This is our first trip ever to WDW In January so other than looking at the menus, I know nothing of these TS. It will be me, dh, dd6 and ds8.

I am looking for nice sit down experience with good food and atmosphere.

We are not on the DP and dh is kind of picky but these menus looked ok? :)

Which one would you choose for dinner? These all have openings for our date.
Boma
Captains Grille
Cape May
Kona
Sanaa

I forgot to add, we will be doing this restaurant during our epcot day then headed back to epcot after dinner so easily accessible to and from epcot would be helpful

Since you are going to be at Epcot and want to return either Cape May or Captain's Grill are both located close. Go out the back entrance of Epcot it's just a short 5 minute walk to Cape May a couple minutes further to Captain's Grill. I guess it depends if you want a true sit down or a buffet. Cape May is a buffet.

Only captains grill and cape may are walking distance. Unless you didn't mind taking the monorail, then I would do Kona cafe. I really like that restaurant. I haven't been to the other 2 and only cape may for breakfast and it was just so so. We tried captains grill from lunch this past trip (November) and I hated it, my DH (what he got) was good, so I think its hit or miss there, but I will never return & this was only 1 of the 16 TS we went to this past trip that I will say that & then there's really only 1 other TS that I've tried and now we've been to most that I will say I will never return to.
There's nothing in Epcot available? I would highly recommend flying fish but its not on your list.

I would highly suggest taking the monorail to Kona; this is one of my fav. and you really wont find many bad reviews.

agree with monorail to Kona (well, actually you'll have to take monorail to Transportation & Ticket Center, then switch to resort monorail there. Or walk from the Transportation & Ticket Center...about 10 minutes...to the Polynesian. Or take the Polynesian resort bus from Epcot which might be the fastest way to do it with no switching. Any version, count on 45-60 minutes of travel time.)

Second choice, for a quiet meal, would be Captain's Grille, and easy walk through the International Gateway...at most a 10 minute walk from England in Epcot World Showcase.

Cape May is good, but not relaxing/quiet/peaceful at all (noisy & busy...it's a buffet) About 8 minutes walk from England area of Epcot.

Sanaa is good, relaxing & peaceful place but you'd have to take the AKL bus...and make sure you get of at the right stop at AKL (not the main lodge stop!...or you have a long walk to the Sanaa restaurant.) Allow 60 minutes of travel time (including walking to bus stop at Epcot, waiting, travel time, etc.)

Boma is very busy & very noisy. Same Travel issues as Sanaa, except you get off at the main lodge at AKL

I think Cape May is a great choice. I love Kona also, but have only been there for breakfast so I can't say anything about dinner there...

If what you most want is close proximity to Epcot, then I'd go with Cape May or Captain's Grill. However, I'd personally choose the Kona option - we love the Poly, and it's not that bad to do the monorail over there. Plus, we enjoy the food at Kona. Have fun!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! :thumbsup2

I booked an ADR for Kona! Their menu looks yummy!

Thanks also for the detailed descriptions on transportation! You have no idea how helpful that was to this newbie :)

Catne has given you good travel advice. Remember the 45 - 60 minute travel times she mentions are EACH way. You add the amount of time you wait to be seated, and then the meal itself, and that is a long time, IMHO.
Personally on my Epcot day I would stay in that vicinity. My first choice from your suggestions would be the Captain's Grill at the Yacht Club. This is a nice 10 - 15 minute walk from the International Gateway near England. The YC is beautiful and many folks feel the Captain's Grill is a "hidden gem". The Cape May buffet is also good, but not as relaxing.
You said that your DH is a picky eater, I would avoid Saana and Boma if this is the case.
We love Kona Cafe, as others have said, but I would not travel that distance only to return to Epcot. Way more time/travel than you expect.
Did you look at any of the wonderful restaurants in World Showcase in Epcot? There are many places to choose from and something for everyone. We stay at the BCV and we probably eat in WS 4 nights out of our 7 night trip. We love it here.
Good Luck

BOMA would be my first choice, but would take alot of travel time, so that being said, I would go with capemay, it is a great buffet with something for everyone !
