Please Join us tonight at 9pm for Pin Chat

I just returned from another great Disney-themed trip. I left yesterday afternoon and piled my pins and my adventure clothes into the car with big thoughts of trading with my friends at the DIS. It felt good knowing I was going to get away from the heat of Phoenix in the summer. It is not that I don’t enjoy 115-degree weather, it is just that I am getting tire of people staring at me while I am driving my car wearing oven mitts. Well, that is a whole other story that I will leave for another time. After all, this is a trip report not a hand wear fashion report (quick note, when the officer pulls you over to give you a ticket for unsafe driving because you are wearing pot holders on your hands, do not, I repeat do not offer to let him try them on and say, “If they fit, you must acquit.”) So here I was with my lanyard on and my pin bag in the seat next to me dressed in my lucky trading shirt and wearing my pin-trading hat singing “In the Summertime” by Mungo Jerry. (Another note to self, I really need to get the radio fixed or at least learn a new song.) I drove what seemed for hours before I pulled up into my driveway. I gathered all of my pin trading stuff and went back into my living room and turned on the computer. I logged onto the DIS Chat Room and settled down for a night of pin chat. Because I was a member of the DIS, I was given early entrance to the chat room. I find it most peaceful to get there just as the chat opens. Most people rush through this part running to the right and filling up the rooms closest to the entrance. Not me, I learned that going left and starting at the back of the chat room makes things less crowded. When I finally arrived at Pin Chat after first stopping off for an onion bagel (they were out of turkey legs), I was met by a whole bunch of characters. There was a Jedi Duck and a Chunky Monkey who seemed to be leading the troops. I watched and listened to the Tapestry of Pins parade. It was beautiful to see but I still don’t understand it. Somewhere in the middle of this parade, something amazing happened. I witnessed a pin trade. There in middle of the room with all eyes upon them, Dar20 and Duckfan agreed to trade a Lilo & Stitch pin for a Mickey topiary pin. The crowd cheered and I could have sworn someone actually started the wave. I watched in wonder as the cast of characters moved in and out of the room talking about pins, youth soccer, and the finer points of trailer living. Before I knew it, my trip was over and the pin chat was closing. I gathered my things, went out in the car and drove around for an hour before returning home and putting my things away for another week. It was pretty fun; I might have to do this again next week. Of course I will need to get some gas before then.

Gee, I missed a pin trade during pin chat! That's what happens when I fall asleep early!

There was an actual trade made during pin chat??

:earseek: :earseek:

I get busy and can't make it to the pin chat, and I miss the "great pin trade"..why don't these things happen when I am there??

ummmmmmm Jeff....... great story, only one problem...... It was Joy (Duckfan) and me that made the trade.

Hey Robin? Can you trade a pin to Dar so that my story is accurate? It would be even cooler if you trade that pin at next week's chat. ;)

Jeff

Two weeks in a row with a trade in chat... Hmmm.

Sure Jeff, no problem! We wanna keep your stories accurate.;)

2 trades 2 weeks in a row, hey Nat, is that a record or something?

Man, I miss ALL the fun. :(

Missed chat last nite, think I missed it last week...missed it at the nite before the SSE when Chas was silly stringed to death.

*sigh*

I miss it all.

But, none-the-less...I was there that nite & Leslie, it was a candy bar! :p
