Please raise hand if on-site only......

hey at today prices - I can't afford DVC.

that is one thing that is worrying me - the salary of DVC member is going up - there are now members who own DVC and don't think a thing of paying $3,000 or more for EXTRAS....

boy I can't do that - at my salary I could NEVER do that.

I brought in 93 when it was $52 a point and that included WDW tickets...It was a wonderful deal then.

lately I have been renting my points - and as I say - using the money for paying bills and staying offsite.

my next trip is an exchange which is why I am staying at SSR.

however I won't sell my points - I can rent them pretty easily for more than the maintence fees - so I will kept them until I can't do that. they have been a wonderful step for me - but believe me at $98 a point I can definitely understanding not buying.

I don't stay in 2-bedroom - when I need a 2-bedroom - I generally go for the 2 studio. same amount of people - less points.

I also love Pop - so I don't know - now the timeshares over there I would jump on - but just a hotel room...I don't know - besides the last time I looked Pop was cheaper anyway than MOWC.

Pop is a fun place - don't mark it off your list.

there is another board that I post on - and when I say going to WDW is better than being at home even when you can't stay at WDW - some people get very upset with me...but lots of folks can't pay WDW prices.

oh about pop - there is a rumor that the other part of Pop will be for families of 5 or 6 - something like the kids suites at HI. WDW needs something in the value price range for this group of people. So it might not be too long.

but even then - WDW prices are high!!!

The only way I can see the transportation being better on-site is if you ride the monorail
The other advantage to onsite transportation is if your party wants to split up. If a couple of people want to stay at the hotel and swim while others go to a park and then all meet up for dinner, or something like that, onsite transportation is the only way to manage that.

As much as I love offsite, I can foresee us staying onsite in a few years when DD is a teen and wants to bring a friend along and be able to come and go independent of mom and dad. Can't do that if we are offsite driving back and forth.

Oh, Yes, DisneySteve, I forgot about that. That would be convenient. Ofcourse, in my family, it would be the kids probably that say, "go ahead to the parks, mom and dad, we'll stay here and swim." :teeth: DH and I are such WDW NUTS!! :)

Now, THAT is a great idea. Long overdue. I hope they do it. It would probably be too expensive for us (I know what the Nick hotel goes for....... :faint: ) but maybe we could split a stay. But this would be great for a lot of families that really want to stay on-site but just can't financially.

Steve that only works if your child still loves WDW.

My nephew only wants US/IOA - his father wants WDW.... So on this trip they are staying offsite - and each will go where they want. plus they get to kept the dog with them and that makes my DSIL not to mention my DNi happy.

My spouse and kids would be at each others throats in a regular hotel room for 1 week. If we are travelling and have a quick overnight that is fine. We still argue over tv and spouse and I like adult time (or at least I hope for some on vacation).

The bargains off site in non peak hours are ridiculous.

However if I was not a tightwad or did not appreciate good food and lived with counter service and went WDW from sunrise to bed time, I guess on-site is the way to go.....

Not us though.....

We have split our stays both on site and off site. Usually 7 days at WDW and 5 to 6 days off site. When we travel with our neices and nephews we do stay on site the whole trip so we can split up and meet back at the hotel. Yes,we do rent two rooms because we like our privacy. When traveling with our grandneice (4) we stay on the monorail for convenience. She loves MK and MGM but mostly MK. :flower:
