Years ago I worked in a pediatric nursing home. There was a young man there... only 11 years old... who was the victim of a terrible accident. When he was 9 he filled a balloon up with water, put it in his mouth and bit down. The balloon exploded and shot a piece of rubber down his throat. I don't remember how long he was without oxygen but it was too long. What we had in the nursing home was only a shell of the boy he must have been. I swore I would tell this story to anyone who would listen for the rest of my days if it would prevent another accident of this type.
I'm not talking about mylar balloons but the standard - you can get them anywhere- balloons.
Please, please, please, no balloons. I wish these were outlawed.
