Okay... here's the scenario:

Attendees: Me, my 6 year old daughter, a friend and her 11 year old daughter (their first trip)

3 nights at All Star Movies starting Dec 25 (two rooms), then we leave for a 7 night cruise.

After returning from the cruise we have two nights before we fly back... Jan 4 and 5... value season. I realize the discounts aren't known yet (when should they come out?)... but we're thinking about putting all 4 of us in a room and splitting the cost. I know we'd love the Beach Club... and I know the KINDS of discounts that CAN happen... do we chance it? If I were to say, let's try another resort - what are your suggestions for a magical stay? (and comfortable with 4 in a room?)

I think the chances of a discount are very good at that time of year. That being said, you can't count on it and would have to be prepared to pay rack rate or DC or AAA, if you can get it.

I would try the Beach Club if you wanted to be in the Epcot area, AKL if you want a truly magical experience with the animals - be sure to get savannah view. If you want to be at the MK, I think the Polynesian or Contemporary.

Last January we went to WDW. We booked the trip in December when we received a mailing about discount rooms. I don't remember if it was from DC or from our AP. We called a couple days after receiving the mailing and had the option of the Contemporary or the GF for a discounted price. We chose the GF, I think we paid around $230, but not positive. We could have stayed at the Contemporary a little cheaper, but we love the GF.

I think you will probably find there are discount codes for BC at that time, but I myself have been sort of disappointed with the discounts at BC/YC, etc. If you want a deluxe, WL or AKL are really the 2 resorts with discounts that really have had nice discounts lately. The rooms are not as large, but it is only for 2 nights.

I am not sure what I would do. I think since it is for only 2 nights and you are splitting the bill in half, I would 'go for it' for a splurge and stay where your heart is tugging you towards. Plus it will give you something extra special to look forward to when your cruise is over before the vacation-is-over-blues set in.

Good luck!

Okay, we're definitely going deluxe... now, which resort has the best bed layout for us? I know the Beach Club has rooms with 2 queens and a daybed... which would work perfectly... what else compares? We just don't want to get stuck with just two beds.

I could be wrong, so anybody jump in and correct me, but I thought the 2 deluxes - AKL and WL had smaller rooms and therefore no daybeds for the USUAL configuration. I THOUGHT the other deluxes as their usual configuration offerred a daybed. Anybody?

Well, that's a tricky question! ;) A lot of rooms in the deluxe resorts have daybeds, and a lot don't! LOL :D I have heard of rooms at AKL with daybeds, and I've also heard of rooms at the GF, BWI, YC, BC, etc that don't have daybeds. Confused??? LOL ;)

I am not sure about the daybed, but I do know that the rooms in the WL felt significantly smaller than the GF and the BC. I am not sure if it was just the "feel" or if it was actually smaller. I am sure someone out there knows the size of the different rooms. We had four adults in one room at the GF and were quite comfortable. We did not need a daybed. And trust me, my mother and sister pack everything but the kitchen sink and we still had plenty of room.

If you go to the wdwinfo.com web site I believe they have a section on the resorts where you can click on a diagram of standard room layouts for all of the resorts...hope that helps...

The Contemporary and Polynesian are the only resorts you'd be guarenteed a daybed. The BoardWalk Inn has most rooms with a child size daybed (5ft long). I've never had a problem at the GF getting a daybed (just request: daybed) - most rooms have them.

The BC would be great for the whole group. You would all love the pool (if it IS nice at that time), it's close to EPCOT, there is Beaches and Cream which is so fun, the BW and YC, Dolphin, and Swan are all near by to go check out also. If you request DayBed when making the reservation, you should have no problem.:)

Most rooms at AKL do not have daybeds. Only some of the "deluxe" rooms there do.

All rooms at Polynesian and Contemporary have daybeds. The rooms are also a lot bigger than the ones at AKL and WL.
