Three weeks ago we learned my DH would be stationed in GA. I was so looking forward it, actually I was excited because we would be within driving range of WDW. I was even trying to plan a weekend trip in September. We had started looking at houses over the internet.

Today my DH calls to tell me not to make plans, that his orders just got yanked. Now he is thinking it could be Maryland, California, or even Alaska. Not that these other states are bad, lived in Maryland and loved it, always wanted to go to Alaska, and California would be cool. Wanted to be somewhere where we could afford a nice house and trips to WDW.

This effects my DH's career also, he is facing a huge promotion this year and this is not what he needs.

The worst part is my DH is in Iraq, so there isn't much we can do to comfort each other.

I'm sorry, I guess I just need a shoulder to cry on and all of the members here are always so nice.

Sending ((hugs)) and prayers from MD. It takes a very special breed to be in the military to be able to adjust to last minute orders and life changes. Thank you both for your sacrifices. Godspeed your DH to stay safe, gets his promotion and family gets a suitable location.

Everything will work out.:wizard: It must be great to travel and live in different places! Good luck to both of you and thanks too for the sacrifice of together time that you're both making for all of us.

DAISY DUCK FAN!

Thank you for the Pixie Dust.

Thank you. We are Air Force ourselves.

Thank you. This is the first time our orders have been changed like this. I guess we have always been pretty lucky. I saw you have a loved one that did a tour in Iraq, glad he or she made it back safe and sound.

I broke out in tears again when I saw your responses when I returned from getting my boy. I am so glad I found this wonderful family here on the Disboards. My DMIL said doors always close, and when the next one opens, it is something better. So, I am saying my prayers and hoping we hear something Monday!

Thank you rie'smom. You posted as I was posting my other thank you's.

It is fun to travel and meet other people. I have always looked at every move as an adventure. Almost 12 years of marriage and we have lived in Alabama, South Carolina, Maryland (DC), and back to Texas. The worst part is always saying goodbye to the friends you have met at each location.

Again, all of you have made me feel much better.:flower3:

Hi there, we are also a military family. We were supposed to leave this post this year. We've been here 6 years. Can you believe 6 years in one place?!?! My husband's orders were deleted. I was crushed to be honest because I just wanted some time that wasn't constant coming and going of deployments but I guess God needs us elsewhere.

I'm sorry that you are going through this. It's even more stressful when your loved one isn't there to help figure out the details and your loved one is stressing even more which causes even more stress lol. I hope you get everything straightened out quickly. I know it's such a pain and I hope your husband comes home quickly and safely.:)

Tina~ I love the new picture of you and your Matt!!!

And to all the military and their families~ THANK YOU for all of your sacrifices. Thanks for keeping us safe and free.:grouphug:

Sorry to hear you are going through the same thing. No, couldn't imagine 6 years in one place. The most we have had is 4 and the only reason it went to 4 is because the DH volunteered to go to Saudi and now Iraq. That's right, he volunteered.

Spoke to him this morning, he is a little better, but not by much. It didn't help that we learned this on a Friday when there isn't much that you can do. Like you, I feel God needs us elsewhere.

I sure do appreciate these boards. It's nice to have a shoulder to cry on every now and then. Everyone is so supportive. This was my first time on the Community Board and was on it for several hours last night. You will probably see more of me out here.

Thank you to everyone.

I hope everything works out for you & your DH! I am always so impressed by the men & women of our Armed Forces. We could not live the lives we have without them.

My DH is Air Force. Which base in Alaska? We are at Eielson and I can honestly say THANK GOD we are leaving in June. I am tired of frezzing my hiney off!

Hang in there. Each assignment has its silver lining.

I thought I would die when DH got stationed in San Antonio--and then I absolutely fell in love with the city.

When DH got his assignment to Mississippi, I knew life really was over. LOL, I was right! Just kidding. We renovated our house there and made a bunch of money on it. Granted, I had to homeschool one daughter and put another one into a hospital for depression, but we all made it through.

We were also in a panic over my husband's forced retirement at 20 years when he didn't promote to Lt. Colonel. But honestly, his retirement has been the best thing that ever happened to us!

Everything happens for a reason, and while it doesn't always turn out like you expected...it always turns out.

:rotfl2: How funny. I was just telling my DH how Alaska has always interested me and how I have never heard anyone complain about it.

We don't know which base they were talking about, it just came up. We hope to know something this week.

My DH is up for Lt. Col. this year so that is why he is freaking out. I hate to hear you had to go through all of that in Mississippi. One of our concerns is our boy. He is ADHD and has Sensory Processing Disorder. We finally have him in the right direction, switched schools this year and it has worked wonderfully. I have already told DH that if it comes down to it, I will homeschool. I won't put my boy through the same thing as last year. Your exactly right, it always works out in the end.

Wishing you good luck! Being stationed in GA is nice. We were stationed in Ft Stewart for 3 years before we got out and it was so nice only being a 4 hour drive from WDW. Hopefully everything will turn out the way you want!

LOl, I felt the same when my ex got his orders for Germany. It ended up being my favorite place that we were stationed!

We are AF also and have been so lucky to get stationed in places we really love!!
I am sending pixie dust your way for the station that you want!!! Good luck....I know ya need it!!!
