counter service meals for adults (can be kids meals that an adult would like).

I'm going on a very limited budget, planning to eat breakfast and one other meal in the Villa, but would enjoy being able to have one meal out.

Please list your favorite CS dishes, and where you found them.

Cosmic Rays- MK- They have a combo meal that is a good bargin.
Pepper Market- CR- Lots of choices and good portion size.
Wolfgang Puck express- DTD- Feels like a TS for CS price.
Ear of Sandwich- DTD- Yummy!
Tangerine Cafe- Epcot- Exotic and lots of food!

I agree with boldlyreal, CosmicRay would be a good choice. We also liked La Cantina De San Angel in Epcot/Mexico.

This is another vote for Cosmic Rays in MK. We highly recommend Sunshine Seasons in Epcot in the Land Pavilion. We always get either a pork chop, chicken or salmon platter. Mashed potato's or rice and carrots come with it, plus your drink and a wonderful dessert. Plenty to eat for a counter service and we think it's very good.

My favorite CS meals:

Flametree BBQ at AK. The 1/2 smoked chicken meal or 1/2 slab of ribs meal is probably enough for 2, unless you're big eaters.

Columbia Harbour House at MK. Chicken breast nuggets and fish combo. Again, quite possible enough for 2.

Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe at MK. LOVE the taco salad there. You just get a big plate-sized shell with meat, and then you load it up yourself with lettuce, tomatoes, salsa, whatever you want from the "fixin's" bar.

Cosmic Rays PP mentioned is also large enough to share - if you are not sharing - know that they have 4 different lines, a sandwich line, a burger line, etc... they also had a "toppings" bar!

Sunshine Seasons at Epcot - awesome food, again, several areas with different food - you have to wander and smell and think which is best!!

(I dont know if I would make a special trip over to Peppers Market, and even tho its a CS you are seated and brought drinks, and tips are expected - its off the beaten path, but it is highly rated, )

DTD - WolfGang Pucks Express - and Earl of Sandwich!!

MK- Cosmic Ray's or Pecos Bills- both for the fixings bar
EP- Tangerine Cafe- no one leaves hungry
DHS- Starring Rolls bakery- big sandwiches!!!
AK- Flame Tree BBQ yummy and there is lots of it

Our favorite is Tangierine Cafe. It offers dishes out of the ordinary and are as good as many TS meals I've had at WDW.

Second, I would recommend Wolfgang Pucks at DTD.

We like Columbia house in the MK they have a lot of fish and chips. Just as good as the Rose and Crown. Also at Jambo house the Mara has some good options. The she crab soup is great. It is not offered every day. I also like the Turkey Sandwhich too.
Lexi:thumbsup2

MK - love the tuna sandwich or chicken BLT salad from CHH

Epcot - love the brat and kraut from Germany, the veggie cuban from Sunshine Seasons or the shrimp lo mein from China

HS - nothing wows me here

AK - have to get the BBQ pork sandwich from Flame Tree

DTD - anything from WPE or a nice meatball sandwich from EoS

At the Poly, chicken lo mein or grown up grilled cheese from Capt Cooks

At the GF, the Italian sandwich on herbed foccaccia

At the POFQ, the taco salad or muffaletta with macaroni salad

Wolfgang Puck Express, Columbia Harbor House and Earl of Sandwich are good options

Thanks gang! That is exactly the information I was seeking!

Yup! That's what I always choose LOVE that salmon!

OH WOW! I didn't know PB had taco salad. I love taco salad!

Ohhhhhh. Tangerine! Love tangerine - but I never thought of Wofgang pucks. What's good there?

Definitely that's on the list - never eaten there and I love me some fish and chips.

Ah yes, the studios. Isn't that always a problem? They have good ice cream at Scoops, but that was about it for me. When DH goes along we always have to eat at Prime time. Somebody mentioned something good at Starring rolls once, but I can't find the thread now, to see what it was.

I love grilled cheese (but don't order it on the Disney Magic. that was the worst 'grilled cheese" I ever had in my life - american on cold toast that had never seen butter. YUCK.)

Thanks again for the great answers!!

MK: We normally enjoy Cosmic Rays for the variety, but we tried Columbia Harbor House for the first time a few weeks ago and we really enjoyed it...so much so we went twice. Both times I had the fried shrimp plate. It was excellent with a very large portion with fries and very fresh coleslaw. DH tried the vegetarian chili and he really liked it as well. CHH is now on our "must do" list for future trips.
AK: We ate at both Pizzafari and Flame Tree. I loved the hot italian sandwich from Pizzafari in June but sadly this trip it wasn't as good.:sad2: It was big (definately big enough to share) but tasted mostly like onions...not much other flavor and they took the apple dumpling dessert off the menu and replaced it with some icky sweet chocolate mousse thingy. Flame Tree was, as always excellent. The rib platter was excellent..even the kids meal (2 chicken legs) was delicious and tender. I also loved the baked beans and coleslaw.
Epcot: Hands down my favorite CS is Tangierine (sp?) in Morrocco. DH and I split the lamb/chicken schwarma platter and it was sooo good. The meats were super tender and flavorful. The hummus, taboulee(sp?) and the grilled onions with the bread...awesome! Was more than enough for the 2 of us to share. We also ate at Sunshine Seasons for lunch and for breakfast. It wasn't as fabulous it was previously. I had the ham/salami sandwich and it was huge...pretty good..not great. DH tried something from the Asian station and AGAIN was dissapointed (i swear this is the 3rd time he has tried it..). The desserts are excellent as was the breakfast platter.
DHS: I got nothin for you.:sad2: DH ate a cheeseburger at Backlot Express and it was terrible. I had a cheeseburger at ABC commisary and it was 'meh'.
Downtown Disney: We didn't have the pleasure of eating at CS there. We ate at TREX for DS6 (it was terrible and brutally expensive by the way). But we are HUGE fans of Wolfgang Puck Express and Earl of Sandwich.
Hope this helps! :)

Hey Linda! Miss seeing you!

Lisa and I were there the week after Thanksgiving and our last CS meal was at the Flame Tree BBQ, and we both had the ribs. Now, we were on the dining plan, so it didn't cost, but actual price would have been about $35 for two of us, including the desserts and drinks. But, the ribs were very good, especially for mass prepared food.:thumbsup2

We used all of our other CS meals at Pop Century for breakfast, so I can't help you much otherwise.

I like the Flame Tree BBQ at DAK. The seating is very quiet and pleasant and the barbeque is solid (though I feel its slipped in recent trips). Pizzafari is not a bad alternative there

At MK, I always liked Cosmic Rays. Sonny Eclipse is a blast. Columbia Harbor House is solid too

Epcot has two of the best IMO in the food court in the Land and the Cantina at Mexico.

Skip CS at the Studios

Another good choice would be the Earl of Sandwich at the marketplace

Enjoy

Hi Linda!

One of my favorite meals in November was at Wolfgang Puck Express. I had the Rosemary Rotisserie Chicken served with their house-made garlic mashed potatoes! It was wonderful!!! I suppose on any given night it may not be as good, but that night the chicken was tender and flavorful and the mashed potatoes were creamy!

I stayed at Kidani Village and had several meals between there and Jambo House. Loved the shrimp platter at Mara. The shrimp are deep-fried and come with fries - but one night I was offered couscous as a side and also I think maybe some type of vegetable.

Not sure how late private dining is offered at the Maji Pool Bar. I ate outside there for lunch because I wanted my lunch in a bento box :) Had the tandoori chicken on naan bread and it came with three wonderful sides. The lunch was 14.99 but it is billed like room service so gets a little pricey with tip and service charge. Also read good things about the grilled lime pork chop and beef short ribs. Next time! I forgot that I could have refilled my mug there, too, which would have saved the beverage cost.

And of course a favorite is always the vegetarian platter at Tangierine Cafe!

WOO! That ALL sounds good. LOVE tandoori chicken!

Good to know they offer 'room service' at the pool at AKL! And what is a bento box?

I might actually enjoy counter service meals more than table service. Maybe.

Animal Kingdom: Flame Tree Barbecue might possibly have the best ribs I've ever eaten.

The Magic Kingdom: Columbia Harbour House and Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe are both favorites. The fish and chicken nuggets combo is a good deal from Columbia Harbour House, but the shrimp is quite good, too. Cosmic Ray's has the rib and chicken combo, which is a good value. Also, it has several places to choose from so it gives variety to anyone else in your group.

Epcot: Voting for Sunshine Seasons because of the variety. Plus, if yo uwant dessert, the bakery has more options. :thumbsup2
