Looks legit to me.

We're on-site for a week starting next Friday. Exicted!

Thanks for posting this! Looks like the "letter" they will be giving to onsite guests book prior and HP package holders.
Can't wait to hear what the preview exactly entails! Hopefully FJ!
Have fun everyone, can't wait to arrive on June 5th for 5 nights! :yay:

Wonder if we can take pictures or video inside the WWoHP?

Our Condo is booked from June 13 - 20th which I booked in February when I purchased our tickets, meal deals and sipper cups. We have 4 days worth of tickets and I FREAKED out when someone mentioned to me, in passing last month, that the Grand Opening date was June 18th! This was a Surprise birthday present for my three children. I had already told them we were skipping cake, presents, family, friends the whole deal and they were Thrilled since it was WWOHP. I didn't get an email or Anything! I signed up for all the updates and gave my email address when purchasing the tickets.

Now I am paying for Two places to stay when we can only stay at one. The whole reason we were going was to celebrate my childrens birthday in WWOHP.

We have hotel reservations because they Told me we would get in to the WWOHP one hour earlier than General Public for each day of our stay. I hope they honor this or I will Never go back. This is our first experience with OU and I kind of hoped the WWOHP would be to my children what Disney was to me. A MUST for family vacation. If we don't get in during our vacation and I have paid out the wazzooo my children will only look at OU as a disapointment and WWOHP as a great disapointment and never want to go back again. Seriously....

My Mom told the kids about how I had this huge facination with Cinderella's castel the first time I went to Disney. As a grown up I thought the story was funny but I remembered it vividly. I practically dragged my parents and definetly Nagged the heck out of them about getting to the castel ASAP. I was so disapointed to find it was just a "hallway". I pressed my tiny little face on the painted doors in the "hallway" and thought if I just believed enough the doors would open and magic would happen. My mother eventually pryed me off the wall and I cried on and off the rest of the day. My poor Poor mother!

I mentioned that now the Castel was different. There were shops and a restaurant! Anyway, we get to the Castel with my children and we peek into the BBBoutique and oooh and awww from around the corner. I had no idea we should have booked the restaurant a year or 2 in advance but asked to just take a peek.

At the stroller check in area, They very politely but Firmly said NO, only those with reservations. My children Never want to go back to Disney as long as they live. My littlest one said "Disney doesn't want to give you magic Mom. They just want to see you press on the walls and cry." That crushed me a hundred times more than when I was a little girl with her face pressed on those walls. That time it wasn't the disapointment of not "seeing the magic". She said a few other things but I cannot recall them. I am sure they are in our trip report that I don't think I posted. I was Heart Broken, absolutely Crushed by the sight of my young daughter actaully believing that magic wasn't possible in the one place Magic should seem real for children.

We had fun but after that I could have taken them any where to have the same amount of fun. It was a very disapointing trip. The whole idea of magic went right out the window.

Hey, I went back after years and years! I had no idea the old story would be so crushing.

about the castle...ive eaten there before, and let me tell you, it is SO SMALL! there is only enough room for walking to your tables and leaving the place. they dont even allow strollers of any kind in (my daughter even had the "use stroller as wheelchair" pass and they said they cant allow it as it is a safety hazard). So taking guests without reservations into the small hall and up and down the elevator would be a terrible idea, not to mention they probably get that request more than you would think in a day. as someone that used to work in the magic kingdom, i know about creating magic, and trust me, if it was possible it would be done. but there are times where its better for your own safety.

im hoping you booked a universal resort before the announcement! even though it is sounding like they may let in all resort guests, but in writing it says no. good luck to you anyways.

lastly, i saw here someone was talking about FJ being down...it would be fixed by now. rides going down arent really a longterm thing just a couple of hours.

"you get what you get and don't throw a fit"

:thumbsup2

In our family, whenever the kids start up with the drama, we say, "Suck it up, Buttercup!" Same idea, different words.

We're entitled to our feelings, but we're not allowed to ruin anyone else's day.

Okay, Really? You will be there during the opening, of course it is opening week so it will be crazy. Check your spam folder, if you don't have Universal set up everything goes into Spam for your email. This happened to me and I know get lots of emails from Universal..movies...openings...stupid stuff

Can you post the Universal e-mail address so I could add it. I signed up but have not been getting any e-mails from them.

Thanks:flower3:

Thanks for the heads up on the very specific entry times...dang, the best part of a Universal trip is the getting to sleep in part!:cloud9: At least the letter says for each day of your stay, which we have 7 days so *hopefully* FJ will be running for one of them. I sure hope they let us at least see the que even if the ride is *101* ( just messin...NOT a Universal term, I know)..he he heee,,,learning a lot on these boards!

Hey all! Here's our day 1 trip report, LIVE from Universal Orlando. Please forgive any spelling or typos as I'm writing this in my iPhone.

We arrived at MCO at around 11:30. While taxiing to the gate I checked The HP thread here on Disboards and read up on the live trip reports of WWOHP being restricted from 8-10 only. After reading that we slightly altered our plans for the day. Since we knew we wouldnt get into WWOHP today we decided to go to Studios first today. We did everything we wanted there in a couple hours (Simpsons, MIB, Jaws, The Mummy (twice), and finally Rip Ride Rocket which was a 35 minute wait). We then headed over to IOA at around 3 and took our time stolling over for Hulk and then back the oppopsite direction through Seusseville with a stop on Cat in the Hat and finally made our way through the Lost Continent to the gates of WWOHP which were guarded by 6 Universal employees who confirmed our access was only 8-10 and only if we were given the notice at hotel checkin (we received the same notice as posted earlier here in the thread). We ventured over to Dueling Dragons (the queue weaves through Hogsmeade, past Dervish and Bangs and whatnot, though there are black walls blocking off the view all along the path save for the rooftops for the most part). So we used Express and got atraighft to the front, saving about 20 minutes inline, got in the train and waited. Then the made us get off, explaining lightning was within 10 miles and they couldn't run. So we started chatting with the Team Members while waiting and got some interesting comments.

1. They hate their WWOHP uniforms because they are thick, heavy and made of wool. They said they roast in them. I can't imagine that will last long!

2. Forbidden Journey is awesome, however, definitely having issues. As others have reported, the Team Members we spoke with said the problem is that if anything causes a stoppage it takes near to an hour to evacuate the ride (1 team member got halfway through FJ at a preview last night before it shutdown and they waited 45 minutes to be taken off. Apparently it broke down today as well for the package guests and had to be evacuated. Several team members said the biggest issue is getting FJ restarted properly. It takes quite a while to get everything in synch after a stoppage.

3. The Team Members rabed abou the authenticity of Hogsmead and the Hogwarts Castle. The one that ride half of FJ loved it but was of course bummed not to see it all.

Moving on, after about a 30 minute wait for the weather to clear, they cleared the trains and allowed us to board The Fire dragon again, only to again have us get off until maintenence could restart the trains. They ran 2 trains, thenfinally the 3rd time was a charm and we got to go for real. The DD queue was near empty save a small group of us on both trains, so we got to go straight to Ice after disembarking Fire and even got 2 seats in the front row (which was awesome)!

After finally riding both coasters we headed over to the Jurassic Park River Rude and got soaked (buy it felt great since it was so hot and humid). We then did Hulk one more time before leaving at around 6:30 and grabbing some dinner at City Walk. All told we did a lot in about 6 hours!

Anyhow tomorrow we ARE going to WWOHP. We'll be at the gates to IOA by 7:45 and will report on HP tomorrow.

BTW, they are requiring photo ID to gain entrance to WWOHP. Kinda surprised about that!

Anyhow, I'll report back tomorrow night!

Mike

Thanks Mike, I'm really looking forward to a report tomorrow. Have fun and don't hesitate to give us all and every little bit of info and detail you can think of!

Hi Preds!
Glad you had an enjoyable day 1..how cool is all this technology that is allowing us all instant info?:thumbsup2 Wool uniforms?!?:eek:Photo ID...hmmm, will have to make sure DS has his school ID, he does not have his license yet, 2 more months:rolleyes1 If you were there late enough, could you see the castle lit up for evening?
Hope your family gets a good nights sleep and all is in excellent working order tomorrow morning, and thank you for posting during your trip!

Sigh. FJ went down in 30 minutes. Done for the day. We made it to the Defense Against the Darks Arts Classroom before they shut everything down. Pretty sad. The queue is great, but the ride appearently has some serious issues.

Oh no! I know they were saying that they were having trouble getting the ride reset. Hopefully they figure that out quickly. I guess this is the reason for all the delays in getting the area open.

We were almost to the loading dock too. All we had left was the Gryffindor Common Room and the Sorting Hat.

I spoke with more Team Members when we re-walked the queue later on. All told me they are having major problems getting it restarted after any kind of stoppage, and their evacuation procedure is quite time consuming.

They also told me they've yet to keep it running for 2 hours straight! Very alarmng with the Grand Opening less than 3 weeks away!

I guess we'll try again tomorrow!

Awwww, sorry Preds...very disapointing :sad1: Hopefully tomorrow works out for you guys. Yes, that does sound concerning abut not being able to keep it running for more than 2 hours. I hope they choose to keep the land open longer than teh 8-10 window, especially if the ride is down, any talk or ability to see it at night?

They extended things an hour and kept the rides open until 11 today. Well The coasters at least. One nice thing is that we got to ride both Dragon Challenge coasters in the front row today with ZERO wait. Those coasters are amazing in row 1.

Also, Hogs Head beer was surprisingly good and we all preferredd the regular Butterbeer (very tasty) over the frozen.

My kids LOVE DC....night riding is their favorite...front row rocks! and with zero wait, wow, not sure THAT will ever happen again, especially on a Holiday weekend!

I was concerned from reading some other posts I might have a problem as although I booked before the announcement I don't have a package. I emailed CS about 8 hours ago, and just received a phone call (I'm in the UK by the way) assuring me that we'd have no problem, just show up at the entrance at 8 with our room key.

Hello all from the RPR....we made it all the way to the Sorting Hat this morning before FJ went down. My son went in ahead of us and got to ride, the stinker. Hogshead brew is tasty, Butterbeer is yummy and unlike the previous poster I like the frozen one better. Stay away from the Chocolate Frogs, they taste like cheap Halloween chocolate but the cards are neat. We feel so lucky to be among the first ones to experience this wonderful area and we did get in on a room only reservation.

Thanks for the update, Tink1957 - that is very encouraging! (well, not the FJ breaking down part) I have a room-only ressie on June 5 and 6 and have heard soooooo many conflicting things. One guest-services rep told me that all hotel guests would have access to WWOHP, but if you had a room-only, booked after March 25, then you'd only get the 1-hr early admission, then have to leave? I guess they'd do spot-checks or pop-quizzes on when you booked -- wrong answer and you're out of WWOHP! :rotfl: Anyway, glad to hear you're having fun.
