OK...I am going to spring on my hubby tonight about taking an impromtu trip during April Vacation. I made ressies from April 27-May 1 at POR. There are 5 of us and it came to $608 for the room. Since we have a 10 day trip planned for July, I will get annual passes. (that should save some money). My question is tho, do you think I can find a better rate to entice him? Right now it equals out to a five night vacation for $700. I think that's pretty good. Do you think I would do any better on the room using an AP rate instead of todays new code?
I really think if I could cut this down to say a $500 difference, he may be more accepting? Am I being unrealistic? I probably could save a bundle staying  "gulp"........offsite:eek:
Help help help please....I really want to go. Plus our high School band will be marching down Main Street USA then:bounce:
Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!

Well, You'll be staying 4 nights. So, the cheapest it can get would be $79 per night + the $15 per night extra charge for your 3rd child. that would be $420 for the 4 nights. Now, I don't think the AP rates will be that low, probably $89 per night + the $15. Still better than what you have. Now, those rates are for a standard view, a water view room would be more. I'd keep the ressie and tell DH, you'll try to get an AP rate once they are released!!

It's actually 5 nights, I meant staying on The first, checking out on the 2nd...sorry. How would I get a $79. rate? I'm paying more now ....

IT seems to me that right now, you are paying $94 per night + the additional fee for a fifth person of $15 per night, which is the current code rate. If you could get an AP rate of $79, you'd still have to pay the $15 additional fee per night. The cheapest your stay will be then is $524, but I think the AP rate is going to be $89 per night, meaning your total would then be $580, not much of a savings.

Well, if you were married to my husband, he wouldn't hear you when you told him that you made the reservations and three days before the trip he would say, "We're going where!". I take it you have a child marching in the marching band, so I would appeal to him that you may never get another chance to see such a wonderful event. Try to get a cheaper rate when the AP discounts come out (none yet as of today) but find some way that you can save a few hundred dollars to offset the trip over the course of the next few months. When it comes to going to WDW, where there is a will, there is a way. We had the honor once of being grand marshalls for the parade and the excitement of the kids in the marching band and their parents on the sidelines was contagious.
