What would I do without this board? Thank you all!

What gift cards should/can I buy here before our fall Disney trip? I’m thinking Disney & Starbucks, for snacks etc

Last trip was 12 years ago & I feel so out of the loop. Thanks!

Others may chime in with definitive but, I'm not sure a Starbuck's GC can be used in the parks, especially one in Canadian $. You can use a Disney GC purchased in Canada though. I would anticipate you could use that at the Disney Starbucks locations.

I used my Starbucks App at the Disney Springs location, and I think at MK as well? As noted, cannot use your stars.

We are going in December, so I am currently acquiring Disney GC over time. I like the Landry's suggestion, Yak & Yeti is a favourite spot.

has anyone used app offers?

If you fly Air Canada and aren't boycotting Loblaws, they have a promotion on til tmrw of spend $225 to get $250 worth.

People say you can do it multiple times.

Just be wary that you can only pay with 2 methods of payment when buying your flight.

We did a trip back April/ May of this year. We had a bunch of Disney Gift cards, that kids got for X Mas etc, and points that we had collected from using Presidents Choice Credit Card. It was a great way to pre spend. But explaining to a 10, 8 year old on how crappy the exchange rate is when they thought they had a $100 CDN gift card to use converted to USD, and how much they could actually get was a challenge. Also the Canadian Starbucks app worked there as well, no issues. Just no redeeming stars.

thank you, that’s what I was wondering… will have granddaughters ages 1, 8 & 11 that we’re meeting there & they don’t live in Canada so that’s a lot of math to explain CAD & exchange rate as well

Am I safe to say it’s about a $70 card if it’s a hundred CAD? Did you pre load Disney gcs to your trip? It’s been way too long since I did this.

Starbucks sounds easier tbh :cutie: thx again

Most were bought at Shoppers Drug Mart/ Zehrs buying either $50 cards or $100. Everything works great. We kept everything individual, we did use the Gift Cards to pay for meals at Disney Springs ( Summer House) and a few quick serves between the parks and at Carribbean Beack Resort.

I recall the $50 cards with the exchange rate at the time was $36 and change, your $70 estimate for the $100 card would be a pretty close call. All depends on how strong our dollar gets,

We do the cards all the time..and its great for our girls,,math on vaca love it and they dont mind...so they look at everything and add at least 30% on...and they know when their cards are done...thats it they are done.
For the SB..if you preload here with GC you get your stars...so if you collect those just cant redeem.

Anyone know how to switch the McDonald’s Canada app to the US version. Supposedly this is something we can do and are able to use our points in the states and get the reward offers there, but I can’t figure out how to switch them. I tried emailing my question and the response I got was how to add missing points, which was not the question I asked.

If you’re not boycotting shoppers keep an eye out every once in a while they have a buy some sort of gift card and get 10,000 optimum points. There’s been McDonald’s and Boston pizza that I can recall.

I hope someone has your answer- would love more app ideas like this

I try to keep what’s on my phone to a minimum i.e. only add Starbucks app when in use when home etc but am willing to load up for vacation

If you get groceries delivered, you can also get Instacart $100 for $90 (or $80 sometimes on sale) on Costco.com.

Last December, they also had $500 Disney gift card for $450. We bought a bunch of these and used them pretty much everywhere on property. They are not currently selling these, but hopefully they will come back again at some point.

Sometimes, website like giftscards.com will sometimes have a 10% discount on prepaid Visa/Mastercard. After the activation fee, you usually still have the card at a slight 4-5% discount. I will buy Disney gift cards off shopdisney.com with these and then use them on our trip.

These are charged in USD so hopefully you have a credit card without exchange fees. I also have a US bank account and exchange money whenever the exchange rate is more favorable. Or, I highly recommend looking into Knightsbridge.com. They will do foreign currency exchanges at a rate that's always better than the bank. You create an account and provide your banking information and they will do the exchange and transfer. It sometimes takes a few days to complete but the additional savings is worth it if you have the time.

yes the Disney GC deal on Costco was great. Last Dec they had $500 usd gift cards for $450 usd on Costco.com that I hope they bring back. Was a decent deal when using a no forex credit card. If you have preexisting physical Disney GC purchased in the US you can transfer the US$ gift card amounts to it. But it doesn’t work for Disney cards purchased in Canada
