Everyone posting here-Please keep in mind operational security-the BAD GUYS read the net like everyone else and google crawlers will find info on this board same as any where else-ive seen two posts today that listed Names and addresses of soldiers stationed in combat zones-if this were a military support board those posts were be deleted. PLEASE for the safety of our loved ones DO not post addresses, travel dates, locations or other information that could be used by the bad guys-be general and if you want to share that information with others do it via PMs or email. However well meant it is and however harmless it seems its not a good idea-would you post your home address?.
Not trying to be ugly or mean-just remind you all of the need to be aware adn keep our boys safe

THANKS and God Bless them all

I'm glad to see someone bring this up. I made mention of OPSEC in a thread over a year ago and was flamed by the 1st Amendment crowd. Some people seem to think that all troop movements, unit locations, etc, should be public knowledge no matter who gets hurt.

I appreciated the reminder, and went to check and see if I needed to edit any of my posts. I did edit a few, due to the mention of my DH's base location. God bless and keep our troops safe!

Thank you very much jsmith, I appreciate your reminder!

I see soldiers addies shared often on Dis and share your fear.
Now the news reporting you can google most bases, posing a real threat to our soldiers. I remember our soldier telling us one of their missions failed because of someone relaying TMI. When leaving for Iraq, he made up codes to use for our family members, but shared very little of what was actually going on as not to jeopardize their mission.

God bless our soldiers and lets' do our part to keep them safe ^i^.

Yep, DH and I spoke in our own "code" while he was in Iraq. We used it on IM and emails too and never used real "times" or days either.

I was careful not to put his camp(s), mission, or other important info online. Something I did not care to take a risk with. There were times I would have LOVED to have added info (facts about "things" in Iraq that I knew to be true or false) to certain threads, but refrained somehow! :bitelip:

We got very good speaking in code and do it for fun now that he is home! :)

Thanks for the reminder. Even though there is SO much info online on the camps, etc, there is no need to put a loved ones name/info with it.
