Please hurry, November 9!

Do you get a blackout period from advertising? In Australia political advertising is banned from midnight on the Wednesday before the Saturday election and it is bliss! Of course, we then get bombarded with how to vote cards at the polling place (we have preferential voting)...but at least we get a sausage in bread! image.jpeg

They feed you when you vote there?!?!?!?! No, we have no black out period right before the election. If anything, it ramps up the closer we get. Candidates want to try to grab the people who are still undecided.

What is preferential voting? We normally have to go to the polling place and potentially stand in line for hours, punch our ballet, and then we get a nifty sticker that says "I voted."

Instead of just choosing one person, you provide a rank for all the people on the ballot. Doesn't really work in what is, essentially, a two party system. I'm not sure if Australia forces you to rank all the candidates or if you can choose how many to rank (different systems have some tweaks and different rules).

while sadly I'll still see way too many commercials over the next 10 days --- I voted this morning, so I don't have to worry about the craziness on the 9th.

I just got back from early voting too!
I just told my husband no more news or Live TV until the 9th, I'm done my brain is fired from it all.
Netflix, Hulu, DVR and Ondemand only!

I'd be concerned about food poisoning. This whole election is nauseating.

I voted early because neither candidate was worth standing in a line for. I wish I would've planned my trip to Disney over November 8th instead of this past week. Everyone is happy there, right??? I wouldn't even have a clue, or care, what was going on in the real world!

We have an unlisted number, so thankfully we aren't dealing with the phone ringing!

No early voting here unless you have a seriously legit excuse. There will be no respite from badgering for us!

Be careful. The ads are all over Hulu as well!

Both conventions were in July, and Election Day is on the latest possible date. This should have ended at least a month ago.

I'm so glad I don't have cable/tv. Next election season, I'm cancelling the newspaper for the entire year before! :duck:

Unfortunately, even when the election is over we still get all the horrendous facebook memes. I find those worse than the commercials or political commentary. Most of those memes are just horrible.
