My son is telling me that there is no more fast pass in thepark. He said they got rid of the kiosk. I am not talking about fast pass plus but rather the old everyday fast pass for those of us who do not stay inthe park. Is this true? Can only those who stay on property use fast pass AND is the old system still in place for this summer.

Not true.

Fastpass is still in place for everyone to use (on or off property).

This week they were doing a test of the new Fastpass+ system people involving some people staying at the Contemporary and AKL. That system will allow you to prebook some Fastpasses before your vacation. But all things indicate that will be available to both on and off site guests as well. For this test, they chose people staying on site only to make things simple probably.

When we were there early this month there was still fass pass and the kiosk. However I know they are changing the system and I am not sure how it will fully look, but there still will be fast passes.

Here is a thread where they talk about fast passes now and how they are changing. There are more threads too. Hope it helps

Ahhh It feels so good to be right! I am glad I was correct. I do not like what will be the new system and I see it being sold in a few years like Universal does.

Everyone above is right but eventually probably a few years after the FP+ system is fully rolled out the old system will be gone. They are supposed to get rid of the old system after the new one is rolled out so they don't have to deal with both.

I have been told by multiple cast members that in all briefings they have been given they will still have both standard and plus fast passes

Discovery Island CM's were also assured by Disney that DI would not close after AK opened. Like with all companies, Disney is not going to make front line employees aware of long term plans until absolutely necessary. I think at this point, any information released to the public should be taken with a grain of salt. Ultimately, it's a wait and see game. Hopefully, traditional FP will never go away though I would imagine the full roll out of FP+, Disney will limit the traditional FP's more.

My husband always says once Dinsey finds out something is good or a value they either get rid of it or jack up the price. He uses the schoolbread in NOrway as his measure. yes the price has remained the same the quality of the product has plummeted. This is just a symbol for many of the good things Disney seems to take away and this is why I have this gut feeling that they will go the way of Universal.

Do you have a source on this or is this your opinion?

There have been interviews with higher ups and some documentation that suggests that once FP+ is released, the existing, paper-based FP system will be phased out.

What that actually means is one of the great unanswered questions of the FP+ system.

Or you can look at the other side of the fence and think that in 15 months Bob Iger, who is a big proponent of FP+ is going to retire. That could mean that we will only have to wait 15 more months before they scrap FP+ if public opinion is against it.

There is a lot of conflicting info coming out of Disney mouths right now from various levels - but I think good money is that regular FP will be completely retired not long after FP+ is fully rolled out and available to everyone.

How long THAT takes is the real question.

15 months? He was originally supposed to retire as CEO in March 2015 (20 months), but remain as chairman until June 30th, 2016...but they've decided to let him keep both until the later date.

So you'll have to wait three years now...
