Howdy doo! I know there is a website where renters can check if their reservation is "in the system" by entering the number. However, I cannot remember the web address. I would like to provide the address to someone who is renting some of our points.

Thanks in advance for the memory jog!

Evey =)

Before renting from a private person, first check to see if they indeed are owners and have points to rent. It never hurts to check first before doing business with someone you don't know.

The owner will be registered with the Orange count court house.

That's definitely a good way to check ownership, but if you're booking more than 31 days out with the owner's current points, it's even safer to ask them to make the reservation before payment. With the confirmation number, you can go to the site above, verify that the reservation is actually secured IN YOUR NAME (as the renter) and all is in order before you send the check. In that case, if the renter fails to send the money in a reasonable time period (perhaps one to two weeks maximum... or whatever payment arrangements you have made between the parties), the owner of the points can cancel without penalty and the renter has also been able to verify that the reservation has indeed been made correctly.

Not always. If the member borrowed points, that cannot be undone.

Only points owned at Walt Disney World resorts will show up there. DVC owners could also be listed in Beaufort County, SC, Indian River County, FL, Orange County, CA and Honolulu, HI.

I do always point out that this is not foolproof, however. I have some of my contracts in my previous married name (I remarried after being widowed) and there is no need to change my deeds (ie spend the $$) until I intend to sell, or pass away.

So anyone checking on my ownership will not find my contracts under my current name. :scared1:

:thumbsup2

Could also be in a spouse's name, the name of a trust, a corporation, etc. Searching for certain names is also troublesome in many databases. I have a relative who goes by "Tom" but his legal name is "J. Thomas". Hard telling how that would appear in any public records search.

I've never successfully searched for my contract with my hyphenated name. Good thing it's easy to find my husband's name.

Also, it's much easier now that they send email confirmations. It's really a confirmation number with a link to the reservation.

CarolAnnC, I hope you have no actual intentions of passing away ;)!
