I heard that people double book and do not cancel and not show up. Please make sure you cancel if you are not planning on using a reservation so others can get one!
It is really easy on the website now to cancel. I just did last night. Go to my disney vacation and hold the mouse button down and get to dining reservations. Then just enter your confirmation number and click cancel! It is really easy now I just hope that people don't hold onto reservation if they know they will not use them!:)

I agree .... I cancelled mine as soon as I booked a replacement. The online system is great for that! Good luck everyone.

I totally agree....

You can read through all the different posts and actually see the double bookings.

In the past when I have gone it was never ever a problem making reservations by calling.

NOW with the event of the ONLINE reservations people can book multiples and it is never caught in the system.

I spoke quite awhile to a very nice CM who said this has been the problem and they are trying to work out a way so that no one can double book.

Please Please for the sake of others ,if you know you are not going to use the reservation...cancel it.

I can only hope guilt prevails

Really, really dumb question...where's the cancel button once I get to my reservations page? :confused3 I see an option to e-mail the reservations and add a celebration, but not cancel. Please help! :)

I cancelled one too, and when I brought up the ressie, there was a button cancel or modify. I think it was on the right side of page.

We were at WDW from 8/21 to 9/1, early in this summer free dining plan. By the time we left, we couldn't get a reservation anywhere, anytime. I had an ADR at Kona for 2 at 9:50pm I wanted to get earlier. Nope, not happening. Even the lesser known restaurants like Turf Club and Olivia's were booked up. Well, every single restaurant we went to (with the exception of Le Cellier :lmao:) had empty tables going to waste. It was really sad. And even when we at at Le Cellier, it was full, but there weren't gobs of people waiting for their tables. Maybe one or two groups at a time.

But someone did do their cancellations. At 3:00 on one day, we managed to get ADRs for Crystal Palace for 6 at 5:30. (Which freed up our cancelled Tony's for someone else.)

Ugh!! This is such my pet peeve at WDW!!!!

Yes, please cancel - easy to do in advance on-line now. But, please cancel even if you decide AT THE LAST MINUTE that you won't make an ADR. We have had several instances where we have been too tired for our dinner ADR or still full from lunch and decided to cancel at the last minute. Everytime I call or stop by the restuarant to inform the CM of our cancellation they are SO appreciative. Especially during busy times it allows someone to get in at the last minute!!

Another reason why I hate that they pretty much force everyone to make ADR's so far in advance. Those that cancel their trips probably never bother to cancel their ADR's.

I wish the website were more user friendly. I am unable to login, even when requesting a new password. I used to be able to cancel with the retrieve your reservations site, but now it pops into the login screen. So every time I want to cancel I have to call. Sigh.

I really hope they do change it so no one can double book it wuld be nice to give us all a chance.

Don't worry about me. I made ADR's for every dinner, but we plan to still play the vacation by ear and if we don't have enough time to get there or are too full to want to sit down for a full meal, I already have Disney dining programmed into my phone, so I can call and cancel the minute we decide.

I think Disney will overhaul their entire website/reservation system by next year. It would make the most sense to require people to attach all ADR's to their room reservation. However, that would cause a problem for off-site fans.

Or, they can require a Credit Card number for every reservation, that way if you don't show up or cancel, you will be charged a fee. That would stop majority of people from double booking.

For days now I have had to call when I want to cancel a ressie made online. It keeps saying unable to retrieve reservartion when I try to pull it up. And yes, I put in the phone number that I entered when making the ressie, so I know I am doing it right.
It irritates me because I want to do the right thing and cancell un-needed/changed ressies and it is difficult to do.
(I am calling and doing it though - for those of you wondering:thumbsup2)

Actually, it will come up that it cannot retrieve it, it has been cancelled.

I noted that when I cancelled one and re-book something else. I received the e-mail with both ressies on the same page. It did not indicate that one was new and one was cancelled.

When I tried to pull up the cancelled ressie, it gave a message that said - cannot retrieve reservation.

I called to be sure, and the system shows it as cancelled.

The same thing happened to me until I spoke with Technical support.

I kept entering my hotel reservation number and then my home telephone number.

I was told I had to individually enter my reservation confirmation numbers one by one and telephone number.

The other thing I did wrong...
After I made a reservation there was a question "What phone number will you be using while on vacation" Well I entered my Cell Number.

So if you also did this now all of your reservations are linked to another number.

Hope this is not too confusing.

Mary

I cancelled one too, and when I brought up the ressie, there was a button cancel or modify. I think it was on the right side of page.

In the box that shows my reservation information, there's a space that looks like I should be able to click on it (curser changers from arrow to hand), but there are no words, boxes, or anything for me to click on. Guess I'll just have to call to make sure it gets canceled.

My DD asked about eating at Whispering Canyon Cafe for our upcoming trip, and I was able to get it on line last night. I also moved our Yachtsman Steakhouse for the last night we are there. But I couldn't cancel the two I already had, so I had to wait til this morning to call and cancel. I was only on hold for maybe 2 minutes and was done!!!

When I cancelled an ADR last night it was pretty easy. It took some time to figure it out but it was really easy once i did it. I used the confirmation # for the dining reservation and the phone number I gave when I booked the reservation which was my cell. It then asked if I was sure I wanted to cancel I clicked yes and it was done!
I went through the link of my disney vacation on the disney home page and then had a hard time getting down to dining reservations but i found that if you hold the mouse button it will let you go down. Then from there I put in the DINING conf #.
Keep trying and don't give up so others can get that much needed reservation!:goodvibes

I also did some cancellations online which was very easy. One weird thing though - one of the reservations I wanted to cancel popped up as something TOTALLY different than what I had down. I had a ressie for Teppan Edo on 10/5 and somehow pulled up a Cape May ressie for 10/26??! I ended up calling in - just wanted to make sure I wasn't somehow cancelling someone elses. Needless to say, be sure to go back and pull up your reservations before you go, even if you get an email with confirmation . . .better safe than sorry!!

Yep I will cancle mine tonight. We really wanted the ASMU Suites for the room and got the QSDP instead of the regular one. I called today to make the change from CBR to ASMU suite. I had a pin but all the values were booked under my pin so we did the QSDP for free.

I want to cancel an ADR that I made online, but when I put in the confirmation # and my cell phone # (the only number I have), I get: "we are unable to retrieve your reservation. You may continue to make your dining reservations, contact your travel agent, or call 407-WDW-DINE for assistance."

This happens with all of my confirmation numbers. Anyone know why?
