Curiosity (and I don't want to read every thread looking for it), but exacly what compensation did DCL offer the cruisers who were impacted by Francis?

I know the Magic sailed the first ever 10-day cruise (10 nights for the price of 7), but was anything offered extra for the "inconvenience"?

What about the shortned Magic cruise afterward?

How about the Wonder?

Can someone list all the compensation DCL offered?

OK couldn't wait:

Found this:

Disney Wonder
The four-night Bahamian sailing originally scheduled to depart on September 5th has been cancelled . All guests have the option of a full refund, a four-night Walt Disney World Resort stay, or on a space available basis, sailing on the modified Disney Magic four-night itinerary scheduled for September 7th. All guests scheduled for this cancelled voyage will also receive a discount voucher for a future three-, four- or seven-night cruise.

The September 9th three-night cruise to the Bahamas is still set to depart as scheduled from Port Canaveral.

Disney Magic
The seven-night Eastern Caribbean sailing, originally scheduled for September 4th, will be shortened to a four-night cruise and will depart on Tuesday, September 7th at 5 p.m. from Port Canaveral. The ship will arrive back at Port Canaveral as scheduled on Saturday, September, 11th. This voyage will sail to Cozumel, Mexico.

Fares for this shortened cruise will be discounted 50% , and guests will be offered special incentives for sailing.

The September 11th, seven-night Western Caribbean sailing is still set to depart as scheduled from Port Canaveral.

What are the "special incentives"? I read on cruise critic that it is a $200 on-board ship credit, and 25% of your next DCL cruise. Can anyone confirm?

I read on mousesavers that there is the $200 on-board credit and 25% future sailing discount.

we're on the Sept.9th Wonder, Got home today to a call from DCL.
Had to make all kinds of changes to our plans, Wonder not leaving from port can. Now from port everglades, about 4 or 5 hours farther down the coast. This meant an over night stay at Disney resort $105.00 just so we could get the complimentary bus trip way down to other port.
What did we get extra you asked?? Nothing!!
No discount, no day at CC, no shipboard credit.

Just got home from the 10-night Aug 28th Magic western cruise.

Here's what we got that was "extra", due to the hurricane:

*3 additional nights aboard the ship

*No Key West, but we did go to Costa Maya instead

*A 5-hour stop in Galveston, TX

*We all had to debark the ship this morning at Port Everglades, near Ft. Lauderdale. DCL then bussed the passengers to either WDW, Orlando Airport, Ft. Lauderdale airport, or back to Port Canaveral (for those who's cars were parked there). We had a 3-hour bus drive from Port Everglades to Orlando Airport, but this transportation was complimentary.

*If we could not have gotten a flight home today, DCL would've put us up at a WDW resort (which one, I have no idea), since we did not book our airfare through DCL.
*If you HAD booked your air through DCL, they'd put you up in a WDW resort for however many nights, until you could fly home.

We got the LAST 4 seats on the 7:15pm flight to Boston. We had to wait in Orlando Airport for 6 hours, but we did not mind at all, given the circumstances.

(This was my own personal experience, and what was given to us in writing, other cruisers may have had a different experience).

Inconvenience? DCL was under no obligation to offer any compensation. The extension was due to a hurricane. DCL did not choose for this happen and it was an inconvenience for them as much as it was for their passengers.

Technically if you read the cruise contract it has a good clause on "Acts of God" and what their liability includes. I don't recall most of the exact language but I know it didnt say that they would go out of their way to provide the best they could.

The impact of Hurricane Frances has required us to make additional changes to some upcoming sailings.

Disney Wonder, September 9, 3-night Bahamas Cruise
Due to the planned closure of Port Canaveral through Thursday, September 9, we will be embarking guests for this cruise from Port Everglades in Ft. Lauderdale.

Complimentary transfers to Port Everglades will be provided from:

The Orlando International Airport
The WDW Resort
Port Canaveral
The Ft. Lauderdale International Airport
The Miami International Airport
Guests with flights booked independent of Disney Cruise Line should remain on their scheduled flights to avoid change fees. Guests who are driving are encouraged to park at one of the Central Florida locations including the Orlando International Airport, Walt Disney World Resort or Port Canaveral, as we anticipate debarkation in Port Canaveral on Sunday, September 12, 2004, pending the ports re-opening.

Our itinerary will include a stop at Nassau and a day at sea.

Disney Magic, September 11, 7-night Western Caribbean Sailing
Currently, there are no changes planned for this Saturday’s sailing out of Port Canaveral. We are prepared to make itinerary changes, if necessary, due to weather or other challenges at Port Canaveral
.

This is currently on the DCL website.

I feel bad for all you folks taking cruises during this crazy weather. It's such a random thing. Nature - go figure!

Seaspray - I wish I had known the ship was making a stop in Galveston. We live about 3 hours from the port & I would have loved to take my kids to see the ship. I'm glad you made it home safely & hope you enjoyed spending a few hours in Texas.

JUst got back from the 9-2 cruise. We spent 2 extra days at sea, got to go to Cozumel Mexico, were given 300.00 shipboard credit, were provided a night of free lodging at Disney resort if we could not get on a flight due to the changes, and were given free vouchers to the airport or resort wherever we were headed. All in all it was great. I got married on the ship because we couldnt dock. IT was great. Loved it and would do it again.
