Sara, that is the most horrific story I have ever heard! I would have been freaking out!! No wonder you don't like to fly

I agree Sara. That is way too scary. Especially about the thought that they might have stashed their drugs in your bags. OMG. My DIL flies first class to Europe on business and she says that in first class, the airline even provides PJ's and they actually enclose each seat, made into a bed so you have complete privacy and darkness. I can only dream. For our upcoming trip, I priced first class and it was $10,000 per person. Not in this lifetime. Sorry, I'll have to sit in coach with the druggies and farting people. Yup, on the way to Italy, the guy in front of Mo kept gassing. Mo said he knew when it was coming because everytime the guy reached up and turned on that little air thing so he could blow it back to Mo. I was sitting elsewhere so didn't have to endure it.

It was not fun at all! :sad2: And I have never been a good airplane person anyway. That just made it worse.

Hmmm.. druggies or farters? I don't know? That's a toss-up! :rotfl: Seriously, I was reading along and when I got to that sentence, I almost spit my drink out! :rotfl2: Poor Mo! That sounds torturous! Why weren't you guys sitting together? :confused3

Both of us like aisle seats so we usually split up in order to get them. It's rare that we sit together on a plane. Besides, we've been married so long, it's not a big deal if we are separated on the plane. Especially returning from vacation. After so many days together 24-7, we enjoy the break. :rotfl2:

I hear ya on that! However, for me I don't think the stranger next to me would be all that happy with me squeezing the life out of his hand at every bump and wiggle! :rotfl2: It's nice when we get those planes with the 2 seats together, instead of 3. Then Shawn can sit next to the window like he likes, and I can sit on the aisle like I like! :thumbsup2 I have to be as far away from the window as possible! Don't like to see how high I am!

Sara

Pakey, I was lol at work in front of people that don't know me. They thought I was crazy.:rotfl:

I am complete opposite of you with seat choice. I have to sit by the window, it makes me think I have some sort of control or something. I like to know when we are going in or out of a cloud, cause I know it will be bumpy. My family gets mad cause I ALWAYS have to have the window. I tell them to get their own, but it doesn't work!

Kimmy, I don't know how you can stand to sit by the window. It's so cramped over there. I like the aisle because I can at least stretch one leg out in the aisle when the flight attendants aren't rolling their annoying carts by. Plus you can usually see the movie screen better from the aisle. I hate the partially blocked view of the movie screen.

What I really wish they would do is discount the middle seats. I had one of those on my last flight a few weeks ago and it was the worst experience. The guy to my left was very sick and kept coughing and the guy to my right was huge, and I mean huge. He must have been 7 ft tall and he could only sit in the seat by pushing the metal arms outwards. So the arm on my seat that we shared was pushed almost into my lap. The guy couldn't even put his tray down for his drink because his legs were up higher than that. When he stood up, his head hit the top of the plane while standing in the aisle. Thank goodness I didn't have to use the porta-potty because I'm not sure that guy could have gotten himself back out of that seat. Therefore, I think middle seats should cost less because it's a much worse trip sitting there.

Monica, are we making you feel better about your solo flight in December?

I like the "extra" room on the aisle seat too, Pakey! Quickest exit in an emergency as well! ;) I'd be throwing myself over people to get to the exit if I had to! I feel kind of trapped over by the window! :lmao:

I think you are either a "window" seat kind of person, or an "aisle" seat kind of person...I have yet to find a "middle" seat kind of person! But instead of just discounting the middle seats, they just charge a "premium" for aisle and window, and that way it makes the middle person feel like they got a discount when they actually didn't!

Sara

I am a "window" person. I love looking out and realizing just how small we are in the scheme of things.

Sara and Pakey - sounds like some interesting flights you two have had! :scared1:

That's funny Michelle! Same reason I DON'T like sitting by the window! :rotfl:

Sara

Unfortunately, I get real "chatty" when I drink, so I might talk someone's ear off on the plane if I drank too much! :hyper2:
Sara

So, are you ALWAYS drunk?!:lmao:

Wow, I missed alot today. Thanks alot for the scarey plane talk! No more please!:sad2:

Oh yeah! I'm three sheets to the wind right now! Just got back from visiting Mr. Daniels and his friend Jose! :rotfl: You never noticed before? :confused3

Which was scarier - my drug addict co-flyers from Paris, or Mo's farting cohort? :rolleyes1

Sara

I would say Mo's. At least they had an excuse to kick the druggies off cause that's illegal! No law against stickin up a plane.

HEY GIRLS!!!!!!

Guess what I just did?

:rolleyes1

Made my reservations!

Finally!

:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

It's official!

:woohoo: :yay: :woohoo: :yay:

Sara

Woo Hoo Sara!!!!!!!!:cheer2:

We know you're not a planner Kimmy, but please book your room soon. You too Faith!

Guys, I've been checking flight prices every day, at least once a day. I'm still not sure I can do this. I have 11 tickets to buy for January plus I have 4 cruise cabins to pay for. I have to make sure I have that covered before I can commit to December.

I'm an accountant, not a magician. :rotfl: Mo tells me to just go for it and worry about it later but that goes against my nature. Give me a bit more time to figure it out.

For you guys that have went on the meal plan before, how do you guys do it? We've always went, paid OOP for meals, always eat signatures. But for the trip in Jan with this big group, I'm thinking about doing the basic dining plan for everyone. With only one TS a day, do you guys use it for breakfast, lunch or dinner. And when you travel with young kids (since Clayton will only be 3), how do you plan your meals to make sure the little ones get rest breaks? I've never struggled this hard putting a trip together but I just can't figure this one out.

And how do you guys feel about park hopper tickets vs non park hoppers?

I'd appreciate all the help you guys can give me.

Pakey - No rush on getting your tickets, I just hope you are able to make it! :)

I've never done the dining plan so I can't help you there. I've heard great things about the dining plan though and with your big group it would probably save you some serious money. And then you don't have to cringe everytime you get a meal bill.

As far as park-hoppers - before getting my annual pass three years ago I never had the hopper. I guess when you don't know any different it is not a big deal. But now that I have it I can't imagine not having it. It just will take a lot more planning if you don't have it though. When my mom travels with us she doesn't get the hopper so we just plan our park days accordingly. May depend on where you plan to eat also - you won't be able to spend the day at MK and then have dinner in Epcot.

Guess I wasn't much help. :confused3

Hi Faith. I knew you were on the fence, but this makes me so sad.:sad1: We'll understand if you can't come, but if you don't all bets are off for the hats around the world tour!:rolleyes1

We'd love to help you plan your January trip! First off the hopper pass does make it easier to plan your days. And for people who don't go to Disney very often it's very nice because you can go back to a park for a couple hours to see what you missed. We don't use the hopper pass everyday, but we definitely use it. Especially the last day or an off day. If you think this could be your families only trip for awhile I would definitely consider the hoppers. When you don't know when/if you'll get back to Disney, missing Splash Mountain or Festival of the Lion King could be devestating!

Dining Plan: I would definitely do it if I were you. We brought bfast foods, but you can get a light breakfast OOP, or you can use snack credits to get milk and a box of doughnuts from the gift shop. Then eat an early lunch, and have an ADR for dinner. Or an ADR for a 9:30 bfast, snack, early dinner. It works out and you aren't left wanting for food. We still paid OOP for a pop here and there, but it's nice to know it's paid for. Signature restaurants and Cindy's castle are two TS credits, but I think you were skipping signatures w/ Clayton anyway.

Breaks are going to depend on how good of a napper Clayton is. I didn't want to have to leave the parks. Megan just slept in her stroller. Some people like to leave. It's a personal choice I guess. I would say leave around 1:00. Nap, go back around 4 or so. It's hard with the time of year you're going because the parks aren't open as late. If you're at AK you're not going to want to leave for a break because they close at 6. If you think you will be taking breaks then this is another reason to get the hopper pass. AK in the morning, nap, Epcot at night.

We love planning trips so ask away!!:)
