For our August 6-12th trip, I have followed the recommendations of Josh at Easywdw and generally avoided the parks with EMH. However, I'm rethinking! Specifically, I can see how on a hot, summer day it is better to do more early and take advantage of the cooler temps. How have the crowds been recently during morning EMH? Any comments would be appreciated!

My wife and I love the morning EMH's.

We go nearly every morning when there is one
available.
We used to go to "EE" (early entry) back before EMH
was started.

But, she always warns me to NOT TELL EVERYONE about how
fun and easy the AM EMH's are, because then the early
parks will be too BUSY for us to enjoy.

But, I always tell HER not to worry.

Most folks simply will NOT get up early on vacation!
Nothing will change their minds.

So I am here to say,
"THANK YOU" to all of the sleepy-heads...
They make my AM EMH's about the best, most private and
carefree times we ever have at the parks!

And I know I won't be seeing them coming in until,
oh, 10:30-11:00am, when I'm on my way Park-Hopping OUT of that park!

;)

This exactly the case as DW & I (with or w/o DDs) have found it to be over the years. We were just there 2 weeks ago & you could tell when it was getting close to 10:30, as the crowds started to pick up.

You are right, in August you need to prioritize the heat issue. I think EMHs in the hot weather make perfect sense (just like saving your FPs for the afternoon might not due to the storms!)

We stayed offsite and I can tell you the EMH at AK is sorely underutilized! We got there at RD on an EMH day and went straight to safari with no wait. FP for Kali, EE, and M&G with Mickey. our FP+ were for late morning/early afternoon when crowds were highest so it worked great. by 6pm crowds thinned considerably (park open til 8) and we rode EE 4x with virtually no wait. We got lucky and happened to be in shows when the afternoon storms hit

We were just there during the 16th-25th, and we had great success during morning EMH. We got a LOT done at AK. We also thought it was good at MK. Crowds didn't build at AK until 10:30, but it got busier quicker at MK--by 10:00. It got crazy busy at Epcot on the EMH day we were there. We had a productive morning, but we left after lunch and there were still hoards of people arriving. I'd still go to the EMH there again. Overall, I think it's a great use of time and you can get a lot accomplished. We did both EMH mornings and regular morning rope drops so it's easy for me to see a difference. I especially think in the August heat, I'd make use of morning EMH.

How much do you think you can get done during morning EMH? If we arrive at 730....I'm wondering how many we can get done before 11am?

We want to do:
PP
Pooh
IASW
Jungle Cruise
Pirates
7 Mine train
Under the sea
Speedway
Dumbo
barnstormer
HM

He's not quite 40 yet so hence no 'big rides' are planned.

Speedway - this one will take a lot of waiting time,
so if you do it during AM EMH, you may have to sacrifice
one or two of the ones above.)

7 Mine train - this one will take a lot of waiting time,
so if you do it during AM EMH, you may have to sacrifice
one or two of the ones above.)

IASW - you can save till after EMH
Dumbo - you can save till EMH

---------------------------------------------

Jungle Cruise - Not open during AM EMH
Pirates - Not open during AM EMH
HM - Not open during AM EMH

---------------------------------------------

You can get MANY of the entire list done by 11-11:30AM, depending on overall crowd level
and FP+ choices.
