We have decided that we are definitely hitting the World again in May. We are going to try some resturants we haven't tried before this time around instead of the same old ones (except Ohana - my mother is coming with us and she LOVES Ohana). :rotfl2:

Will you please rate the ones you have been to and let me know why you liked or didn't like them? The players are myself (36 and relatively adventerous), my mother (also relatively adventerous), DS (will be 9 and picky), DD (will be 3 and adventerous). I would REALLY appreciate any input! :worship:

TIA!!

Le Cellier - Epcot (lunch)
Chefs de France - Epcot (lunch)
Liberty Tree Tavern - MK (lunch or dinner?)
Tony's Town Square - MK (dinner)
Whipering Canyon Cafe - Wilderness Lodge (lunch or dinner?)
Cinderella's Royal Table - MK (dinner)
50's Prime Time Cafe - Hollywood Studios (lunch)
Chef Mickey's - Contemporary (dinner)

Plaza - MK (lunch or dinner?) We really enjoy the food here, the best french fries in all of WDW
1900 Park Fare - Grand Floridian (dinner) While our nieces had a great time with the characters the food was just nasty and we all left hungry...no way would I go back here again
Boatwrights - POR (dinner) - we havebeen here, but not for some time We had dinner here in May and it was fantastic!
Sci-fi - Hollywood Studios (lunch) Great place for burgers and onion rings
Biergarten - Epcot (lunch or dinner?) Lots of fun, would go for lunch since its cheaper and basicaly the same foods
Coral Reef - Epcot (lunch because they have lobster ravioli) Just ok, nothing special
Rose and Crown - Epcot (lunch) Have not tried it yet but I have read many great reviews
Le Cellier - Epcot (lunch) Very good food but can be salty
Chefs de France - Epcot (lunch) Love it! The quiche is delish!
Liberty Tree Tavern - MK (lunch or dinner?) We had a nice lunch here, didnt care for the dinner menu at all but lunch was yummy
Tony's Town Square - MK (dinner) One of our faves...great shrimp scampi!
Whipering Canyon Cafe - Wilderness Lodge (lunch or dinner?) Ick! Our lunch experience was terrible, the lack of fun and games and the horrible food...not fans
Cinderella's Royal Table - MK (dinner) Have not tried yet but the reviews are never good
50's Prime Time Cafe - Hollywood Studios (lunch) Soooo good! Love the food and the fun
Chef Mickey's - Contemporary (dinner) Dinner was just gross but breakfast was excellent

Plaza - MK (lunch or dinner?) Did it for Dinner and loved it. The food was good especially the fries and it was a nice light meal.
Sci-fi - Hollywood Studios (lunch) Always do it for lunch and it's excellent. We love the ribs and milk shakes
Tony's Town Square - MK (dinner) Did it for dinner last trip and though most reviews are bad we liked it. I had the steak and really enjoyed it.
Cinderella's Royal Table - MK (dinner) Did CRT only for breakfast and love it.
Chef Mickey's - Contemporary (dinner) We always do breakfast and dinner. While the food at BK we like better the character interaction is wonderful.

Good Luck and enjoy!!

I can only speak to two:

Le Cellier - Excellent soup, bread, steak, and dessert. Potatoes left a bit to be desired. Probably our favorite Disney meal ever, and our kids loved it too. (Plus, you get to make everyone who couldn't get the ADR jealous ;))

Chef Mickey's - Really enjoyed the character interactions. The buffet is an average Disney buffet (we like Crystal Palace and Cape May better for food), but we're going back next month because we had such a good time last year.

I can offer my ratings on the ones we have tried...

Biergarten - Epcot (lunch or dinner?)- We had dinner at Biergarten and no one in our party like it very much. I have picky 5 year old, who ate nothing.
Coral Reef - Epcot (lunch because they have lobster ravioli) - ate here may times and have never been disappointed. Request a seat by the fish tank. It is neat to see people snorkeling.
Le Cellier - Epcot (lunch) Trying for the first time this fall for dinner :).
Chefs de France - Epcot (lunch) - Our meal was very good.
Tony's Town Square - MK (dinner) - The food was average.
Cinderella's Royal Table - MK (dinner) - we have never had dinner, but lunch is always good.
50's Prime Time Cafe - Hollywood Studios (lunch) - average food, but a fun environment
Chef Mickey's - Contemporary (dinner) - the food is very average but the environment is a lot of fun for the kids

Oooohhh - great input. Thanks everyone. I think I'm going to have to start tally. There are SO many places to choose from that we are having a hard time narrowing it down.

Please feel free to suggest places not on my list if you think they're worth mentioning!! The only caviat is that my DD acts like a 2-3 year old girl so I don't really want to take her any place too nice more than once or twice. Too much stress for everyone, including other patrons! :rotfl:

We (both 40ish) have experienced a few.

Biergarten- I generally like this type of food but was a little disappointed. The atmosphere was fun though and we plan to try lunch again this Sept.

Coral Reef- Ate there finally last trip. We were concerned due to reading poor reviews but we both enjoyed the meal. Our waiter was great. It was our anniversary and we received champaign and dessert. Watching the fish swim by was fun also. Of course that did not stop us from having seafood entrees.

Rose & Crown- The food is not real adventurious but it was good. Service was good. We ate outside for dinner and were able to watch Illuminations.

Le Cellier- We have eaten there a few times. We enjoy it but not as crazy about it as some people. Being from the midwest it is not hard for me to find a good steak and for alot less money. The dining area seems crowded. Service has always been very friendly.

Chef de France- This is kind of a nice option. It provided an opportunity to try a little different food but not overly exotic. Service has been inconsistent.

Whispering Canyon- We have enjoyed our meals there. If you have servers that are really into having fun that adds to the experience but regardless we found the food good. The family platter is good and not a bad value.

50s Prime Time- Lots of good old comfort food. The food was good. Most servers were very attentive and playful. We had a server that was a bit absent minded but friendly and seemed to be trying hard.

I believe that is all of your list we have tried.

Coral Reef - Epcot -Ate here on our 2008 trip and it was good!

Liberty Tree Tavern - MK - ate dinner here in 2007 and 2008 and loved it! Have reservation for this Sept too!

Whipering Canyon Cafe - Wilderness Lodge - Had dinner here in 2007 and it was a lot of fun. Food was just OK.

If you like buffets Boma is generally well regarded. We have enjoyed it and we have taken our nephew, then age 9, and he enjoyed it. Also Crystal Palace has a good character buffet. Your little girl may enjoy the character interaction and if she is a little loud that is all right. It will just blend in with the rest. We also have found the food to be good.

Here is our opinion on some of the ones you listed:

Plaza - MK (lunch or dinner?)The food is good. It is a step up from CS restaurants and not quite as hectic as the average TS restaurant
Boatwrights - POR (dinner) - we havebeen here, but not for some time We were really unimpressed. It's nice if you are staying at POR or POFQ and are looking to stay at the resort for a night
Sci-fi - Hollywood Studios (lunch)Awesome atmosphere but the food isn't anything too special
Biergarten - Epcot (lunch or dinner?)We really enjoyed our meal here. A lot of your experience may depend on if and who you sit with. We sat with a couple in their mid-40's and a family of 4. The family of 4 looked miserable but my girlfriend and I had a great time with the other couple
Coral Reef - Epcot (lunch because they have lobster ravioli) It is far from what it used to be. The food is not that good, the service can be pretty bad and the atmosphere has gone from quiet and relaxing to loud and obnoxious
Le Cellier - Epcot (lunch)It's a step up from chain steakhouses like Outback and as a PP said it can be very salty. One of the more overrated restaurants, IMO.
Chefs de France - Epcot (lunch)Was a nice surprise since it was a bit of a last minute ADR choice on our last trip.
Liberty Tree Tavern - MK (lunch or dinner?)Both meals are good and is the only TS restaurant besides The Plaza I would recommend
Tony's Town Square - MK (dinner)Not very good and would much rather just stick to the Italian restaurants here at home.
Cinderella's Royal Table - MK (dinner)Don't expect anything from the food. If you are eating at CRT you are eating for the experience of eating in Cindy's castle. Food and character interaction have both been better at Akershus, again IMO
50's Prime Time Cafe - Hollywood Studios (lunch)Has been a must do for me ever since I was little. I really like their chicken pot pie and we usually split a shake and s'mores for dessert... yum
Chef Mickey's - Contemporary (dinner)The dinner food is pretty lousy like most other character buffet dinners. The breakfast, however, is a must do for my girlfriend.

You have some really good selections there as well as some that I would personally skip. However, I always suggest that people follow their guts and make up their own opinions. :thumbsup2

Plaza - MK (lunch or dinner?) We like the Plaza. The menu is a nice change from burgers and chicken nuggets.
1900 Park Fare - Grand Floridian (dinner)Haven't done this one in several years, but it was decent when we were there.
Boatwrights - POR (dinner) - we havebeen here, but not for some time Haven't eaten here.
Sci-fi - Hollywood Studios (lunch) Ate here in April and was pleasantly surprised. Going back in Nov. Food was good and theming is great.
Biergarten - Epcot (lunch or dinner?)Haven't eaten here.
Coral Reef - Epcot (lunch because they have lobster ravioli)Haven't eaten here.
Rose and Crown - Epcot (lunch)Haven't eaten here.
Le Cellier - Epcot (lunch)It was ok, but not worth the hype it gets.
Chefs de France - Epcot (lunch)We've eaten here twice and it was excellent both times.
Liberty Tree Tavern - MK (lunch or dinner?)We enjoy LTT and are going back in Nov.
Tony's Town Square - MK (dinner) The worst meal we've ever had in WDW. We won't ever go back.
Whipering Canyon Cafe - Wilderness Lodge (lunch or dinner?)It's ok. The food is decent. My kids love the atmosphere.
Cinderella's Royal Table - MK (dinner) Haven't done dinner here.
50's Prime Time Cafe - Hollywood Studios (lunch) Love the food and the atmosphere. We eat here every trip.
Chef Mickey's - Contemporary (dinner)Food is decent and you get to see Mickey and the gang, so it's a must do for us.

:)

Wow - folks on this board really are amazing. I really appreciate everyone taking the time to give their input. It is so important for me to hear from people who have been there and one that when making these decisions!

I am noticing that not only have the people here shot down Cinderella's Royal Talbe for the food, but people I personally know who have been have said the same. We have been to Askerhaus (sp?) before and thought it was wonderful, but DS HATED the food. When we went it was basically a buffet selection of cold meats and such. Has that changed? Maybe we should stick to 1900 Park Fare for the Cindy experience?

Would love to hear from everyone willing & able to contribute!

Hi. We have only eaten at some so of course, I can only give our opinion on those.

Plaza - MK (lunch or dinner?)
1900 Park Fare - Grand Floridian (dinner) Have not been in years, but did always enjoy it.
Boatwrights - POR (dinner) -
Sci-fi - Hollywood Studios (lunch) Went once- Food and atmosphere were good, service was a little slow. Overall, had a good time.
Biergarten - Epcot (lunch or dinner?)
Coral Reef - Epcot (lunch because they have lobster ravioli) Have never had the lobster ravioli, sorry, but have had good lobster bisque there. Used to really like this restaurant, but are taking a break from it for the last 2 visits, as we have not been too happy with the food or service when we were last there in 2008 and 2009. We do like the atmosphere though.
Rose and Crown - Epcot (lunch) DH and I would like to try this some day.
Le Cellier - Epcot (lunch) we really enjoy LeCellier, have been for lunch once and dinner many times. This is one of our must dos. DH loves the mushroom filet mignon
Chefs de France - Epcot (lunch) Looks great to DH and myself, but have never tried as I do not think DS would like it here.
Liberty Tree Tavern - MK (lunch or dinner?)
Tony's Town Square - MK (dinner)
Whipering Canyon Cafe - Wilderness Lodge (lunch or dinner?)
Cinderella's Royal Table - MK (dinner) Have not been for dinner in many years, but thought it was ok.
50's Prime Time Cafe - Hollywood Studios (lunch) We love the onion rings, fried chicken, and meatloaf here. We have done both lunch and dinner. We also love the interaction with the servers. Fun time!! Must do every trip for us.
Chef Mickey's -

I hope you have a great time-enjoy.

Chef Mickey's dinner: Only do this if you must. The fried chicken was ok, the mashed potatoes were the best thing offered. Everything else was sadly lacking.

1900 Park Fare: Haven't had dinner there in years, but the breakfast was above average for a Disney buffet.

I'd agree that Boma is the best dinner buffet offered. :earsboy:

disgirl - I am a little concerned about DS at Chefs too....I think DD will be fine. Something to think about - I guess worse case he will just be hungry until I can get him his usual mac and cheese somewhere shortly after this meal. :lmao:

Micca - OK - that's it. I must check Boma out as well since you are not the first on this thread to mention it!

Thanks again for the input - great things to think about!

If you can budget it in, I would still go with CRT if you haven't yet. Maybe try for a breakfast ADR to get you into the park before RD. As myself and some others have said, the food is nothing great. But since you have not eaten there before, you should still do it for the experience of eating in Cindy's castle.

As for Akershus, for lunch and dinner the buffet of meats, cheeses, salads, etc. is the appitizer, then everyone chooses an entree, then dessert is brought to you family style.

Now that you mention it, I think I do remember there being an entree at Akershus when we went. It's been so long...

Good advice - I'm not one who expects ever meal at WDW to be gourmet so I'm rarely completely disappointed in the food. I just don't want inedible. :rolleyes1 I really do think my DD would love the experience in the castle so maybe I won't scratch this one off the list just yet.

Unfortunately...food is my favorite part of a vacation so I love planning this part.

Our experience says that maybe yu should think twice about the Biergarten with a picky 9 yo. Last time we were there, we had a solo man sitting at our table. Turned out he was only solo for the meal-his daughters wouldn't eat there, so he and his wife ate apart, since he loved German food. Near the end of the meal, 2 young girls came in holding their noses and whispering "Daddy, it stinks in here! We'll be waiting outside." The smell of saurkraut, mild to us, bothered the little girls. But we've always seen lots of kids enjoying Biergarten, and as a buffet, they can get (or not) whatever they want.
