Please Share Your Experiences On POFQ

If we can not afford the YC for our 25th anniversary - our moderate choice is POFQ.

I have read so many good reviews about POFQ.

Our reasons for POFQ being our #1 moderate:
1) Boat to DTD
2) carriage rides
3) the landscaping and coblestone 'streets' are beautiful
4) :goodvibes 1st bus stop :goodvibes
5) moderates have a refirgerator
6) I have read the POFQ pool is not bad for teen kids
(can anyone verify teens like the pool ?)
7) The room can fit a sleeping bag & double blowup matress for our teen DD who will not sleep in the same bed with her older teen brother.
8) curtain in the sink area so the men can dress away from the ladies
9) POFQ would save us for a 13 night stay $2400, if we did not stay at the YC
10) Our DD with Celiac can even find items to eat:
Fresh Sliced Beef or Turkey at Riverside Mill food court
Grilled Chicken at Riverside Mill & Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory

A couple things...

The teens will be fine in the pool as long as they aren't expecting to use the slide. It is for the 10 and under crowd.

You can definitely use a sleeping bag on the floor and MAYBE a twin inflatable mattress(it will be tight), but no way are you fitting a double mattress in the available floor space.

Your teens can use the pool at POR and that slide may be more to their liking.

Agree with everything the other DISers said, stayed there twice (07 the most recent) and loved everything about it! Great choice :thumbsup2

Thanks for this thread! As if I needed another reason to be excited... We'll be at POFQ late September - the first time we'll be at the same resort twice. We fell in love with it last trip. Don't know what your touring plans for parks are for while you're there, but my kids loved to wake up the alligators at the pool. Check with a CM while you're there about the timing, I think it was around 9 am. Nothing HUGE, but another magical moment for my kids, then 5 & 7, especially since they were the only ones there.

I too am looking forward to my trip at POFQ. My DD and I are going there in September for our 10th anniversary. I was debating between the Poly and POFQ but I hear so many great things about FQ that the money we will save is worth it.... I hope your trip is truly MAGICAL!!!!!

I am so glad to read so many positive things about FQ. We are staying here from sept 19th till Oct 3rd and can`t wait. Only our second visit to WDW but first staying onsite so very excited:yay:
Think it will suit us very well. Can I just ask how long does the boat to DTD take? Not that we`ll be in any rush to get anywhere, we will have a car but for those little evenings where we fancy a cocktail or two :woohoo:
Also our son is 14 and I understand there is a little arcade in the resort, but is it aimed at little ones or are there games for all ages. :goodvibes

See the arcade pics in my review(link below). There are plenty of games for teens, but they will burn through the points on a refillable card pretty quick. I took my daughter in there one evening and she went through $20 in less than an hour.

We loved POFQ!

We had breakfast on benches near the water almost every morning.

The grounds are so peaceful.

They start playing music in the streets pretty early and play it all day. When we visited POR two mornings, the music didn't go on until 10 or 11 am.

The room was very clean. We had plenty of towels, soap, shampoo, etc.

We received 6 towel animals and most mornings the faucets and/or tub were decorated as animals, too :lmao:

Bell services accepted our grocery order for us (including beer) and kept the cold things refrigerated.

The boatride to DTD was pleasant. We rode it back during an eclipse- so we watched it from the water :goodvibes (The boatride took 15-20 minutes depending on how long it took to load the boat and which stop we used at DTD.)

The pool was closed, but the walk to the POR pool wasn't that long (went there 2x). We all agreed that we still liked POFQ better, because POR was so spread out.

My son enjoyed the arcade. It doesn't use cash. A machine dispenses cards that you add money to as needed. It took a few minutes to figure out, but is more convenient than cash.

We had a couple dinners in their food court and enjoyed the variety :thumbsup2

Every employee was friendly and helpful :wizard:

We enjoyed hearing the horse and carriage go by the few nights we got in early, but never had a chance to take a ride for ourselves. Maybe next time.

We thought it was okay. Very small resort and easy to get around. The food court was average. We didn't care for the shared buses with POR. They can get very crowded at times.

another thanks for this thread! Currently planning a last minute trip with my friend, and we finally decided on POFQ! (She has already been, but we have that issue with choosing resorts and sticking with them! lol)

I have wanted to stay here since our wedding/honeymoon trip in 03....had a bunch of rooms here then they called to announce their refurb, oh thanks! lol

So anyone have any tips for the OP and the rest of us regarding corner rooms, location for the best river view? THanks!
