DH and I are leaving in 11 days and we are looking for any and all information with regards to POFQ.

Anyone who has stayed there before, please share your stories with us.

Looking forward to the responses . . thanks in advance:)

Stayed there in 06 and will be there again in Aug 7th till the 17th. I personally loved it. I have a little one (6) and since the resort isn't gigantic like the other ones its great. Not too much walking to get anywhere. My daughter loves the boat ride to DD. The pool is nice. The only drawback is there is no table service reastaurant there. You have to go to Riverside for a table service reastaurant . I persoanlly don't care because my daughter would like to just grab a hot dog or burger. The 2 resorts share bus service unless its really crowded and they stop at FQ first going and coming which is a plus. They have a little arcade room for kids. The grounds are really nice and you can rent a horse and buggy ride. The washer and dryer are by the pool so you can throw a load in and go swimming. Just writing all this is getting me anxious. LOL Any more questions and I'd be happy to answer if I can remember. LOL

We have stayed there a couple of times, and thought it was very nice, clean rooms, nice grounds. Here are a couple of pix for you. We didnt use the busses so I cant comment, food court was good.

Have a great trip, :goodvibes

We have stayed there four times and have fallen in love with the resort. We are staying at the Beach Club in September because we could afford it with free dining. We really considered booking two rooms at PO-FQ, but decided that the pool at the Beach Club was too good to pass up. We stayed at the French Quarter on our first family Disney trip 10 years ago and have never regreted staying there. The rooms are great for a moderate. The Unofficial Guide says that they rival the deluxe resorts at half the price, and I have to agree, especially since the renovation a few years ago. We have tried PO-Riverside, but prefer the FQ. Everything is so beutiful and compact. The buses are the first to pick up in the Port Orleans complex and that is a big plus. The grounds and detailing are spectacular. We have always had consitently good Mousekeeping. There is a jazz musician that pays at Scat Cat's Club on certain nights, if you are so inclined. We like him and the piano player at PO-R. It is easy to get to the other resort and a very pleasant stroll at night. The boat ride to DowntownDisney is pure WDW magic. I hope you have a wonderful time and enjoy your stay!!!

We have stayed at FQ and Riverside. I liked the Riverside but loved the FQ. We used Disney transportation while there and loved the fact that it picked up and dropped off first at FQ before going to Riverside. The food court was fine, just your average food court. The beinets were not that great...compared to the real beinets from New Orleans. We enjoyed our stay and would stay there again. I think you will have a great time. Enjoy your trip!:) :)

We also love POFQ!! We will be there in 6 days!! My 2 DS's are 19 & 15 & they feel it is the best resort we have stayed at. We have also stayed at Pop, All Star Movies, & CBR. We love the size of the resort, the boat to DTD, the grounds are beautiful, the buses are great being that you are picked up first & Elliott Dyson is great to listen to at Scat Cats Lounge. Mousekeeping was great last year & we had no issues. Can't wait for Friday!! Here are some pictures I took last April:

We'll be at POFQ in July. Thanks for this thread, Wish Upon a Star. We've stayed at POR before, but not POFQ. Now I'm really excited! :thumbsup2

I first tried to stay here back when they closed it after 9/11. I've tried at least 4 times since then, and every time I end up not staying there for one reason or another ~ well, I am FINALLY going to get my chance this July! I am really excited about it, I am definitely going to try out the boat to DD.

Jumping in to say thanks for the pictures!! WE are staying here for the first time in August and can't wait!

My husband and I stayed there on our anniversary trip in January. It was fairly quiet, easy to get around and fine for the two of us. The food court was very busy each time we were in there and seemed kind of small to us, but the food was pretty good. We only ate breakfast there, though. One of the ladies in the gift shop was especially kind to us; my husband wanted to trade for one of her pins but didn't have his with him and she gave it to him without a trade.

We took the boat to DTD on our last night and it was a nice ride, maybe a little longer than I expected.

We love POFQ - for all the reasons said before. We've stayed there for longer stays as well. Its a great place for a longer stay because there is a lot to do with a very comfortable feeling and the price is reasonable.

We request a room near the food court (building 4 facing the courtyard) and everything is convenient. Unlike other moderates, from building 4 (and I think other buildings), you can walk along the building under the covered walkway and then go into the main building so that if it is raining, you have only a short distance where you'll get wet. That is a big issue for me because at my first moderate stay (POR -mansions) I got stuck in a huge rainstorm and remember waiting for the rain to end to get to the main building.

We like to walk down to the sassagoula in the evening and from the path we watch the boats, the horse and carriages, ducks - really nice. The food court is great. For breakfast I like the fresh yogurt and berry parfaits that they make. For dinner, they have real dinner items - such as roast chicken, pot roast and mashed potatoes that make for a good, easy and affordable dinners with kids. They also have scooped ice-cream which I like for later at night.

Several nights a week, there is good entertainment in the lounge off the lobby. You can also do the river cruise to downtown disney. Even if you don't want to shop there, the river cruise is very scenic.

We've always had a car there so I can't comment on the buses, but for driving its in a good central location.

I feel POFQ offers a lot of options and a resort feel and is a good value for the price. Have a great vacation.

Make reservations for the horse drawn carriage ride. You walk over to POR. The road takes you around POR and POFQ. Very nice!
You can't beat the boat ride to DTD.
We didn't think the busses were bad at all.

Enjoy your trip!

I have stayed there a few times and it is a great resort. Only downside is that the DTD bus does RS before FQ. Not a huge problem, but if you are planning on getting back to your resort for a certain time, you need to budget in the extra 10 mins while it does the RS loop. FQ itself is well designed, and a great size.

Thanks for all the pics and sharing your experiences! We stayed at POR in October and although we liked it, we didn't love it . . .we've heard that POFQ was smaller and more quaint and after reading your responses we are truly looking forward to our trip!:cool1:

Thanks again!:thumbsup2

We stayed there last fall for 10 days. I'll be totally honest with you, I had no interest what so ever in staying there when we booked it. We stayed at the old Dixie Landings (now Riverside) years ago and it was so so. Also, I really like having a balcony or patio which POFQ does not offer.

However, after a couple of days, I was a true convert with POFQ. It ended up being our favorite vacation. Not entirely because of POFQ but it did help. The rooms are just like any other moderate. But, the small size of the resort and the landscaping made it feel much nicer. Every building is just a short walk to the pool or main building. The "feel" of the place was nice too. I should say we had a rental car so that made things very easy for us. There is a boat that goes to DTD but we only took that once. As far as not having a balcony or patio is concerned, I did miss it. But I would wander down the main building, get my coffee and sit out at one of the tables in the courtyard. Not quite the same but totally fine.

The food court was often quite crowded first thing in the morning but we were there during free dining so maybe that had something to do with it. Housekeeping was excellent. The staff was always very friendly. We would often walk over to Riverside in the evening just to enjoy the sites.

I would stay there any time now. You are going to have a great time. :)

As you can see below we have stayed at POR twice and POFQ once, albeit a sickness shortened stay. We have POFQ booked again for Nov., and have our fingers crossed we can keep the reservation due to the increase of prices for everything. POFQ is best for us because 1. I still have little ones that do not like to walk much at night after being in the parks all day and everything is very close to the bus stop. 2. We are yogurt, fruit and cereal breakfast eaters and can have everything for breakfast in our little fridge in the room so table service is not important as that is one of the reasons we go to Disney is for all of the different places to eat at the parks and resorts. 3. POFQ is the last stop before going to DTD and the first stop returning and we go to DTD for Wolfgang Pucks to eat and the kids love it as they can run around, and my wife and I love it because of the Margarita stand.:thumbsup2

Love, Love, Love POFQ. I've stayed there a bunch of times and we are staying there again in October. It's a nice walk along the Sassagoula to get to Boatwrights if you want to eat there. We also enjoy the boat ride to DTD and like everyone else has said, it's not too big so you don't feel like you are walking miles to get to the main building. My daughter LOVED the pool slide last time we went and is really looking forward to going back. Enjoy your stay.

I am going to pass these positive statements of POFQ to my sister and family. They are going for their first WDW trip in a couple of weeks. They are staying at POFQ. I suggested that resort for newbies because of the size and the one bus stop for that resort. I didn't want them confused with a large resort.
