Recently (maybe not so recently, I honestly don't remember! :lmao:) Kevin did a review on a guidebook to Walt Disney World. He gave it a positive review, and said it was much better than the average, run of the mill WDW guidebook. Does anyone remember the name of this book? I find that most WDW guidebooks are boring and repetitive, and something like this might be interesting. Thanks in advance!

Was it "The Complete Walt Disney World" by Julie and Mike Neal? I think I remember him liking that one. (I have it, and I enjoy it too.)

That could be it, because now that you mention it, I do seem to remember the authors being a couple, or at least sharing a last name.

Going to research it now!

Thanks!

It has been a favorite of mine for years & I have given it as a gift. I actually found it on my own and was so excited when Kevin recommended it that I found myself yelling at the radio, "I have it, it is good." :lmao: :thumbsup2Penny

Ok, this book must be good if Kevin and others here are saying so. You know how it is with those of us with "The Disney Gene". We're so passionate, and many of us have been so for so long, that many guidebooks, well written as they may be, seem elementary and basic to us.

I'm going to pick this book up today I think.

I love this book...in 2008 we were in AK, around the Tree of Life and this young girl came up to us and started a conversation. She gave us so many facts about how the tree was made, how long it took....then she walked with us to our next destination. Before we parted ways, she handed me a book and said you can have this, my parents are the writers. At first I wasn't sure, but then I saw her picture in the book. She was such a nice girl.

How cool is that, meeting their daughter. :goodvibes

I stopped buying guide books a while ago. However, i think this book is more than a guide book, it's entertaining reading. I learned some things also. Enjoy it

It's a great book. I wouldn't call it a "guidebook", really. Wouldn't advise people - especially newbies - to use it for planning purposes.

But I really like that book.

I have to disagree w/ everyone else... I picked up this book when it first came out...eager to read it w/ so many glowing reviews...and thought it wasn't that great. :confused3

Yes, the photos are beautiful, but I don't really see it as a guide book since it is heavy on history and back story and light on, well being a guide book. There was little to no useful logistical information which I feel is essential for a WDW guide book.

HOWEVER, I do think that the book is worthwhile for additional information (and the pictures) after having a PassPorter and an Unofficial Guide for planning! :thumbsup2

You didnt disagree with me. :)

In fact you pretty much summed up my review from when I first reviewed it.

It's not a guide book per se......it's a great companion to a trip to the parks as it is FILLED with fascinating and obscure info that some folks will love.

It's an awesome book...but not a guidebook in the literal sense.

:cool1: Well that makes me feel better!

I actually prefer the Imagineering guides for books that have the 'back story' rather than the Complete Guide. I find them more comprehensive and pack them in my carry on for every trip! :thumbsup2
