DH and I have collectively lost 70 lbs. since November on Atkins. Can someone recommend good restaurants to go to on this diet? We will be staying at the Beach Club so restaurants in the Epcot/MGM/Boardwalk area would be ideal.

We do also love the California Grille. Is there anything there for low-carbers?

What about Teppanyaki in Epcot Japan? Sometimes sauces can really set you back!

I know we can always fall back on the turkey legs, but that can get boring meal after meal.

Thanks for your help. What a great board!

I would think that almost any of the sit down restaurants would work for the Atkins plan. Le Cellier has steak and some great salads, Tepanyaki....I'm trying to remember if there was a sauce on the meal I had there. I think the entree was just steak, lobster and veggies, no sauce. Now the salad dressing they serve probably has sugar in it but I don't know for sure.

I've never eaten at the California Grille, sad but true. I don't know what they have.

Cobb salad at Brown Derby, yum, yum, yum. They also have a really good steak.

I think you could probably "create" an Atkins friendly meal at any of the WDW restaurants by refusing the potato and requesting no croutons on your salad.

Will you be joining us here on WISH? We could sure use you in our support group.

I agree! You could really eat any any of the restaurants and just skip the bread and potatoes. Except maybe Nine Dragons - I'm not sure if you could find anything there.

If you go to one of the Italian restaurants, just stay away from the pasta. Order a big antipasto salad.

Otherwise, you can get a nice steak at the California Grill, and ask for extra veggies instead of the potato!

The hard part is staying away from the desserts, but most of the sit-down restaurants in WDW offer sugar-free desserts now. They may still have carbs in the form of flour, but it would be better than blowing your diet completely!! :)

You can do it - I have! Have a wonderful time! :bounce:

Thank you. I have had very good luck on Atkins -- 50 pounds in 4 months.... size 16 to size 1, but I have been very strict with myself... not cheating even once! At first I was somewhat peeved at how shallow people are... treating me so much nicer now that I am so thin... but now I am just happy. I don't need to lose any more, I now weigh 110 pounds, I just want to maintain.

I would love to join WISH, what do I do?

WOW! You had great success on Atkins, gives me hope for myself. Once I took the WISH challenge my weight loss seemed to slow down drastically, but I lost 18 pounds in the first three weeks on Atkins.

You don't really have to "do" anything to join WISH. You can add the clipart if you want. There is a post explaining how to do that right HERE

Then all you have to do is visit this board as often as you can, share your weight loss expertise with us and help keep us motivated. It's amazing how much this support group has helped keep me focused on my goals.

I'm really glad you are here with us.

Wow! Congratulations on your weight loss!
I feel that I sound like a broken record but I just want to share my experience with you. The last time I was on Atkins I went from a size 10 - 4. When I started the maint. diet I began cheating with a sweet here and there and before I knew it I was a size 12 (bigger than I ever was). I just went back on Atkins last week and I'm already fitting into my 10's again, Whew!
I'm sure you won't let that happen to you though:D
