not see any more of than I have to much less celebrate. Just ask the former IT workers of Disney...Who was Disney marketing to with that name? There isn't a spring there that I am aware of. Just seems like a really out of place name for the shopping part of Disney. I feel like it was targeted to a specific set of people that might visit that might have money. But what do I know? I'm not a marketing person.I like the Disney Springs name

So thank you
I believe that when they redesigned and rebranded they created a “Spring” of the Disney flavor….I prefer Downtown Disney or Shopping plaza to Disney "Springs". They did. They went to a great deal of effort to transform the body of water that separated Pleasure Island from the remainder of Downtown Disney into a spring resembling the natural springs found in various places in Florida. Homecomin’ restaurant, D-Luxe Burger and other restaurants near the spring have backstories that relate to Florida history.I believe that when they redesigned and rebranded they created a “Spring” of the Disney flavor….
So ”The Springs” is a valid a proper nameThey did. PLEASE,,,,,Stop calling Riviera an EPCOT resort.
