Strnage turn of events there. I guess we'll only know for sure when the dna results come back and they see just who it really is and who all the evidence points to. BUT this will all play into the defense hands for that whole reasonable doubt stuff.

The spokesman is now saying this: Utility worker called on Aug.12 about a trash bag that he could see from the rode. Police went to site and the worker had left and officer saw nothing and left. Worker called again the next day (8/13) to the crimetip line, The Tip line officers saw that it had already been reported the previous day and, since that the officer had seen nothing the previous day, they didn't do anything that day about the tip.

Capt. Angelo Nieves of the Orange County Sheriff's Office said that the same utilities worker called in tips on Aug. 12 and 13 and Dec. 11 regarding the area where the remains were found last week

Nieves said the calls were handled differently. He said no deputy was brought to the scene after the first call, CrimeLine handled the second call and a deputy responded the third time the meter reader called regarding the scene. Nieves said what happened in that timeframe is being looked into.

He clarified that the utilities worker is not a suspect.

wouldn't it be sad if this was the same bag he saw then and it could have been over so much sooner for everyone?

Wasnt that area under water at the time the utility worker called? You know, if Casey hadnt made up so many lies, i would tend to throw doubt on her being the murderer. But with stuff from the crime scene being linked to the home, I think its a solid case.
I wonder why the utility worker waited til December??? because the water dried up?

The area was flooded up until about 1 1/2 weeks before the worker found the remains.

Wow, look at how much that crime scene has changed since they've started working. :scared1:

Is the blue canopy the location the bag was found at? It so close to the road. I'm guessing all the pink & yellow flags are locations of other evidence or bones found.

All the talk about the cadaver dogs, I'm wondering how long after death can they find a body? Since Casey didn't tell anyone that Caylee was "missing" for 31 days, at that point, when they started looking, would there still have been a smell for the dogs? I know the dogs hit on the backyard and the trunk, but there would have been fluids then, after 31 days, maybe longer, depending when the dogs searched the area by the school, alot more time had passed.

So assuming that they find that the meter reader had nothing to do with the crime and just was reporting things and then later going back to look again, can he now say that he DID call Crimestoppers and he DID let them know where to look so he should be getting the reward money?

I sense a lawsuit on this coming up.

One of the people who searched the area says that the area was flooded back in August. He said there was no way anyone could have seen the remains there. A woman who searched in that area is claiming that there was nothing there in August because she searched that area.

This is really opening up a bag of worms. I'd really like to know what the connection of the utility worker is to the case. Is he just someone obsessed with the case? Inquiring minds want to know.

The guy called on August 11. Hurricane Fay brought the water but it didn't hit
FL until August 19th. What I think is that he called and nothing was done. He probably couldn't forget what he saw. His last call was on Dec. 11. Sounds like it may be on his route. He may have wondered if the bag was still in the area and went to check since the water receded.

IF the meter reader had anything to do with Caylee's death, how did he get her? Casey didn't say boo about any kidnapping except in connection with the non existent nanny. I think that if Cayley was indeed kidnapped and Casey had nothing to do with it, she would have been more forthcoming.

Is this Caylee's book at the crime scene? Pix from Orlando Sentinel show what appears to be the book that Caylee was reading on the video of her reading to her Great Grandpa at the nursing home just a day before she went missing.

This whole case just gets more bizarre by the day.

Oh wow, I totally missed that when I looked at those pics earlier. But when you blow up the picture, it sure does appear to be something square & yellow with darker objects on it like her book. :sad1:

Personally, I don't think he did have anything to do with it. I was just stating what I think the defense will state. He has unwittingly played right into their hands. It is enough to create reasonable doubt. It is the break the defense has needed. LE screwed up when they didn't follow up more closely on the guy's leads. I think the defense will use the fact that the cadaver dogs went through the area and didn't hit there. If I were her defense attorney, I'd be all over this. It's their job.

You've got better eyes than I do. It just looks to me like something out of focus. It could be a plastic bag for all that I could make out.

Picture 5 (which is the close up) does look like the book to me.

Casey's attorney, Jose Baez, was on The Today show this morning and told Matt Lauer that the entire investigation is in doubt now because of the meter reader. Matt Lauer didn't play into it though, he said .. "Really, the entire investigation?"

We don't know the whole story so I am cutting the police some slack here. They had over 5,000 tips, Caylee's own mother was lying to them through her teeth, evidence pointed them in many other directions. It's all too easy to sit back now and say they should have found Caylee in August, hindsight is 20/20. The meter reader is supposed to do a press conference with the police today, I'm going to wait to hear the whole story before passing judgement on anyone.

Baez just looks like a fool more and more everyday. Still blown away by them saying that they werent moving fast enough with the crime scene. Good grief... are they that desperate to get Casey off that leaving part of that child in the woods is okay?

and holy smokes... looks just like the book to me.

Yes the meter reader causers issues for the prosecution, but in the end there was decomposition evidence IN Casey's trunk and hair, the searchers on the computer are scary by themselves, Casey lying left and right, not reporting her missing for 31 days and that only happened because Cindy went looking for them.

If a jury is smart enough to stick to "Did Casey do it", I think the prosecution is still ok and we still don't know all the circumstances with this meter reader and his tips. I read he reported a gray bag in August and the skeleton was found in a black bag, not sure if that is true. It is said that cadaver dogs "went through the area". We have no idea how close to the actual area they were or what month they were taken there. Too many questions that I hope are cleared up soon.

I think it looks like a book

Remember, Casey telling everyone how she talked on the phone to Caylee on July 15? She said Caylee was reading her book to her. I can see Casey now saying that the nanny dumped Caylee because she had her book when she called from the kidnappers.
