I KNOW THAT THIS IS ONLY FOR DCL BUT PLEASE,I NEED HELP.I AM MOVING TO ORLANDO THIS YEAR.I NEED TO KNOW HOW BED TORNADOS AND HURRICANES CAN BE?DO YOU REALLY HAVE TO HIDE UNDERGROUND BECAUSE OF IT?WHICH PART OF ORLANDO IS THE BEST FOR THE FAMILY WITH 2 KIDS?HOW ABOUT METRO WEST?ARE THE SCHOOLS GOOD?PLEASE I NEED A FULL REPORT.PLEASE HELP. THANK YOU MUCH.

You're welcome. There are several posters that live in the Orlando area. I hope thay can answer your questions.

I don't live in Orlando so I can't help you w/ an area to live--except I do have friends living in Longwood and they chose it because of the schools. I live in Melbourne which is 45 min. to an hour east of Orlando and we have a better chance of being hit by hurricanes than Orlando--due to the fact they come up the coastline a lot and do dissipate most of the time as they cross over land. I don't know anyone who hides out underground because Florida isn't too high above sea level--in other words--no basements (usually). You don't have to dig too deep till you hit water in some places. But I've lived here for 12 years and love it--even with the threat of hurricanes. Tornadoes aren't that big of a threat. The biggest threat in weather here would just be lots of rain and lightning( in the summer months). And you learn pretty quick where NOT to be during lightning storms. So don't be worried or nervous!!! Orlando's an awesome place to live. Plus--you're right by Disney and 45 minutes from Port Canaveral!!! Good luck!!
