Please save my marriage!!

Yes, the veranda staterooms are a bit more expensive, but you can add us to the group that thought it was well worth it. As others have said, sitting out in the morning with a cup of coffee and just enjoying the sounds and view.

At night, before turning in....the cooler breezes, the sounds of hte ocean, being able to sit and look aft and see a the sky filled with stars and looking forward and seeing the amazing display of a thunderstorm in the distance.

It's private enough and extremely peaceful. We found ourselves sitting out WAY past or "normal" bedtime....

OK, maybe that was an overstatement, but my wife and I are in a perpetual disagreement over the value of a verandah. 0. So those of you who are experienced DCL patrons, please tell me what you think. (Maybe I can get some ammunition to win this epic struggle!!) Thanks:wave2:

Think wet chairs, railings, and a slippery deck in the morning....Hydroplaning with a tray of coffee is pretty tricky....

Unless you get a plexiglass-walled verandah, you're destined to sit on a plastic garden chair and just listen to the view of water rushing by or stand and listen to the kids complain about not being tall enough to see over the rail...

I have a photo of Cash with his nose up periscope style as we sailed past Nassau. I know very well what he was thinking.... We finally went up to deck 9 so he could look...

But the joy of the huge window/door and all that sunlight, the opportunity to watch the docking routines without having to collect all those you don't want to leave behind in the stateroom....priceless

An aftertought after reading more comments --

The ability to be able to step out in your PJs with uncombed hair and no make-up and watch the view or docking or passing ships in the night, or the stars or the sunrise/sunset......also priceless. And the ability to do all this while the rest of your family is sleeping and not have to leave them in the cabin to experience it -- worth every penny.

hello :wave2: We have not sailed as of yet but we will have a verandah. We are looking forward to because as most families we are a 2 parent working family with 2 busy DS and do not always have as much family time as we would like. In the mornings we will eat breakfast out there and not have to fight the crowds. We will have breakfast delivered so we can be in our jammies, talk about the day to come and the day that was. In the evenings we are looking forward to our "private" viewing of the sunset and our "private" sunrises. ::yes::

I know it is yet another chunk of $$$ but I say GO FOR IT!! ::yes::

Have a great trip!:boat:

LOVED IT. We were not on it a whole lot, but some of my favorite moments & pictures came from the verandah. Every morning and every night I spent a little time on my verandah. :sunny:

I am of the "Go for It" camp. Get the verandah and you will not regret it. We loved ours. Watching all the activity below when docking, people running to make the ship, luggage being delivered in St. Maarten first thing in the morning. Just be sure to actually wear your pj's when docked across from another ship. You can see right into the rooms of your neighbors. Poor lady....

But yes, kids napping and you having the verandah, late night drinks and reading. Listening to the ocean pass by. It is all worth it to us. So go for it and enjoy. Let us know what you decide....

Absolutely take The Wog's advice!!

On our very first cruise (on the Wonder), we thought it was so great to leave our balcony door and curtains open for the fresh sea air and the sound of the ocean. However, it never occurred to us that we would be pulling into port RIGHT NEXT to another ship! When we woke up, we were docked in Nassau and there were a bunch of people on the deck of the ship next to us looking into our room!

So, if not at sea, definitely take precautions  :rotfl: :rotfl:
