PLEASE keep your pets indoors!!!!

Oh - I sure wish I didn't open that link..:(

What kind of people do that sort of thing? :sad1:

Wow. Someone very dangerous is running amuck in that area.

Another serial killer in the making. Hope they find whoever it is and make sure they get help before they move on to larger animals like humans.

I was hoping it was the bobcat that has been sighted in the area but bobcats don't know how to shoot guns.

Yeah, I wished I hadn't read it either because now I have images in my head :sad2:
I thought I needed to share though because I know we have alot of Houston area Dis'ers on here and we all need to be aware of the dangers to our fur babies.

I don't want to read it, but I can gather what it is basically about. I think it's very disturbing and sad, but I don't think people should keep their pets indoors because of it anymore than people should not let their kids play outside because there are serial killers and kidnappers in this world.

Our dogs go outside quite often. I feel pretty safe in our neighborhood. I know something could happen to them, but I don't feel it's very likely. And they enjoy running around in the backyard. Plus...don't all dogs need to go outside?

The article was about a couple of cats. I do let my cats out on a leash and harness. Silly I know, and they only go out this way occasionally but they enjoy it. I'd never let them go out and roam freely though. Won't let DD do it either, without supervision.

And we always had cats growing up, and they roamed freely. They also lived long lives (one was 23 when she died) and were healthy and safe. I guess people have different views and make different choices, and that's ok. I think your choices are fine (unless your DD is 13 or something ;) ).

Still, so sad about the poor kitties.

And it is always cats. Rarely is this stuff done to dogs. There is a certain "cool" in hating cats.

In college, my roommates parents had a cat who was severely beaten with a baseball bat. The town baseball field was basically in their back yard. The cat got out, ran across the field and the local 'kids' who's game it interrupted thought it would be funny to chase it and beat it with their bats. Nice. They thought they were hilarious. Cat died.

DISREGARD THE THUMBSDOWN ABOVE.. don't know how that happenend and for some reason it won't let me change it :lmao:

I agree.. My DD is 9, and has ADHD so she's not so in tune with her surroundings at all times. I don't hover over her but she does have to stay in our yard or 1 of the neighbors yards with thier kids and has to be within ear shot and in view ;)

We had outdoor cats too when I was growing up and unfortunately, none of ours lived past 3, usually because of cars :sad1:

People suck!!! My cats stay in the house due to coyotes, but if I lived in the suburbs I wouldn't let them roam for their safety from cars, dogs, and other cat hating people!!

I despise the cat from four doors down:mad: It goes to the bathroom in my yard every single day. I don't understand how a pet owner feels it is ok to allow any pet to roam the neighborhood without a leash and someone to pick up after it goes to the bathroom:confused3

That being said, I think it takes a special kind of psycho to murder an animal:guilty:

This is the reason why I don't believe cats in a neighborhood should be allowed to roam free!! I love my cats, but I don't want my neighbors cats pooping in my yard!! That's not ok!

And this is why the Human Society is working towards making the consequences of inhuman treatment of animals harsher. It takes a special kind of person to do this to an animal and we need to start taking it seriously.

Definately agree with this :thumbsup2
