Please Mickey Make Our Year Better!-May 26 PreTrip w/pictures

Wow, where do I start! I am looooving your TR. Not only are you funny and a great photographer, I feel so much in common, such as UG, animal lover, etc., but wait, I'm neither funny nor a great photographer. But I am a good planner . . . I LOVED the people watching post. I copied and pasted it to save to show my DH, who is a famous people watcher. I have learned to relax a little more, though.

Okay, day to day breakdown.
DS doesn't care about planning only riding. Honestly I'm not much for pre-planning either, but DW is a wiz at it. Of course, we always have an argument about it mid way through vacation. DW becomes the schedule Nazi and I just want to rest for a minute. You have to put in time to people watch!

People Watching Fun top ten!
1) The "You Really Shouldn't Wear That" game
2) The "Those Shoes Must Be Killing You" game
3) The "Your Going To Have Fun If I Have To Beat You" parents
4) Guys - Stop Looking at Just the Hot Women and notice that there are other people around who are pretty funny!
5) The "This Is Our First Time So I'm Video Taping Everything" family (believe me, your going to have about 12 hours of vacation you either never watch again or fast forward all the way through every time you watch it).
6) The "Your Sitting Here Doing Nothing Will You Take Our Picture" families
7) The "Where the Heck Are We?" families (hub design, folks, hub design).
8) The "We Are On a Group Trip, Not With Our Families, Misbehaving Teenager" spotting game.
9) The "How Did He/She End Up With Her/Him" game
10) The "What Is The Age Break Between Wearing Bermuda Shorts and Black Socks"game (honestly, how old are you when your mind begins to tell you that that is a good idea?).

See you then!

So sorry for your terrible year, and I just know the trip will be the beginning of a wonderful NEW year.

I can give you a very current update on ME, because we are just a week back. We arrived in Orlando on Southwest about 11:30. Our bags arrived in the room mid-afternoon. My DD got in the same time on Air Tran, and their bags didn't get to the room until after 5:00. (I don't know exactly what time because my DH left to come meet us then.) The ME lines in the airport were kind of long but we arrived at close to peak time, I imagine. Coming back we were schlepping our own bags to SW, but they had a computer problem at Pop and my DD waited in line almost 3 hours to check her bags in, from 10:30 until 1:15. :scared1: That was the absolute pits, but it wasn't Disney's fault. I didn't realize that the airport supplies the check-in people, and Disney just provides the space. The Pop CM said that they had never had a situation like that before, so hopefully they won't again. ME isn't perfect, but it isn't bad either, especially for a free service.

The shirt turned out great. I haven't had time to do ours yet and have a feeling that it isn't going to happen :( Oh well - next time! Unless you want to whip 5 of 'em up for me this weekend? LOL Oh and how convenient that your DS fits so nicely in your luggage!

Thanks for all of the great comments on the shirt! DW said I made the picture look much better than the actual shirt. The shirts look good, she is just a perfectionist! I'll wear mine proudly, honey (when I mow the lawn;)) .

Seriously though, I really appreciate the comments and letting us know about your experiences with ME. I'm sorry I haven't been able to respond to each person, but with this being graduation week and the last week of school our life has shifted into overdrive!

DW bought me a gift the other day and I thought I would share it with you.

It is a notebook. I thought it was really cool!

I bought myself a Mickey watch that I can wear in the pool! Everyone has to have a good Disney watch!

My Pal Mickey. Can't hear a word he says while we are at the park, but he's like American Express......Don't go to Walt Disney World without him!

Quick Top Five Things Heard in the Fastpass line while passing people in the Stand-By line.
1) "Jerk"
2) "How come they are letting them through faster than us?"
3) "Jerk"
4) "Come On, let's climb the rail and get in the faster line" (sorry, folks, they are going to stop you before you get to the ride!)
5) "Where do you get those tickets?" (oh, come on people!)

ONLY 8 DAYS UNTIL WE LEAVE!

later

OMGosh I LOVE that notebook!!! The wheels are turning in my head about making that into a scrapbook. elemusing, can you share where you found that treasure? Thanks!! And I love the fastpass list :)

The shirt came out great and I love the notebook!!! That is too funny that your DS fits in the luggage...how about the weight limit?

YOU LEAVE AT THE END OF THE WEEK!!!!! I bet you are getting so exctied. Can't wait to read about the last minute updates and then the TR!!!

BTW love the FP line top 5

DGS got so spoiled by our planning and short waits that if we had to wait over 15 minutes for anything he would fuss and ask why we didn't fast pass it!! Good thing he wasn't around BEFORE FP. :rotfl2:

8 Days??? 8 Days???

We are less than 3 weeks!!!

Love the notebook...I want one!

I am loving your PreTrip. You are a very funny guy.:lmao: I can't wait to read more and awaiting your trip report. I also bought me the red Disney Crocs. :) I am breaking them in now. I am sorry about your losses this year. But Mickey will make it all better. He always does.:wizard: Keep posting!!

I ordered the notebook (It is really like a trapper keeper with two rings inside) from www.disneymovieclub.com. I am a member of the club and this was offered on their website this month.

If you are not a member and would like to sign up, please let me know cause if you sign up under my name I can get a free movie! ;-)

Over the weekend I met with the girls who are growing their hair out for Locks of Love. We went out to eat together and they then proceeded to shave my head! I kept the goatee intact. I will grow that until EVERYONE cuts their hair. But now that some of them are cutting their hair I thought it would be a good time to get rid of mine. So here I am - Completely back to normal! Wheeeeewwww!

I will update more tomorrow!

Just in time for Disney! That will make for a cooler head! :) And you'll be easier to spot ;)

Yeah, I'll be the guy with the sunburned head! The good part about hair like this is - I don't have to worry about hat hair!

Thanks for coming along! My DW says I'm a funny guy - funny LOOKING!
Can't wait to share the actual trip, but I'll be sad as well because it will be ALL OVER when I tell you all about it!

DGS got so spoiled by our planning and short waits that if we had to wait over 15 minutes for anything he would fuss and ask why we didn't fast pass it!! Good thing he wasn't around BEFORE FP. :rotfl2:

Ah, the days before Fast Pass.....when you actually had to run to each ride to see what the line looked like....or basically like your average trip to Six Flags!

Thanks!

If I don't make it back to post again before I leave on my own fabulous WDW trip I just wanted to wish you a happy and magical vacation. Be sure to stop and say hello if you happen to see us wandering around. :goodvibes

I'll be looking for you! I CAN'T WAIT TO GET THERE!!! Not that I'm excited or anything!

Wow you got all ur stuff, lucky you. Do they give you 2 luggage tags for each person traveling? Cause I was wondering how ME knows how to get all your bags.

Yes, two luggage tags per person. They are marked with your hotel name on them and big Mickey heads! I'm still a little anxious about using them. Most of the time we get a driver to take us to WDW from the airport! I hope it goes well! Thanks.

:rotfl2: Love the pic of your son stuffed into the suitcase. I hope DH doesn't ever see that, he would really do it! ;)

I'm telling you! It would be cheaper to pay for the extra luggage than pay for an extra seat! Now if I can find a suitcase for DW............

I was reading right along, sympathizing with your losses, and then I saw you're from so close by! My husband and I live just west of Paducah, KY, in the Heath community. I actually graduated from Murray State University in 2001.

We're driving down to Disney on May 29, and start our touring at EPCOT May 30, then Universal May 31 and Magic Kingdom June 1. Finishing up on June 2 with a trip to Kennedy Space Center before heading home. Like you, ours is a trip born out of a desperate need to "escape." My grandmother, whom we helped care for, died Aug. 4. My uncle, who was very much a father figure to me, died unexpectedly April 1 at the age of 63. Another rather strange coincidence ... We inherited a dog from my grandmother. His name? Buddy! He's a cocker spaniel mix. We're not sure how old he is, but the vet records go back to 1992. A neighbor found him abandoned, full-grown, in a wildlife management area, so who knows how old he really is. We've been a little worried about what to do with him while we're taking our trip, but just lately my aunt and a friend have volunteered to take turns coming over daily to feed him and give him his medicine -- one pill for arthritis and two for heart failure.

We'll be eagerly waiting for more updates to your report.

Graduated from Murray State, huh? Sorry about that! (Just kidding!) DW graduated in 94 and she seems to have turned out all right (mostly).

Don't you just hate that drive from here to Orlando? There is like a cow and two barns between here and there (not counting Atlanta). It is the most boring drive ever!

You will love the Space Center though. DS is dying to go to "Space Camp".

Good luck with your puppy! We've got a "dog-sitter" coming over three times daily to check on the pups! I hope it all goes well.

Thanks!

You look so familiar to me for some reason. We live in Northern Kentucky, used to live in Louisville. I read your wife's comment about you bieng a youth pastor, I think that's the connection I'm recognizing. Have you all been to Aldersgate? Maybe at a conference somewhere, I don't know, but it's going to drive me nuts until I figure it out.

Gotta run, but I'm really enjoying your TR so far!! Can't wait to read more!

I've tried to have them remove my picture from the post office, but no luck yet. I have been to Aldersgate but I can't remember why. I used to travel with Acappella, AVB, and The Vocal Union - it may be from that. I really can't remember why I was at Aldersgate. I'll have to ask DW. She keeps track of that stuff for me!

Thanks!

TWO MORE DAYS!!!

TWO MORE DAYS!!!!

Getting really excited now!

Top Ten People You Hate To Run Into at WDW!
1) The "Get Outta My Way, We Got Rides To Ride" people (these are the ones that will run you over even if you are holding a new born)
2) The "Wow, we are really here" people (these are the ones that can even manage to hold up the stand by line because they must look at EVERYTHING in detail. these are the people that can take up an entire walkway on Main Street!)
3) The "My Family Made Me Come Fathers" (you can tell them because they are scowling at everyone and don't seem like generally happy people!)
4) The "My Husband is Acting Like A Child and I Have Four Other Kids With Me I Think I'm Going To Lose It Mothers" (these are the women with the perpetual stunned look on their face, but they have the uncanny ability to snag a two year old from running off without ever turning around to actually look at the child.)
5) The "I Don't Know You But I'm Going To Talk To You About How Much My Life Sucks and How Your Life's Problems Are A Walk On The Beach Next To Mine." (reeeaaaallly hate running into these people, you can't even relate to them without them thinking your trying to out do them - don't even try folks, you can't! I think there is a Saturday Night Live character based on these people done by Kristen Wiig.)
6) (Related to Above) The "I Don't Know You But I'm Going To Tell You About The Most Disgusting Aspects of My Medical History Whether You Like It Or Not!". (Now I really don't mind blood if something happens and I see it, but I surely don't want explanations on your husband's colon condition or anything related to the matter!)
7) The "I Don't Care If You Held The Door For Me and Let Me Go Ahead Of You, I Wouldn't Say Thank You If My Life Depended On It!" (please people if someone holds the door for you it is okay to look at them and say Thank You. I have no obligation to hold said door for you, I was simply doing you a courtesy. Don't make me wish that I had simply let go of the door to slam right in your face. All it takes is a simple Thank You, if you can't manage that how about at least a nod to let me know you acknowledge that I just did you a favor. No, you don't owe me anything.)
8) The "I Don't Care If We Are At The Number One Children's Hang Out In The World I Am Going To Cuss At The Top Of My Lungs" People. (c'mon people there are kids everywhere. And please don't get all offended with me when I ask you very nicely to tone it down for the sake of my child. Your freedom of speech doesn't override my freedom of hearing!)
9) The "I Don't Care If Your Child Is Two, I'm Going To Push Them Out Of The Way To Get To This Ride (show, playground, etc)". (You really need to grow up!)
10) The "I Know Everything Is Perfect, But I'm Still Going To Complain About EVERYTHING!" (Yes, I know you are generally unhappy, but can you can it so those of us who have great lives can avoid the negative pool that is yours!)

Well, folks, I don't know if I will be able to post tomorrow, to much going on and we leave on Saturday. I will NOT be taking my computer to WDW so I will take pictures and a journal and I will start a trip report when I get home. I hope you will join me! Thanks.
