It was on the website not the TV. I'll see if I can find it again.
Unless I missed something yesterday. I'm very confused about the DNA. I know they got the smell test back yesterday, which was positive for human decomposition. And they tested the hair which was Caylee's and showed signs of decomposition.
So what were the tests they announced today. The sheriff specifically said that it was still an open missing person's case and a reporter asked him if Caylee was 'missing and presumed dead' and he said no, they didn't have conclusive proof that she was dead so it was still an active missing persons case.
Maybe the police are just being coy??? Throwing out a little semantics play, because they don't have a body it isn't 'conclusive proof?'
I believe the body was Caylee's and I'm sure the police belive that too, they just need it to hold up in court.
Has the DNA from the fluid in the car come back yet? Maybe that is what they announced today (not that they told us anything) and the first tests weren't 100%?
I do believe LE is being coy, BUT (always a caveat eh), since they can't prove Caylee is dead right now (or at least aren't showing their whole hand - which shouldn't shock anyone), they'll play along with the charade.
I find it amazing that the results aren't back yet. I'd bet my last dollar that they're ALL back and we're only going to hear about 1 at a time. Ultimately, the goal is to bring closure for the little girl. If that means Casey doesn't get death, I bet they're okay with that. I don't believe for a minute that Casey will walk, though.
Yesterday, it's my understanding that the air samples came back positive for human decomp.
Today, the actual hair samples came back proving the strands of hair belong to Caylee, or Casey. If they had the root, they'd have nuclear DNA and that type of DNA can say exactly who the hair belonged to (with exceptions I believe for identical twins). If the root is not attached however, they would be talking about mitochondrial DNA. Since Casey is Caylee's bio mom, it could belong to either.
Thus, if they don't have the root, they will NEVER be able to conclusively state that the hair belongs to Caylee. Of course, baby hair and adult hair have different consistencies, and who knows, maybe Casey has dyed her hair, whereas Caylee's probably was never dyed, and length could also come into play. So while DNA testing can't conclusively say it's Caylee's, common sense can.
Add on top that they also found decomp on the hair/hairs, and well, if there is no root, there should be no decomp from Casey, should there?
They can also test the hairs further and try to determine if the hairs came from a live person or a dead person. They may or may not be lucky with that testing though, but it's an avenue I am sure they will explore.
We need to also remember that this was only preliminary testing on the hairs from what I understood when I heard the reports.
